  • Happy Black History Month!

  • is this right? turn a gundam will be on cartoon network !

  • Turn-A is seriously one of the best things I've watched in quite a while. The plot is awesome, the characters are all charismatic. It's not your usual mindless robot-smashing shit, or your usual boring shounen crap. It's DEFINITLY something. Plus the animation is the best I've ever seen. Heck, it was hand painted on cels! It's just gorgeous.

    Also, DAT DIANNA AND KIHEL.

  • @Sizednochi hey, I just gave you a thumbs up for stating facts about turn-A...happy new year! :D

  • LOOK OUT YOU ASSHOLES TURN X IS RIGHT BEHIND YOU

  • Funny thing about this 2nd opening is that it first appears in ep. 41, quite late for 50 episode TV series. At least, they got 2 openings for this show.

  • Happy Black History Month!

  • It almost seems like an American was saying "Turn A Gundam!"

  • i was dreading this show, opting for more realistic series like 08th ms team and war in the pocket, but watching it... its just so... AMAZING! everything about this show is great, the animation is awesome, the main character isnt annoying and the story is flatout GOOD

why cant all modern gundam be like this?

  • The Turn A is so broken as a mobile suit, it's moonlight butterfly wings has a span that reaches between multiple planets and destroy any form of technology with its nanomachines, it THROWS NUKES like they were rocks, has a special compartment for cow storage, AND can do your laundry all at the same time.

  • One of the best Gundams. One of the my favorites too!

    Glad this finally got licensed!

  • I need help. I swear to God that I've heard this theme song somewhere before, possibly in some anime review video. That's what I think it might have been. But I really just don't remember. Can anyone help me out?

  • I'm so glad this song is going to be used in Gundam Extreme Vs.

  • Turn A WILL FINNALY BE RELASED IN ENGLISH! HURRAY!

  • This fills me with hope, that no matter what, the Gundam universe will end up with peace...

Also that every Gundam series is canon, that just kicks so much ass

  • @sonickid101 actually they aren't all cannon, you see Turn A is a universe birthed out of a collsion of all the others (known as the dark history) so in Turn A they all happened yet they all didn't happen. (and seeing as how Turn A it's self isn't cannon that means that anything that happenes in it isn't either.)

  • yes, thats true. ;)

  • The universes never collided -_-

Turn A's timeline is not mutually exclusive so it can exist without the other series as far as Bandai Sunrise are concerned because it's canon and never has been tied to other series (by canon). It can just be that the Turn A timeline had the same events and progressions as the other ones in sequence.

  • @Geoxile I was being metaphorical when I said "collided".

  • Ah, I see

  • @Geoxile

Technically, the Black history tied it to -every- Gundam Series. GX, Wing, and UC are all seen within minutes of each other. So yes, it's considered the ultimate canon 'ending' for the Gundam Mythos. Tomino himself said that SEED is included.

  • @KatomaMundara Except Tomino has no say in it. He may be the original writer but the Turn A idea was solely his own contraption. Sunrise, the company that decides the canon, never said anything about it. That said, I'd still like to see a link. Also, mutual exclusivity, look it up.

  • @Geoxile

Except Sunrise themselves have continued to publish stuff agreeing with Tomino's storyline. Not excluding a Booklet which confirms UC as the official canon pre-universe of Turn A, a booklet which also appeared in Gundam Ace, confirming that all AUs are linked to Turn A, and then the fact SEED was later OFFICIALLY indoctrined into the Correct Century calender.

    ht tp:// en.wikipedia. org/wiki/Turn_A_Gundam

I hate using wiki as a ref but it backs it all up.

  • @KatomaMundara Except they don't. The fact that you're referencing Gundam Ace shows you don't know what you're talking about. Sunrise doesn't publish that, a 3rd party publishing company publishes the Gundam Ace magazines and largely feature 3rd party writers' works. Sunrise only ever said that animations are 100% canon but not that they're all tied. Btw, that booklet IIRC was actually from Gundam G Generation DS, a non-canon game. Tomino=/=Sunrise, Gundam Ace and Kadokawa=/= Sunrise.

  • @KatomaMundara Just noticed, even the G Gen DS pic on wikipedia shows SEED isn't tied in -_-

Btw, G Gen DS had a story line featuring the Centurios, which were made by Gihren who stole the designs for the Turn types and then made copies with zeon remnant technology -______- The entire point of G Gen DS was to cross all the series into a single story.

