this is the second adagio movement, not the first movement.

This is the first movement. The movements go Slow-Faster-Fastest. C.P.E. Bach was experimenting with many different styles at this time, and arranged this sonata thus. If you purchase the Willow Hall publication there is historical information by Jane Weidensaul in the back.

This is the original first movement :) Are you playing the Zingel edition?

Not when you are playing the Lawrence, Grandjany or Zabaleta edition, then it's the second, as it should be.
