This was my ex-boyfriends favourite song. He would play this over and over while on the phone with me. Months after our breakup, I ran across this song and finally realized why he loved this song so much.
@matatmat LOL "pearl jam fans" never cease to amaze me. back when riot act came out all you heard was "pearl jam has turned into shit.. if only they were as good as they were 8 years ago..."
Now, two albums and eight years later riot act starts getting the recognition it has always deserved...
Yes I think so, Just Breathe and The End are two of the most soulful tunes PJ have written. Perhaps there isn't as much depth to the songwriting but the feeling and emotion is there in abundance.
@TheGargantuanSock i think they are deep songs but they just dont 'capture' me like their old ones do. They've always been a versatile band but i think the new genre they are trying to approach seems a little too different from what they've previously wrote
@TheGargantuanSock I agree with both of you on some levels, when they are mad at something they make their best music like their first few albums and their album in 06, yield was the only one which did not fit that description.
Their songs and music still has that deep emotional pull that all the others had. When it comes to the harder stuff, I think that Riot Act had exactly what they used to have back in the day. But their emotional stuff still hits home.
I recently sae on VH1 classic a list of the top 100 artists of all time, that PJ was #93. This I disagree with strongly. But then again, I've been a fan since '91. So, I guess I'm biased.
the lyrics ring true with the overall mood,its truly a song to make u feel not so alone when u may have been feeling "hopeless"especially if u play it urself acoustic but this will always be the best version
Well, after getting to this point, I must say it is a decent PJ album. Have they ever made a really bad one?? A tough question to answer...

@nanaki789 haha!
dont get me wrong, i still think they're pretty good.
It's just the new album, the songs rock- but they just don't have as much depth or emotion
can you honestly say their new songs are as amazing and meaningful?
well that's just my opinion i suppose

Most definitely. Pearl Jam hasn't missed a beat.