  • @Geoxile

Sunrise themselves provided the info regardless.

And said pic was noted on the same page to have been made BEFORE they (Sunrise) chose to indoctrinate SEED into it.

  • I love this opening and this series!!! I love this song I have it on my I-pod touch.

  • I swear, this song is so awesome, and NEEDS to be used in a Super Robot Wars game!

  • Got halfway through this show and now I can't find anymore links for it!!! ARGH!!! Things we're just beginning to get crazy too...

  • I Like this opening, but I do not know anything about the serie because I haven´t seen it. -_-

  • why is the title announced with a british accent?

  • Shouldn't you be concerned with other things in Turn A, like why does Turn A have a 'stache?

Anyway, the designs may look odd, but Turn A is one of the most underrated Gundam shows ever, in fact probably one of the most underrated Japanese productions ever.

And I really like this OP theme, it makes you want to dance.

  • @Pio98 the designs are odd because the suits are salvaged. the people in turn A don't understand teh tech the way that teh E.F.F. or Zeon did.

  • @Pio98 its not that great you,d have too see ALL of the gundam shows made before this one to fully understand it although I heard the story was great

  • @henritje19

When I saw Turn A, the only Gundam series' I haven't seen were V and 00, and I can easily say that you don't need to see everything before it to understand the story. There are a lot of references to old series, like the Borjarnon MS actually being Zaku, but these aren't really central to the plot. The story is completely independant, and having seen previous shows just adds to the enjoyment of it.

  • @Pio98 I think it's funny how some people have complained about the Turn-A's design... take it from a new Gundam fan, I wouldn't have gotten into the Gundam franchise if it wasn't for the Turn A's design to begin with, or the Turn X for that matter. Syd Mead is a genius, I wish Gundam would take more chances like this.

  • People who have seen it love it, it got get reception, but some people like myself are thrown off by the main Gundam's moustache as well as Loran's weird gender confusion crossdressing and the lame ass sword fighting in the end.

  • Comment removed

  • What do they say after century color?

  • "Million Color"

  • This gundam series certainly was a little strange but it was still pretty cool.

  • wait, so there is this gundam, and mobile suit gundam... anymore of these gundams?

  • There's tons of Gundams.

  • Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam Mobile Suit ZZ Gundam Mobile Suit Gundam Wing Mobile Suit Victory Gundam Gundam X Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny Mobile Suit Gundam 0080 War in the Pocket Mobile Suit Gundam 0083 Stardust Memory Mobile Suit Gundam the 08th MS Team Mobile Suit Gundam F91 Mobile Suit Gundam Char's CounterAttack MS Igloo Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and a host of side stories and different takes on series.
  • gundam wing is there geez cant you see heavyarms pops up

  • this was an amazing opening. its hard to decide which one i liked better turn a turn or century color

  • do somebody knows WHY the Turn A Gundam is designed so different than ALL gundams in history? well...his face...u know...

  • Syd Mead actually worked on a lot of the mecha designs for this show.

(If you don't know who he is, he's a popular artist who's worked on a lot of classic Sci-Fi films.)

  • blame Tomino for being crazy

  • It's fun to see a Gundam design that isn't a copy of something from Zeta.

  • That's because this was Tomino's last.

  • The design didn't bother me one bit, Turn A is the best non-UC Gundam show ever made, yes better than Wing, SEED and G-Gundam.

  • That's also an opinion sir.

In terms of storytelling, Turn-A is not the worst. The character involvements/interactions in Turn A are not that bad, and the views of Good and Bad are not one sided. The battle scenes are good since the fightings are not always flying-over-an-shoot-lasers-at-everyone. They are not repetitive too.

The mecha designs are odd, but doesn't matter; since the story is good and is the main focus of the series.

  • LOL Turn A Gundams head looks like a globe you see in the library, i sould check this anime out even though the gundam looks like a butler/ knight. with a mustash.

  • 1+ It was a great, relatively unknown chapter in the gundam universe. Well said, man

  • DON'T EVER FUCKIN DIS G-GUNDAM IN MY PRESENCE!!!

