I dont think gman wanted to invade the planet with Aliens of Xen. I also thought that maybe Gman will want to get rid of Freeman, but I'm not sure he will. Its obvious that gman wanted to the combine to invade Earth and then he wanted Freeman to help the rebels and destroy the citadel.

The only thing was that he didn't want him to close the superportal. Why does he wanted more combine on earth? I think he had a plan for that.

@Leigax You know, a lot of what are now considered staple HL games started as simple mods. HL: Decay was made by modders, and Portal started as a homemade game called Narbacular Drop. That's the thing about Valve: They are very open to the modding community.

Opposing Force 2 should have his story during the events of Half Life 2, causing problems and eventually joining and leading a group of Rebels, then making a run to White Forest like everybody else.

I must say, I love the atmosphere of this song and the remake itself. Very dark and dangerous feeling all around, and with the techno-ish sounds, it feels just a tad futuristic and alien, which is, pretty much, what the game should feel like, too. Good music always marks a good atmospheric experience in a game. I can't wait for this mod to be released, along with the other Black Mesa.

@RawrNinjaBurgers Well, keeping in mind, Op Force was non-cannon, therefore it isn't actually a part of the half-life universe.

But with your question, the only reason the government deedmed it necessary to send in military units was to save the expensive technology and research there. Nuking it would have wasted all that funding I would assume.

The HECU Marines were sent in with only two jobs- one, to stop the alien invasion, and two, to "silence" anyone who may have survived at all costs, so that nobody will ever know what happened there. ... we know how that turned out. :|

On Opposing Force sometimes i think shepherd is the only HECU marine that wears a gas mask but on Half Life and Blue Shift you can see a lot of Hecu marines using gas masks i dont know why Shepherd is the only one that uses a gasmask on Opposing Force

Not to mention the countless Symbols seen around the Hospital inside, the 7 our war started because of Breen's Oppression on the human civilization, which didn't happen in the U.S.
