val...thank you so much for such a well put comment. Please don't blame the listeners, we are out here, still listening. Twenty five years and counting. Digging Blue Roeo right with ya.
I just recently heard about them from a friend who was a promoter in the day. The reason more people don't know about them is due to their own promotion and marketing agents. If it didn't get airplay you cant blame the listeners, its the protocol of the industry. I agree the LA and US music industry sucks in as much as they'll only follow a gimmick or sure fire hit formula based on some teen idol junk or a copy of something else. I loved the radio in Vancouver. I'm also digging Blue Rodeo.
'A thousand shining moments are waiting to happen to you'. Thanks for passing it all forward. "Open the door and let the sunshine in'' ...that's my little contribution on the youtube search engine
the only bad thing i have to say about this band is, I've seen them twice, and they didnt play this song either time. If you close your eyes when they play, you'd swear it was the cd, they're that good live
Thanks for posting this - great song! Blue Rodeo should be internationally famous, but then I wouldn't get to travel to other cities to see them in tiny venues, up close.
I sang a Blue Rodeo song in my grade twelve vocals class the other day and I was the only person who had ever heard of them. It's so sad that the current generation doesn't know good Canadian music.
This song is great. The undersung hero is Bazil on bass. He really brings the whole song together a la James Jamerson. This ones for you Bazil, "atta boy!".
I'm sure you could contact them. It would take a bit of work but in reality these guys are much more down to earth then other bands. They're just Canadian boys. So don't just say you wish you could, go do it. Go to a show and wait afterwords or contact their manager... They aren't the Rolling Stones, I'm sure they'd be happy to hear from you if they knew your father.
Blue Rodeo are so approachable! I have seen them 6 times - they always please. I bought a T shirt at one of their concerts - when I got home I discovered it was ripped - I went to their web site - sent an email - within ONE week I had TWO t shirts fed exed to my house - Love you Blue Rodeo - sign me a devoted fan for life!
From the hayday of Blue Rodeo. I remember this song was played at my first town hall dance back a decade ago, stil love it today.
