I must admit to being a jem boy when i was a kid...this version of the theme was my favourite and I loved the show...The series finale was quite touching..and I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for a Jem movie (they've done GI Joe and Transformers all put out by Sunbow same as Jem!!)

I love the 1st and 2nd theme song from Jem! My sister and I'd watch this everyday and we got some Jem dolls that comes with cassette! I think my mom still keep it. Jem is better than Barbie! Do you like Jem or you a Jem fan?! I'm a Jem fan and love Jem!

@BlackBarbii I believe that the reason that they changed the theme is because they found out that there really was a band called "The Misfits" and didn't want to get into any legal trouble. Admittedly, that is a case of "should've done their homework" but what can you do about it?

No, this was this second theme song. As the show went on, they would alternate between this and the original slower theme song. By the final season, only this theme song was used, maybe because of the introduction of the other rival group, the Stingers.

This is the original theme song, as evident by its placement in most of the first season. Tho the second theme cropped up in episode #5. I don't know why they opted to have two opening sequences, the music for the closing credits is the same music for the alternative into mentioned here.

actually this is the second theme from the series. Go back to when Jem first aired as part of Super Sunday with Bigfoot & Robotix. It was the "Jem" theme, not the "Jem Girl" theme. Not to mention the first doll promo commercial had the "Jem" theme, and all the dolls came with the "Jem" Theme. Only into the third season did they use "JemGirl". Rhino released it incorrectly. Rhino's 3rd season release of Jem also has some of the episodes out of order.

I like this version of the intro song better than the other. It's more bouncy and fast and really gets you into it and excited for the episode to start. I also like the added scenes in the intro with Jem swinging on a vine over a crocadile and her air guitaring with Asia!

@brtyst That's why people used to hate so called "Japanimation" like Speed-racer until the 2000s when it became cool "anime". American cartoons were "fully animated", which meant longer production times, more animators on staff and higher production costs.

They just don't have the will or the means to do it like this again.

They changed it because the first theme was originally used in the commercial to promote the the Jem Doll collection. They want to create a more "Girl Power!" image for Jem, and not just a market for the toys. The message was "You can be a Jem Girl!!!"
