  • Can you hold these? Or are they to squirmy?

  • Can you tell me where I can get a possum like these?? Thanks!

  • These are the cutest possums ever <3 I love my own possum as well =)

  • =D ADORABLE - great job!!!

  • @pauljeremy87 :) Thanks!

  • I put my vote in for this video as a dislike. The reason being is, I am an opossum rehabilitator and the food that they are giving these opossums is so wrong. Opossums should never eat dairy products, which the processed cheese is. Also, opossum's diets shoud consist of only about 20% protein. Feeding them large chunks of what looks like some sort of processed meat is not good for them. Just because they stand up on their back legs for it doesn't mean that they should get it.

  • @amandaryan198

And you figure that their diet consisted of treats only??? If you really are an opossum rehabilitator, I'm sure you can see that they are healthy with shiny full coats and are full of energy. I have never seen a wild opossum look as healthy as these two. I guess I must have been doing something right.

I find it so funny when people are preaching 100% perfect diet to animals and at the same time feeding happy meals to their kids.

  • @cattleya4996 Well, I don't know anything about Happy Meals for kids, because I don't take care of kids and that's not what this is about anyway. They may look healthy now, but an improper diet takes time to show on the outside of the body. Too much protein leads to bone diseases, which you can't see in their coat or their activity level.

The reason why I posted is because as a rehabilitator I know that the info on their diets is hard to find, and I thought you might like to know.

  • @amandaryan198

Well thank you. I'm guessing you didn't notice the date on the video. It's really pointless to worry if they going to develop problems any more.

I do know what an opossum should be fed. They had a better died than I do. And they never developed MBD.

  • @wateRRlilYY Oh yea? You must be one of the PETA supporters...

How do you figure it's cruel? Do you not see that they got the treat every time? They just had to work for it. How much do you know about possums? They enjoy exercise. And they sure loved those treats. I have a dogs that will beg for treats, or a horse that likes to fetch, just to get a treat. I suppose that is cruel too.

There is nothing wrong with teaching animals tricks as long as you are fair and kind.

  • @cattleya4996 hahaha i never knew opossums could stand on their hind legs!! look at their standing like don king!!!

  • @cattleya4996 Stop feeding the trolls!

  • Я тоже хочу опоссума. Жаль в России их нет ¦(

  • @lovegenman

Not sure if you speak English. I do not have a Russian keyboard.

I know possums are not available over there. They do not make the best pets anyways. They are lot like cats; have no need to please you. And they are nocturnal. So unless you like to be up at night you wouldn't enjoy them much. Another bad thing is, that they don't live very long.

  • They are so cute. I love their little hands. What was the treat?

  • I currently have 3 snakes, 3 cats, an English bulldog, & 2 saltwater aquariums filled with aquatic life. I've hand raised fox faced fruit bats, raccoons, deer, horses, ravens, crows, skunks, macaws, monkeys, armadillos, AND ram a rescue shelter. I've worked at exotic pet stores & was a vet tech. I know a lot about animals, thank you very much. I believe in exercise, which is why they love toys of all types. Teasing an animal with food should never be considered as a form of exercise.

  • @mistressredhen You like to brag about yourself don't you? :D

I could understand your concern if I teased them, as showing them the food and not letting them have it. There is nothing wrong making them work for their treats. ;)

  • @mistressredhen first off your lieing, seccond if you know anything about animals then you know in the wild they have to work to get there food and to survive. So making them work for a treat is ok

  • How do I know when he is ready to go back to the wild? I have had him on a puppy formula/baby rice/ applesauce/pedialyte mixture diet and I think he is ready to start eating other things but I am not sure. Also, I just noticed that the little guy has some fleas. Do you know if there is an opossum safe flea treatment? He is about 5-6'' long at the moment... Thank You for the reply!

  • You should never tease any animal like that. What a horrible pet parent. It doesn't promote good bonding between your animal & you.

  • @mistressredhen

You don't know much about animals do you? They need exercise. There is nothing wrong with making them put some effort in to getting their food.

And as far as good bonding goes...go ahead and watch some of my other videos. Than we can talk about good bonding.

  • good kicking

  • How old were they when you got them? I live in the Pacific Northwest and A baby Opossum found his way in to my house about a week ago. The animal shelters and rehabilitation centers within any reasonable distance do not handle wildlife so I have decided to adopt him until he can be released back to the wild. I would love to ask you a few questions if you are free to answer.

  • @dieFledermausie

These were born in my house. I rescued their mom. But I am currently taking care of some baby possums that aren't quite weaned yet.

Go ahead and ask any questions you have. I'll be happy to help if I can.

