  • Mr SFNinjaLogic, is there anyway you can post the related linked article to this video? I've been trying to find any related material from this video on your website. From this video I have discovered this "Environment" window. I would like to explore this more and make this arp machine you are educating in this video. Thank you.

  • so only logiv 9 has the arp??! what the fuck. how come flstudio can put do it but gods-dick-logic cant do it??

  • logic should have had an arpeggiator plug in to save us of doing all this work..

  • Guess I might need to invest in Logic 9, thanks David Earl.

  • My Logic only says 'remove crossfade' when I control click on the fade-region :(

any idea how that may be??

  • @zimonslot Have you got the latest version? 9.1?

  • @LIANG14

No... they put that feature in later??

  • @zimonslot Yeah, just upgrade. Worth it too, 64bit 9.1 is. :)

  • @LIANG14

I heard upgrading to 64bit causes a lot of problems, why is it better and is it not possible to remain in 32bit with logic 9.1?

  • @zimonslot 64 bit allows your RAM over 4gb to be used for Logic, 64bit plugins can also be used and that's sort of it. You can still stay in 32 bit mode, you control click on the application Logic 9.1, click Get Info, and tick the box that says 'open in 32bit mode'.

Worth the upgrade, sorts out any of the version 9 bugs. Hope that helps.

  • Sounds like you're writing the perfect song to go nowhere...good luck with your "career".

  • I'm a tad confused at what I'm doing wrong. I am trying to make a sampler track, I followed the directions in the video: I dragged an apple loop in and the did convert using transient markers. It made a new track with the midi region all just fine, like you did in the video. However when I try to play on my keyboard on that track....no sound comes out. I am playing in the correct octave and what now, any ideas?

  • ok nevermind now, I am finding that it was becausethe loop I was using was too short. I don't know why that matters, but when I use a loop that is 16 beats or longer it works. if it's shorter than 16 beats, it doesn't work for some reason.

  • Nice Work !

    THANKS TONS

  • Hello David Earl,

I really appreciate your video's. I have learned pretty much every thing about Logic from watching them. I'm hoping you could help me understand the Chord Grid Library option in Logic Pro.

Logic Pro > Preferences >Chord Grid Library

Would you please explain how this Chord Grid Library works? Also, could the chords be assigned and triggered by midi notes? And how do you make other instruments like a piano as the default tuning instrument?

    dflatmusic

  • very cool man. thanks a bunch

  • I actually got this to work! I can't believe it! You're so awesome I can't thank you enough for your help!!!

  • Just upgraded to nine !!!! It was a fun 3 hours watching the little blue bar !!!

But I still can't find the speed fade :(

I don't seem to have this " fade" tool , just the crossfade as before ! I'm a stunned ( don't answer that ) or is it just hiding around a corner ??? Your help goes fuurther than u realize !!!! Arigato goizumas , ninja-san

  • WOOPS ! i figured it out ! never mind !

amazing what reading a manual will do ! full of information !

  • thanks dave, great effective explanations as always. i know your a busy guy, but i appreciate the time to take to illustrate the mysteries of logic

  • It would be cool if Logic had midi plug-ins

  • I'm having trouble with the CC20 and CC21 aspect of your video ive got the arp working nicely, but i cant get the buttons or knobs to assign to what you have im not sure i fully understand it all. ive watch all your videos and i am quite logic literate but this is confusing me. i have an M - audio oxygen 49 and i want to some how assign the stuff you have. p.s i got the transformer to divide properly i just cant assign please help!!!!

  • hey Ninja! I think your videos about logic pro tricks are most helpful comparing to others.

So i want to ask you something about Sample editor. As you know there are some functions like reverse, fade in, fade out, change gain and others. but can i somehow change balance (pan) in there? let's say i want to have half of audio sample in left, and other half in right channel. i know i can use automation, but maybe there's an easier way to do this?

    Thanks!

  • I choose sflogicninja. Though I would like to call you LogicMuzzy It more indicative of our video relationship and the very foreign inner-workings of the logic.

Your vids are so f-ing cool. I could go on for 259 more characters but i'll just leave with:

    Thanks, Thanks & Thanks!

