China banned youtube because youtube can post fake news as a joke, and English people/Americans etc. understand English so they know it's a joke, but some Chinese people whose English isn't very good don't understand that it's a joke, so they mistake it for real, leading to confusion.

That is why. The Chinese goverment have a reason for things that happen :)

According to news reports, Youtube was banned March 2008 due to heavy anti-Chinese content including talks of Tibet and human rights abuses. If you check out Amnesty Int'l web site, you will know for sure they are banned because of their discussions over Tibet and other human rights abuses.
