  • Thanks for posting this speech. : )

  • President Kennedy words illuminate the issues of our times and resonate with many of us who rely on SSI and Medicare, not as a "hand out, but a hand up." We need definitive and insisive leadership articulated iwith sincere meaning as witnessed in this video. God Bless our Nation and the world at large in these challenging times.

  • Clinton could articulate this issue in a more direct and specific manner.

  • Excellent speaker and leader.

He just happened to be wrong on the government's role with regard implementation of the solution to the issue of uninsured Americans.

  • Excellent speaker and leader.

He just happened to be wrong on the government's in the implementation of this solution.

  • We will not tolerate socialism in America. Repeal social security now.

  • @HomleandSecurity social security is HUMANISM. The communist say IF you do not work you do not eat.

    Is it human to you?

  • JFK criticized Big Steel in a populist speech for their price fixing. This isn't exactly JFK acting as pro-laissez faire. He criticized a paranoia against regulation.

  • JFK supported health care reform (beyond just private effort. This was for seniors, but opponents back then called it as apart of socialism), housing legislation, believed in immigration reform, loved the 2nd Amendment, wanted peace with the Soviet Union (even in a joint Moon race project), etc. He wasn't totally a conservative. He was Independent.

  • Kennedy's plan was concerning Senior Citizens, not ALL Americans like Obama's expensive plan does. Two totally different things. Kennedy is NOT advocating Nationalized Healthcare. Simply an expansion of the role of Social Security into the medical expenses of Senior Citizens.

  • I use to have that philosophy until I saw people witness expensive insurance. Socialism isn't right since private enterprise should exist. Yet at same time in a recession, radical solutions ought to be achieve in order to make sure help is given while at the same time we don't create a extremely dependent culture. The government isn't hollow. Even the Constitution outline key provisions that it should do to create economic vitality.

  • "Nobody here wants something for nothing, they are willing to contribute during their working years and that's the principle that has been lost sight of."

I hate to say it but we all want to contribute just enough to justify our entitlement from the government and that means with socialism your heart just cant be in the work, because others will get the same as you and won't work, so everyone does just enough. Hardwork today seems more like a front or facade than actual production.

  • @MikeMotes

In America, we're conditioned to just look away from the wealthy, never question them. Never even conceptualize what THEY do as wealth redistribution.

Look, people hate their fucking jobs because they give all they have to make someone else rich, just to go home to debt & unpaid bills.

And the rich just won't allow us to blame them. No, it couldn't possibly be their fault, they couldn't possibly just be USING people.

I think people are RIGHT to feel shorted. We ARE.

  • @MikeMotes

The entitlement is all at the top. "You do all the work, I get all the money."

I mean how the hell did we ever get talked into thinking that was part of a free, democratic society? How the hell did we get talked into thinking that the guy who MAKES the money deserves 1% and the guy who simply OWNS him gets the other 99%?

It's bullshit. And I'm familiar with the excuses. "Job creators need capital" "it all falls back on the CEO's"

But I think really, PEOPLE JUST LIKE MONEY.

  • @IAMtheNewWorldOrder I thought it was interesting how everyone clapped, when JFK described the English system of government choices from cradle to grave, really just laughable. People do like money, but really people need it now because we've become to over specialized. Work a production job and you get nothing because in a world with 7 billion people, distribution, marketing, and just getting the product to people, I mean coordinating the logistics of consumption, is 99% of the work. It's sad..

  • But, if you don't like it, another will pretend to for a while. Turns out though, that no one likes production jobs anymore because they are all underpaid. America needs to hang itself, regardless, because our democratic system can't deal with enemies from within. We always overspend and overborrow, if we ask for anymore rope, China might think we want to hang the earth.Federal Reserve notes never belonged to the people of America anyway, ostensibly enough we can't be rich, we didn't make the $.