  • Dave, please upload your videos to the itunes store as video podcasts!!!

    thanks for the great work

  • I've been using logic for as long as you been doing videos and i feel like the more advanced stuff is very useful now..good timing. and going over new features is cool too. thnx.... congrats on all your awesome projects

  • :|

I've been trying to emulate vinyl start up and stop effects on logic for ages!

    That's awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi, I'm looking in your idisk for the arp template, but it's nowhere to be found. Where might I be able to download this file?

  • @geek180

His olast video has a link attched to download the template. (via youtube not idisk)

  • DAVE! glad to see you've got a little time on your hands and you're not working too hard, though i'm sure you still are.

Thanks for the arp switcher, and also thanks for the little taste of Axiom tricks... i recently picked up an axiom pro 61, partly in anticipation of your upcoming axiom video! can't wait.

    keep up the bad-assery.

  • 素晴らしいビデオ忍者

  • much appreciated as always!!! you're truly a logic ninja!!!

  • hey David , much love from Vancouver ! is this speedfade only in Logic 9 ? cant seem to find it on 8 :(

  • @kevdog90 Only in 9.

  • hey david , much love from vancouver ! is that crossfade/tempo option only in logic 9 ? cant find it here in 8 ...:(

  • your stuff is awesome. thanks so much. you are a genius.

  • Wooo welcome back!

  • I've been using speed fades all the time today.... thanks for the tip!!

  • Super awesome as always! Nice one, Dave!

  • that speed up slow down thing was the biggest suprize ever!!!!!!!!!! How do you find out stuff like that. Click on every button and see what it does? ;) keep up the good work! Can't wait for new stuff to come!

  • Thanks for taking the time for this!

  • Will your arp work with logic 8?

  • sorry. Answered my own question by actually trying it out! :)

    Thanks Dave, this is SFLogicGenius.

  • @Troltwentythree yep. Logic will throw up a prompt, but after youu tell it to chill, you'l be fine.

  • @SFLogicNinja Logic is not good for sequencing

  • @pppeeeppee Why?

  • @SFLogicNinja Well because logic is a one way program. Meaning there is only one way to carry out one task. The program is overfeatured, I would say about 75% of the features is just not necessary. That is why there is like 7 to 8 books for this program. In my opinion, when it comes to sequencing tracks logic is not good in fact I found myself looking in the manual when using logic then actually creating music.

  • @pppeeeppee

i've found there's usually 3 or 4 ways to do everything in Logic.

every DAW has features that I wouldn't use, but honestly, I use Logic's many features all the time. Transform window, Environment, Hypereditor, advanced ultrabeat editing.... learn to use it all.

  • @pppeeeppee thats like saying a Strat is no good for playing guitar solo's

  • @pppeeeppee surely you jest?

  • @pppeeeppee

What do you use? Cool Edit?

  • Love it very useful

    THX!!!

  • u are the beast !!! in spanish eres la bestia chico le metes brutal!!

  • your videos are awesome!

  • how to you get to that arpeggiator screen? i pressed 8 and it just gave me the same arrange window. i have Logic 8. Is it because you have Logic 9? Thanks in advace

  • POW. . . no idea what you're talking about @SFLogicNinja. . . but its still very interesting.

  • So I come to your channel to see if i can find anything about drum replacing and the arpeggiator, and all you have is this brand new video that features both of them??

    Sweet!

  • 2:40.. lol

  • @bushmann001 the link is in the last arp video

  • Great stuff.

  • Where, exactly do i find the arp enviroment? I cant find it on your iDisk, Mr. David Earl.

  • does anyone know if theres a way to do an arp split, so that half the keyboard is arp'd and half isnt. This way I could freely play bass while playing arped chords

  • Dope, as usual =)

  • Thanks for putting so much quality into the library of Logic tuts you have.Priceless

  • Why is your intro music so cool?

  • Convert by Transient markers are annoying because there is no threshold you can set to how much transients it detects or not. I can't remember where I read it but if you use [ and ] for forward by transient and back by transient, and \ for slice by playhead locator. Then it makes things alot easier.

  • Mysterious Blank Comment.

  • Great environment show. I can't get enough of that environment goodness.

  • Can you do this stuff in logic express or is it a feature of logic studio? Thanks!

  • gotta love a new video!!!!! Thanks a mill twitter @dennylavish