  • My Possum likes to lick my fingers and cheeks after im done eating >>; i have to keep the bathroom closed with a lock from the outside cuz he knows how to open the door XD

  • Reminder: DO NOT feed oppossums meat, especially babies/juveniles. They can develop MBD and die very slow, painful deaths.

  • @PubliusAfricanus

My possums didn't develop MBD. As long as they are fed a varied diet they can have meat.

I fed them a lot of baby food, fruits, eggs, some meat, crickets and cat food.

We get a lot of wild possums around here, they feed on carrion frequently. They also like to kill and eat my chickens.

And I can assure you I have never seen a wild possum as healthy with such shiny coat as mine were.

  • Aren't opossums wild animals?

  • @jarandel100

Yes they are. I rescued their mom.

  • This is awesome!!!!!!

  • So lovely how they reach for the thing you feed them. And how they are standing. Oh so adorable! <3

  • how old are they in this video? I have a possum to. He is 1 and a half and is my best friend in the whole world.

  • @snuffysgal They were about as old as yours is. :)

  • 1:23 is just funny

  • Totally cute!

  • So cute. Funny ol things. :)

  • Where Do You Get Those Cutie Pies?

  • @lilsushi1 I rescued their mom. She gave birth couple of days later.

  • @cattleya4996 Oh I WANT THEM!!!!

  • They eat sooo Cute<3!!

  • How do you get your opossums to be friendly to one another?

  • @imb0ssi

You don't. They are solitary animals. These two were siblings born in captivity and grew up together.

  • I've heard that possums can be dangerous pets and I don't think that they are. But I have a question. Have you ever been bitten by one of these?

  • @unforgivin01 When they know you, they don't bite you (at least mine doesn't bite me). And, if they bit you, nothing would happen to you.

  • Where do you got your opossum?

  • Where du tou got your opossum?

  • SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! do they bite?

  • its funny how they get it with thier hands

  • how do you potty train these things?

  • @baezalejandro

    The same as cats.

  • @cattleya4996 so he has a litter box and everything? he even cover it up himself?

  • @baezalejandro No they didn't cover it up.

I actually taught mine to go in the bath tub. I placed the litter box by the drain and they always went there. One day I went to clean the litter box and they still went to the same spot. So I stopped giving it to them. It made my life really easy. I just rinsed it every time they went to potty. It was much cleaner that way.

    They are really smart animals.

  • Their hands are so little & cute ! :)

  • stop torturing them! as cute as it is xD

  • @P4brains I was not torturing them. They just had to work for their treats. Exercise was good for them.

  • @cattleya4996 their arms are to tiny for that though >.<

  • ya real funny until one flys across your room and lands on your face...

  • @MrGhostphone

Huh? They don't fly. And they were allowed in the house when I could watch them. They just couldn't stay unsupervised, because they would try to steal stuff to make themselves a sleeping place.

  • somebody give them a hand extension!

  • Aawww... So cute. :) You should have kept them. A domesticated rat lives 2-4 years, their wild relatives only live an average of 6 months. If they were born into captivity and love they won't know any difference if that's where they stay. Someone a long looong time ago had the crazy idea that a dog and a cat should be pets.

  • @timegrrl

Well, we were planning to move and they cannot be caged up. They need a room to roam; much like a cat. I wouldn't have a whole room just for them any more, so they were kept in a pen outside until they became adapted to wild. One day they just left by themselves.

  • @cattleya4996

    about how big are they?

  • @timegrrl Not true. I rescued a baby rat from my cat and nursed it back to health. She quadrupled in size but always insisted on trying to escape -- I even got her a domestic friend! Eventually she did escape. Wild is instinct, not "a difference they won't know."

  • wait so some people actually don't find opossums to be freaking adorable?...

  • I can only hope my opossums look as healthy as yours when they get that big. Kudos!

  • @fragilephish Thank you! :)

  • do they bite you?

  • @yordonakadondon No they would never bite me.

  • I think opossums are so cute! I wouldn't mind caring for one. <333

  • AAAAAAAAAH I WANT OOOOOOOOOOONE! I'M OBSESSED WITH THOSE ANIMAAAAAAAAAAALS! T________T

  • Omg , they are so cute.

  • oh come on just give it to them!!

  • they're so fucking adorable!

  • Your so lucky

  • Adorable. I have one that I found when he was just weeks old. They are just the best

  • lol, they look like big fat rats, i love my rat

  • people are so cruel when an animal doesnt look visually pleasing this animals arnt really that mean they will hiss and make smacking sounds when scared

but for the most part if you leave them alone they will leave you alone

  • @darkmyro I agree with you. People are very cruel. Not sure why, very often, when I mention I love possums, they have the need to explain to me how they use the showel to kill them. :(

  • @cattleya4996

I don't like people who kill things just for fun.

