Kinggreese79, That WAS Michael Hampton playing on the 1976 live version. That song was recorded during rehearsal for the P-Funk Earthtour at an airport hanger in Newburg. Eddie Hazel was in jail at the time. Eddie Hazel played on the original studio version from the album, Cosmic Slop. Michael tore it up on this and the 1976 live version. I wish that people would stop it with the comparisons. Michael is a great guitarist as was Eddie Hazel. They had different styles, but both were great.
Actually,Bootsy and Bernie were the main composers of Cosmic Slop. The 1973 version was played by Ron Bykowsky( white soul brother) using two Marshall stacks at opposite ends of the room. Guess where I heard that story......Gary Shider (R.I.P.)
the reason this verson is so good is because of Eddie Hazel. He would make some rare appearences on some of the later P-Funk tours, including this Houston stop on the 1979 Aqua Boogie Tour. Eddie does the rythm guitar throughout the song and it is noticebly funkier. Just listen to the rythm guitar behind the solos and it'll all make sense. Eddie wrote the song only he could do it the best
This is a beautiful version of Cosmic Slop with Michael "Kid Funkadelic" Hampton and the late great Garry Shider sharing solos. This is one of the better versions with Garry taking his solo. Some others don't have enough volume on Garry's solo. RIP Garry. We miss you!
Thank you very much for this video, which has been missing for some years now. Hopefully it will stay for good now! A very good version of Cosmic Slop.

@SSW2424 This version is pretty good. But I like this version in D.C. It was mostly Gary on the second solo.