  • He was more independent. If you was around today, he would be a moderate Democrat or a moderate Republican. He supported tax cuts, but oppose tax allowance for oil corporations. He supported health care reform, housing reform, NASA, immigration reform, he was pro-gun rights, , etc. So, he wasn't exactly a total liberal or a total conservative.

  • @TruthSeeker24

Of course...when you consider what the tax rates WERE in his day...I think the rate for the wealthiest Americans was about 70-75%?

I mean, it was MUCH higher than where Obama has it at.

And contrary to republican talking points, democrats aren't really just about taxing the shit out of everyone, they're usually about taxing the rich a fair percentage, and leaving middle class people alone.

But of course the rich always make their problems everyone else's problems.

  • Do a utube of "JFK tax cuts" that are in favor of corporations. He was a good bluedog or republican...take your pick. But for sure he wasn't an Obama socialist. In fact, Obama couldn't even carry his golf clubs! Cheers!

  • " Because the buisness of government is the buisness of the PEOPLE!"

-JFK Next time you here a republican saying how we should trash the universal health bill because govt. gets in the way and only fouls up free enterprise, please reminded him of these word said by a President who's sole care was helping the people, not lobbiest who put millions of dollars in republican representatives bank accounts to mis-inform and scare the american people. We need universal helth care NOW!

  • Listen to 8:05-8:012 for you who are being scared away from universal health care by republican scare tatics.

  • Comment removed

  • Fucking heavyweight

  • If Kennedy was alive today and President, Beck, LImbaugh and FoxNews would be trying to destroy him.

  • I agree with you kinakina

  • Kinakina123123 of course the republicans would try to destroy Kennedy but they could not. He would cut through their lies and sound bites to get to the problem at hand...like health care. 17 yrs ago I paid $17.85 for health coverage. Today I pay $355.00 a month for it. What's it going to be 10 years from now and how about those who can't afford it? Just forget them so millionares can pay less taxes? Kennedy had a heart for the needy, let us follow his lead!

  • I agree. He would be just as effective and impressive today as he was in the 1960's. He transcends time really.

  • @kinakina123123

No they wouldnt. Kennedy wouldnt be welcomed into the Democratic Party today simply because he was a tax cutter and strong on military defense.

  • @NickB1121 nice try. But you're full of shit

  • @greeniem

Typical Liberal response.....no facts and only insults. Im sure you will win over many people to your side of the argument with such a simple argument. LOL

  • @NickB1121 typical lying cock dog , making shit up like the usual pedophile

  • @greeniem

LOL, whatever you say. You are just proving my point even further. Liberals have no legit arguments except for personal insults. No wonder those Confederate Democrats never really changed their ways in the 60s.....it was Republicans who, percentage wise, were more in favor of civil rights ect.

  • @NickB1121

No, the speech speaks for itself. Especially the first two minutes. If Obama used that kind of rhetoric today Fox News & the teabaggers would call it unprecedented socialism and class warfare.

  • @NickB1121

Obama cut taxes for 95% of American families. (Whether they realize it, or admit or not) and he extended and reinforced the war in Afghanistan.

  • @IAMtheNewWorldOrder Obama raised taxes!

  • @kinakina123123

Not to mention, the Kennedy plan being proposed back then was payed for by workers paying into the system while they work. Obama's current system simply prints money out of thin air and borrows from China to pay for this. Over 10 full years of implementation, the cost is $2.4 Trillion. Obama claimed it wouldnt surpass $874 Billion, yet AFTER its passed, the estimates change to $2.4 Trillion.

  • @kinakina123123

No, they wouldnt. Kennedy was a Conservative my today's standards. JFK wouldnt even be welcome in today's Democratic Party. Look up JFKs speech on tax cuts for all Americans to help strengthen the economy. He was pro-business. He was pro-military. He stood for all the things that today's GOP stands for. And this speech in this video is concerning Social Security for senior citizens, and NOT Socialized healthcare for all, as Obama has now done.