    *claming down*

Well Thats really just your opinion dude, I think G was a really really kickass show, Its definitly my favorite series and favorite series that isn't in the UC.

  • people should also take into account this series was made long after Tomino got through his depression and that series' like Zeta and Victory were made during his depression.

  • by depression u mean becoz of the various financial problems and disagreements he had with the company? zeta was an exception to this. victory yes, cheap graphics and the like.

  • No, it was a more personal depression, which he worked into his series and their overall tone. He went through a very dark period after the first Gundam series and then snapped out of it in the mid-90's. Turn-A is the only one of his series, outside of Dunbine, that still gets me choked up a little at the ending. Although, Ideon kind of did that for me too. Be Invoked is one of the greatest movies ever!

  • I agree with most people on this series design, but the story seems very interesting I would like to see Bandai bring the series to America.

  • I can understand people not liking the design, but there's a reason behind the design...it's called TURN A Gundam for a reason...the design gimmicks of a Gundam are upside-down on the Turn A, which is why it has that odd mustache thing. Over the series I still hated the design of the Turn A, but it grew on me over time.

On topic though, I love this song! It's a really upbeat and cheerful song, breath of fresh air compared to the overly somber songs Gundam usually gives.

  • That and its a bit of mathematics joke

The symbol ∀ is what is called a "Universal Quantifier" which in this case turns the title to "Of all Gundams"

Which makes sense considering the series

  • Wow, never knew that before, thanks for clarifying that up ^_^.

  • TAAAAAAAAAAAAAN A GAAANDAM

  • HEY FUCK YOU BUDDY!

The show was pretty damn good, and the Turn-A itself was fucking epic.

  • @gunnerdelta Guess what? Bandai finally licensed it for a North American release.

  • Do not underestimate Turn A Gundam although it is ugly ms but it is very powerful....

  • this was ok but not as good as 8th ms team and gundam 0083 now those were great series one thing gundam seed sucks

  • i like this opening. it's MUCH better than the 1st annoying one. it sounded like some cheap super robot ripoff (don't get me wrong, super robots are awesome)

  • The design of this series is by the designer of Blade Runner apparently... so pretty kewl.

  • the better part is that Turn A and Turn X are ridiculously powerful mobile suits. i don't know what other MS in other series that could match them.

  • Zeta runs on dead people. sounds powerful enough to me.

  • I don't know why people are disagreeing with ned2007..I just don't get it. Seriously, firepower is one thing, but the effects of moonlight butterfly is impossible to beat. Oh ..the guy thinks freedom has amazing firepower should go check out Wing Zero's twin buster rifles.

  • buster scmuster, Twin Sat Cannon is were it's at

  • True, the Twin Cannon is really powerful... (being able to waste a Colony Laser in one hit) but the damn thing needs the microwave system just to charge!

Still... the moonlight butterfly would be the one thing that could kill Kira for good.

  • what firepower? nanomachines from moonlight butterfly will eat strike freedom's guns, armor, engines, computers and all

  • @yapxingguan lol

  • @yapxingguan those arnt nanomachines... they are... DARK GUNDAM CELL!!

  • @wikikomoto

DEVIL GUNDAM... god I hate the dub for that >.>

  • @GundamLegacyExtreme dark gundam cells sound cooler then devil gundam cells... DG CELLS!

  • @wikikomoto

To each their own... I personally like Devil Gundam over Dark Gundam and God Gundam over Burning Gundam but that's just my thing.

  • @yapxingguan

like rrobbert184 said in a review "ever heard of Quantizing" I'm not saying 00 Raiser/Quanta can beat moonlight butterfly but they have a chance thanks to GN Particles.

  • @GundamLegacyExtreme dude i was talking about strike gundam not the 00 Raiser :P

  • @yapxingguan

    oh ^^" sry

  • @GundamLegacyExtreme dude. i'm laughing at you for thinking that any gundam has a chance against turn A.

  • @danberner

Well remember, 00 raiser and quanta can instantly teleport and avoid Moonlight butterfly which is the most devastating ability of Turn A, so long as they can avoid that it's fair game. Not to mention the GN particles can jam turn A's communication system and radar.

  • @GundamLegacyExtreme they can't teleport if the Turn A destroys them before hand. also Loran may not be the best pilot but the Turn A is virtually Sentient as compared to the 00 and Quanta which are merely machines. nothing stands a chance against the Turn A. its Canon that nothing can beat it.