If I saw something like that, I'd force them to eat what they killed or failing that just break their arms.

  • @cattleya4996 I totally hate people like that, it's just sad how they are. What treats do you give them btw? (I'd like to give yummy treats for mine, yours seem to love those treats)

  • @cattleya4996 They do that to comfort themselves to not feel guilty.

I'm vegan (but don't expect anyone else to do the same, just a personal life choice) but any time I tell anyone, they proceed to tell me how bloody they like their steaks and how much they love to kill and eat animals. Again, no judgement against those that eat animals, but shows how much people like being a dick.

  • omfg so adorable <3

  • Thank you so much. I really enjoyed this.

You must be a very lovely person to have cared for these little possoms.

i had one that came into my room every night...

It was a bit startling, but I soon began to feel okay with it.

He would walk on the keys of the piano.

    Anyway, thanks again for sharing.

    - Michael

  • @jalalabad308

    Thank you Michael. :)

  • NUM NUM NUUUM NUM :D

  • @dinosuar11030

Well I'm a little lucky, animals tend to like me, even the wild ones.

So no, they don't bite me.

However opossums are generally very mild mannered. They only act scary.

    I sent you a PM.

  • @cattleya4996 oh hail great druid.

  • @cattleya4996 haha yeah didn't the grizzly man say that what ever happened to him ...oh yeah he was eaten and his girlfriend too. well what ever floats your boat just had to comment on wild animals liking you

  • @miketlane I don't play with grizzly's, nor do I look for dangerous situations. However if an animal needs my help I cannot just look the other way...

To be able to help does in fact float my boat. ;)

  • @dinosuar11030 I didn't catch them. I found their mom in the middle of highway. She was hit by a car. Had her sinus bones and jaw broken, also lost her eye. She gave birth two days later. These were two of her babies.

  • 0:37 gimme GIMME! dammit!

  • so cute!

  • Hampossum loves hams. HE WANTS IT!

  • They look very healthy and their fur seems well maintained. You say they were rescued? That is a very kind act on your part.

Not to be a downer, but I believe a true "rescue" would end in them returning to the wild, but it's clear they are beyond that point now. Oh, domestication...

They are truly adorable. Hope you lead a more fulfilling life with these unique friends of yours!

  • @SrRosado

I have never said they spent their whole life with me. I wish they would...I still miss them.

They lived the rest of their life in the wild. ;)

  • This reminds me of the Meet the Robinsons' T-Rex:

    "I HAVE A BIG HEAD...AND LITTLE ARMS!"

  • I never thought opossums were cute until I saw that. I love how their little paws grab for the food!!

  • SOOOO cute!! And that's a nice way to make them stretch, haha. They might need the exercise, lol.

  • Had one of these. They are a lot of fun! Great creatures. Cool to see this!

  • Have one of these that wanders the yard where I work at night, we just kind of exchange hellos and go about our business. He snarled at me I guess that was a hello

  • Love those little opposable thumbs, "Gimme gimme gimme"!

  • it's always a treat to watch them again

  • wow, ur opossums r a little on the fat side, but cute. do they take vitamins or something to keep them from getting sick?

  • Be careful what you feed them.....

  • @PossumFang No worries. They had a really good and varied diet. ;)

  • @cattleya4996 lol it looks like theyre fav is cheese

  • awweee they are CUTE. usually the ones in the wild are ugly. lol.

  • lo must...reach...fruit....rollup

  • Thats so cute! I really want an opposum! How did you get one? :o

  • @Yimioko Thanks! :) I rescued their mom. Found her bleeding, sitting in a middle of highway.

  • @cattleya4996 Ohhhh which country can they be found? :o

  • @Yimioko US

  • will they consume insects as well?

  • @MikroBadass Yes! They are so much fun to watch hunting for crickets. :)

I keep several lizards so I always keep crickets on hand.

I used to offer them crickets quite often.

  • His arms are too fat and stubby to reach that cheese!

  • Rodents standing on their hind legs ftw!

  • @EnragedSephiroth Marsupials ;)

  • it's so nice to see someone who's not hitting them with a shovel!...they're adorable!

  • @tomcolin1 Thank you!

  • Oh well thats nice at least the mother had a nice life and the babies are free good job taking care of them!

  • @PWnfacelover2000 Thank you! :)

  • Wow there cute what exactly are there names and is there mother okay after being hit by the car and taken in by you?

  • @PWnfacelover2000

They don't have names. They are in the wild now.