  • @NickB1121

You can tell JFK was a hard core liberal because here he is eloquently arguing for the SOCIALIST program now known as Medicare. Also in this speech Big Jack is extolling the accomplishments of the most liberal presidents in history: Lincoln, FDR, Wilson. He also says liberals can't just rest upon accomplishments of the New Deal, but need to go forward with this new legislation, & massive increase in govt to make healthcare more affordable for the most vulnerable people in society.

  • @kinakina123123 do not be sad. The newspapers are crap here in Argentina too.

TN news channel from Argentina is like your Fox news or CNN.

  • @kinakina123123 And they would FAIL.

  • this man is exceptional! the delivery analysis and compassion is outstanding and essential!!!

his speech is indeed witty, logical, structured, essential, simple, and most of all original and coming from his independent mind!

An American mind at his best....unfortunately never achieved again yet

this what had made this country great......

this matter is too important.....to leave it to misinformation and deception...

  • "The business of government is the business of the people. and the people are right here"

  • wow, what the hell happened to American politics , it looks like a circus put on to the public compared to this.........I live in Canada and in southwestern ontario we get more wound up over the US elections than our own , videos like this tell me hwo that started. Canadian politics are "different" . usualy winds up a yelling contest at ours, lots of name calling . bush was pretty good at returning sarcasm with insult ,he'd do well up here

  • Kennedy's speech here depicts the art of engaging people to listen to something substantial delivered in a precise and articulate way. Even a thousand miles journey begins with first step and he has taken that first step here to get the bill passed. Remember we are talking about 1962 where HAWKS in the establishment were more conservative than they are now. " The business of the government is the business of the People and People are right here."

  • Little did this great man know that he would not reach the age of 65, nor the age of 55 but the young age of 46 (younger than Obama is now) when he died.

  • EXTRAORDINARY

  • TRULY MAGNIFICENT analytical skills 360 degree

    fantastic!

  • President John Fitzgerald Kennedy had true Charisma and even greater leadership quality's.

  • This was truly a magical era in American history. You do not see these kinds of politicians or these kinds of speeches today and we may never see them again.

  • Magnificent.

  • wow he a good speeker.....................

  • For those interested, this speech took place on May 20, 1962.

  • Thanks pal, I was trying to figure what year this was. :)

  • Watch both parts of this speech. I did't see JFK even look down at notes! Did he have any or was this all off the cuff? You couldn't rehearse this. Truly amazing, and the mark of a true statesman. The moron living on Pennsylvania Avenue today couldn't accomplish this with a three minute speech on his best day.

  • Here's a great speech by a beloved president. Other people posting here are inspired by his words & all you can do is vomit all over yourself about how Barack uses a teleprompter?

You remind me of the chimps at the zoo who are incapable of rational thought so they just throw their feces at passers by.

You take umbrage at the mere hint of comparison to another president. But I guess cons get off on being assh*les. Since conservatism has become impossible to defend, it is all that you have left.

  • Oh, and by the way Barack does write many of his own speeches, like his great Philadelphia speech on race. That speech was in response to right wing Republican douchebag smears. Because when you have nothing constructive to contribute, just being an assh*le is it's own justification.

He also wrote both of his books. Really he's a very good writer. No president has time to write all of his own speeches. It would take too much of their time.

  • John F. Kennedy was not your typical politician, he was a statesman and a true leader. Something we in American haven't seen since his time. God grant you peace Mr. President and thank you.

  • i listen to what he's saying and i don't listen to politicians much i mean i'm from the bush generation...u can understand

  • Brilliant speaker, these words are true today. JFK was brilliant.

    on healthcare in Europe...

"What we are now talking about doing, most of the countries of Europe did years ago,"

"We are behind every country pretty nearly in Europe in this matter of medical care for our citizens,"

    Still true today.

  • How much progress have we made during the administrations of FDR to JFK and how much have we made since then? I wonder.

  • very true

  • It is difficult to believe that this man had the same job as George W. Bush does now.

  • Kennedy worked for the American people. Bush works for the military industrial complex. Not exactly the same job really.

  • How far we have fallen.

  • Interesting.
