while I've always respected the amazing talent of these musicians and their music.....the singing ruins the entire band for me on every album I've ever heard by them.
this is quite cool, got their first two album as a present from a friend and looking at the cover pictures i expected some crappy "not good but cult"- band. butthis rocks indeed. btw, strange bass guitar ^^

Damn, one of the most underrated bands ever in the U.S. Blows most of the American Thrash scene right off the map. Euros are often given credit for the best Black, Power, and Heavy Metal bands ever, but are rarely given credit for Thrash. Well, these guys are as good as their American counterparts IMHO.

I feel like it's a new version of the original Black Sabbath I'm seeing and listening to in this video for some reason - can anyone possibly explain this or is it just me?
Wow... Not at all... This is PROGRESSIVE THRASH, and is in no way reminiscent of Black Sabbath's Black Sabbath...
Honestly though, great fuckin' song. Love the singer's attitude during 3:39, where he smacks with his hand, and jolts his head forward. Gives the song some strong thrash undertones.
Mekong Delta's original guitar players, Frank Fricks, and Reiner Kelch, are clearly better musicians than Uwe Baltrusch, and the recent newcomer, Peter Lake.
Well opinions vary. But Frank Fricke and Reiner Kelch are clearly the more talented guitar players in MD's lineup. They are both self-taught, and brought quite an amazing distinction to the overall Mekong Delta sound, if not the musical concept. Guitar solos are where the two really thrived, and outclassed most of the better musicians of the thrash/speed/progressive genre. Peter Lake has spent years emulating, and adapting to the style of Mekong Delta but he is not the one who put MD on the map.
Peter Lake spent years listening to musicians like Yngwie Malmsteen. He's not emulating or adapting to the style of Mekong Delta. He plays (with certain freedom) what Ralf has composed. The only thing you can accuse him of, is trying to let his guitar sound like the the original Mekong Delta.
You forget that MD is NOT about the musicians, but about the music... Ofcourse it is true that there wouldn't be a band without the musicians, but any other TECHNICAL TALENTED guitar player can learn to play songs by MD ofcourse... It is not important who did what and when.
this song has a very dark atmosphere. mekong delta is great!
