  • from Jose Sepulveda, the hermeterec......I AM a Brazilian.....ther is no way what you are playing in this video is indicative or characteristic of Brazilian music. It is TERRIBLE! Even for what you (I am assuming) are TRYING to do it is very, very poor.

  • The strumming is for funk and the bossa feel is lifeless, sorry that's just how it sounds to my ears. I suggest you listen to some great players like Daniel Santiago his rhythm playing really come alive.

  • @nandano I watched a video of Daniel accompany a singer in Rome. He is an excellent rhythm player. I am not presenting myself as a performer as is Daniel Santiago playing on a stage in Europe. I am a private guitar teacher who mostly meets students one on one to help them progress with their guitar skills. The main point of this video is to show interesting ways of playing a song that has many of the same chord patterns over and over again. There are pdfs of the chord voicings on my website.

  • Thanks so much, this is an exceptionally good lesson!!

  • why are you playing it in a funk groove?

  • @djbot I think of the chord strumming part as more of a samba feel.

  • Excellent, mate! Your lesson was inspiring! Your originality shines through one of the most recorded bossa nova numbers

  • @bungy007 Thanks for your positive comment!

  • Thanks so much! I'm taking Music Arts in college and this helped a lot.

  • thanks so much this is amazing

  • Top notch presentation!

All the useful info clear and concise

    Best I've seen!

  • @micmacmike I really appreciate this comment coming from you since you are obviously a skilled player and teacher. This video has become one of my most popular videos. These are the kinds of material that I cover in my private guitar lessons: coming up with arrangements to jazz standards and providing in-depth theoretical analysis of the harmonic structures so as to expand on the lead sheet provided in a standard fake book.

  • A Essential information, thank you very much!!

  • thanks.

  • This is awesome! Thanks , you have helped alot :)

  • @guitarlickable thanks for your positive feedback. In this tutorial video, I wanted to show that even though the same chords appear time and time again on the lead sheet; you can play various inversions of the chords and add different melody notes on top to create movement in between the chords.

  • Awesome...

  • @fnub thanks for your comment. This is one of the videos that took the most time to put together and edit. I'm planning on spending a good bit of time viewing your Lenny Breau series. It is amazing to see these videos of Lenny playing up close. Thanks for posting these.