Their mom died of an old age. But until her end she was doing great. She healed up very well. Being blind on one eye didn't bother her at all. She didn't like to chew anything hard though. I think it was hurting her jaw. So she was fed soft food only. Had no problems munching that down. She had a good life, spoiled with a lot of treats :)

    I miss them...

  • I accualy have an orphan possum, I really need to figure out what to feed him. He likes fruit but i need to find a better variety so he will not develop MBD. Any help would be apriciated! =D

  • @CreativeCartoon I sent you a message...Good luck! :)

  • lol reach for the sky! XD

  • i Got some babies today from a mother who was killed by a car. 5 babies alive in the sack. they have there eyes open and so far im feeding them kitten milk replacer. I am searching on how to worm them when older cause years ago we had some and they died of worms we didnt know to deworm them

  • D'aawww... So cute <3 They're like ferrets and rats fused together~ My two favorite rodent-like pets. And yes, I know ferrets aren't rodents.

  • DUDE THESE POSSUMS ARE AWESOME NICE JOB CARING FOR THEM:)

  • @recsxed Thanks :)

  • dats mean wut yur doin', just give dem da damn food

  • I love their paws

  • So cute! I wish I had a pet opossum. ;3; Are they hard to take care of, and you need a special license, right(to own them)?

  • omg so cute! i wish they sold them as pets but sadly like racoons they are not.

  • It looks like a prison. Do you ever release them into a backyard? a garden?

  • @baroneska100

How can you judge from one video that their set up looks like a prison???

    It shows nothing.

  • Cute!!

  • loool when they stand up they remind me of ewoks

  • 1 word, adorable

  • You're a jerk. Feeding the other one more than the one on the top part.

  • these guys r so freaking beutiful

  • @ijoj1 Thanks! :)

  • @cattleya4996 where did you get or find one of these!

  • @theman8083 I rescued their mom.

  • You can have them as pets? SWEET!

  • Just adorable. :)

  • Your possums look as if they might be black ones. I have only seen 4 like that.

Also, if those treats were meat, you must know that too much protein can cause Metabolic Bone Disease which means they do not develop normally and cannot be released.

  • @sdoby1

They had a really good and varied diet. They did developed very well and were healthy. ;)

  • They Are Just So Adorable...Now I Want Some Opposums For Pets :D

  • You are the only one ive seen that can make those even look cute!

  • aww lol

  • They are so incredibly Cute <3 O.O

  • wow they get lots of love big guys ....soo cute

  • To cute they are adorable very cute face and eyes I just adore them, it was funny the way the posum couldn't reach the Tortilla chips it was like " hey! gimmie, gimmie, gimmie give it here" To funny and to cute by the way those were tortilla chips it sounded kinda crunchy :-D

  • @Jujyreign No chips...that was cheese. ;)

  • Cute opossums, where can I get one at, I live in Houston? and yes we do have stray opossums running around but I want one just like yours tell me where to get them

  • @hpdofficertony No idea where to get them. I rescued their mom. She got hit by a car. I found her bleeding in the middle of highway. She gave birth two days after I brought her home.

  • @cattleya4996 i have always wanted a possum, do i have to try and find a stray baby or could you tame one?

  • @hpdofficertony Contact a wildlife rescue. They are always looking for fosters this time of year!

  • @hpdofficertony there are tons of opossums in houston they live in patches of woods all around apartment buildings and any place with trash to eat and are always being hit by cars. just go find a burrow and swipe them babies

  • Comment removed

  • i have no idea what you said

  • i want one D:

  • I just want to go in and save the one you left behind to starve..... LOL

  • Nice-lookin' RIVER-RATS!!!

  • @LOUDNESSrocks

Why do you go on every opossum video you can find and call them river rats? O.o

  • Thats cuz they ARE river-rats!! They made a mess of the Carrier Canal in Bakersfield,California. The Carrier Canal, a high-volume by-pass canal along the Kern River, has sustained heavy damage in several locations (Including a concrete lining failure at 21st, and Oak Streets, there the critters dug tunnels under the canal lining) Several areas alond the dirt-canal section along Truxton Avenue had big tunnels cut into it's banks by these critters!!!!!

  • @LOUDNESSrocks these critters were here first.

  • Also, a huge concrete lining- failure on the Friant-Kern Canal near Visalia,California in 1997-I'm sure they may have had something to do with that!!!!! The Friant-Kern Canal is one of Caifornia's main canals, used to carry huge amounts of water from Friant Dam to farms in several counties in Centrial California. It is 152 miles long and has a 5,000-C.F.S. capacity at it's starting point (at Friant Dam) north-east of Fresno, CA.
