Thanks for sharing a lovely story Lhildebrand. Your daughter should be very proud.
To clarify the earlier argument, I intended the tune to be played exactly the way I played it. I'm perfectly capable of putting in doublings in every note if I chose to do so.
On the pipes, the way it should be played. I first heard this song at Girl Scout camp 45 years ago and was mesmerized. I decideded right then that if I ever had a daughter I would name her Skye. And so I did 34 years ago - and it totally suits her. When she got her Master's Degree I took her to Scotland to celebrate - and we had her 27th birthday dinner on the Isle of Skye. It was even more beautiful than I'd imagined.

Perhaps I shouldn't be saying so, but I was underscoring the difference between the Irish Piping approach, and the GHB way.
It's just funny to me when I see a comment that refers to someones playing a tune, (even though totally musically pleasing), and another fellow responds by asking "did you mean to leave doublings out.."
It's just the way it is I know: just strikes me funny sometimes.
A beautiful version of an old song. It is especially meaningful to me as I am related to Flora MacDonald, the young lass who was reported to have helped "Bonnie Prince Charlie". I hope to see Skye one day.
As an Englishman, who adores Scotland, and the Scots...thank you for posting!

"and was it your intention u kept some doublings out? (e and f)? "
that's why I like the Irish piping community..

@rgouette So you like the Irish piping community because this one piper of whom you assume to be Scottish misses out a couple of doublings?

I think they are between the Kyle of Lochalsh and Skye. Big clue may be the Skye bridge in the background.
