I do learn by ear! I think it's a great skill...sheet music seems to be slow for guitar learning...have you tried reading tabs? That's pretty quick!

Umm...it was semi-natural for me...but you can definitely learn it...hhmmm...the best way to start is to take a song and match the bass notes of the song on the low E string on your guitar...like slide up and down the neck until it matches...then you will have the notes to form chords fromm..hmmm...I can explain this better in a message!
