I am not a native in Shijiazhuang, but I've been working there for quite some years before I went abroad to study and now my wife and son are stil there. The name of the city is not ten family village. In fact, it originally means a village for villagers with the surname Shi, but now it is not a village any more.
I also lived in Shijiazhuang for nearly two years. Although I can say I have never lived in a dirtier city I can also say that during the time I was there there were some big changes. Out to the northwest of the city there are some botanical gardens that are really nice. In the city there is a park with a lake that you can go boating. The city has a long way to go but the changes so far have been positive.

First Shijiazhuang is the most Fucking city i ever was so unbelievable dirty smoged and poor. Even the sun dont want to shine at this place i lived there for about 1 year and its just shit ...only dvds are cheap 4 yuan each.
PS the symbol for TEN shi (cant write chinese on this PC) is old because it was a former village with TEN familys later they changed the name into Stone...i dont know why. But i dont care this place should be nuked