  • @GundamLegacyExtreme The anime doesn't really show Turn A's full capabilities. There is a novelization describing how powerful it was before black history, such as cloning itself similar to DX Gundam's G-bits, colony laser rifle, creating weapons in his chest and moonlight butterfly spreading from earth to jupiter at full capacity to name a few. Not sure about how GN particles would react to Minovsky particles though since their both quite similar.

  • @SolBadguy777 Actually having just finished watching the final battle of Turn A Gundam again I think we can justify the Moonlight Butterfly incorporating GN Particles. When both Turn A and Turn X are using it Loran and Gym seem to sense each others emotions similar to Trans-am Burst mode and aren't pictured in their cockpit but rather surrounded by white light. It is meant to be the finale to CE and AD timelines as well by "Word of God".

  • @GundamLegacyExtreme

At full power, Turn A can reduce everything to Jupiter to dust. Also, it not only has teleport powers, but, according to the novel, it can teleport shots from the beam rifle into the cockpit.

  • @GundamLegacyExtreme The two instances of "teleport" in Anno Domini aren't actually instantaneous coverings of space. The two mobile suits quantize; their particles lose bonds with each other and freely move about in space. Because the particles are still in space, it is still possible for the nano machines to devour them. Turn A doesn't need a commu or radar. Can't really aim quadrillion machines at once, ya know?

  • @XharchianValor thought the nanos only attacked tech, which during quantanize the gundam is just particles.

  • @holyshtwtf12 "Tech" is vague. Almost everything we humans use, from spoons to planes, can be defined as technology. We consumers were never giving an in-depth canon explanation of Moonlight Butterfly, so we can only assume that the term "tech" in Turn A was the popular version: metal machinery. The 00 and Qan[t] both quantize into metal atoms, which can be "attacked" by the nanomachines.

  • The Ideon?

  • sounds intresting. But may i ask, what are you talking about?

  • Turn-A has the best story for all Gundam shows

  • Yeah same here my favourite too! XD

  • This is clearly the best Gundam series. A masterpiece, it is truly one of the best anime, along with Evangelion and Eureka Seven. If you want further evidence, check out its rating in the encyclopedia on AnimeNewsNetwork.

  • Actually, I think Zeta got a highter rating.

  • Turn-A is easily the best Gundam series I've seen, though I will admit that it's a bit slow to really get off the ground. That and admittedly the moustache threw me off at first, but after actually watching through the series, it's the finest thing this franchise has churned out.

  • Even if you despise the design at first, i guarantee you will like it when you watch the show.

I love the part where the head is removed and they're trying to attach it during battle =)

  • Yoko Ishida sings this song better, in my opinion.

  • I LOVE the Turn A gundam Tele series and ESPECIALLY the mobile suit, but what the fuck was with the "na na na na na"?!

  • Syd Mead's Designs + Tomino's Characters/Storylines make this show very awkward compared to his other conventional titles. This opening is so abstract, yet really employs the feelings of the series. When it hits the chorus at about 45 seconds in... it really pulls on the heart strings. I can't say anything bad about this opening at all.

  • >>the face of the gundam doesn't really look like a gundam.

It's set thousands of years into the future. It might look quite ugly but when you see it in motion, you really do see the elegance in the design.

  • just what is turn a gundam supposed to be about

  • I like this

  • the face of the gundam doesn't really look like a gundam.

  • Mr. Tomino create a new look for Gundam. I can say that this Saga is also pretty good just like the other gundam in Universal Century. But I notice that Turn A Gundam and Turn X is too much strong to be a Gundam. This machine is already qualified in a Super Robot Wars category. But over all this animation is really good. Congratulations Mr. Tomino for another Gundam Masterpiece.

  • Someone once said that as science evolves, it should be indistinguishable from magic. This is just demonstrating that. It's thousands of years after UC, and even in UC, they had the Biosensor, Newtypes, and other things that weren't very realistic.

However, I notced that Turn A and X weren't too over the top with their powers, especially with Turn X's "shining finger".

  • Science and Magic are almost one and the same when you think about it, so it stands to reason that humans in the Gundam universe would eventually get to that point.
