guys i know the builder of the car , i'm no mechanic so don't argue me i'm passignwhat the builder of this car said to me after i asked him about the international crisis of the "subaru scoop" all of you were arguing about :), the builder said that even with the big front inter-cooler and the oil and water fed into the ball bearing blower it's still getting extremely hot so he built a directing canal under the hood from the scoop directly to the turbo to help cooling it up that's all
I love both cars, but they would have had to do radical things to that MK1 to get it to be faster than the subie. Not really a fair race in my opinion.

@devilsfan964 I have a subaru I know fully well what a subaru has a hood scoop for. why does a vw need a hood scoop I dont know? you have a top mound for some stupid reason?! or do you have a subaru boxer swap?!
@Prodriver33 why are you acting as if the hood scoop is made specifically for a subaru?? you dont need to have a subaru engine to have a subaru style hood scoop. both cars need alot of air in the engine bay, there for both cars have hood scoops, whats so hard to understand about that?
@devilsfan964 because subaru hood scoops are only good if you have a top mount! otherwise you stuffing air into the engine bay at extremely high pressure when your going that fast! If I need to explain why high pressure isnt good for air flow then... subaru guys get rid of the hood scoop when they go front mount due to that fact. air FLOW and a bunch of stupid louvers and scoops are not at all the same. their is a class on aerodynamics at MIA you NEED to take! b4 you pretend to know more than me

@devilsfan964 the subaru has a top mount IC i guess, the golf should have a front mount, no reason to go top mount really. so the scoop is retarded.
the turbo takes air from a filter in the bay i imagine, not much point forcing air into it, as that what it's there for :S
