@eventerchicc I didnt say I did western, thats why I asked what discipline gets hocks inj? I did barrel racing thru A.N.R.A. (Aus novelty racing ass). Where barrel racing was 1 of about 12 different racing events we did. Racehorses get their knee's & fetlocks inj coz all their weight is on their front legs, trotters/pacers break down alot in the hind coz thats where all the power comes from & if western horses get inj & retired by age 4yo, why isnt western getting protested against like rodeo??

@savannah431 excuse me they dig in with the spurs to stay on these horses might be wild but as monty once said a you cant own a horse u cant borrow a horse u must earn a horse but in this "broc riding" it is a crual inhumane sport. I used to ride brocs and know you have to dig ur heels to stay on i later realised after 1 yr of it that it is inhumane i have never looked back i know break horses for competitive riders and am proud to say i have never worn spurs or used a whip after my broc riding
I wrote my senior paper (had to be a contovisal topic) on Rodeo, and how its not abuse, I contacted two local stock contactors who gave me interviews each and allowed me to watch them care for their animals at rodeos. However when I tried to contact Shark, I had to constinally call, ask how they got their info and I never got an interview, even over the phone/e-mail from them because my questions they could not answer!
Whoopi! Rodeo was recognized at the Salt Lake Olympics and I could cite numerous 'world' committees that support rodeo - that's your justification? I can cite several independent studies showing that in rodeo there are less than 50 deaths/year for rodeo stock, compared to your sport of over 300/year in the UK alone? Funny, been to rodeos where your royal family was in attendance & the Queen's comments were that she truly enjoyed rodeo & the skills needed. PETA is after your sport now! Enjoy
@teamroper202 You need to directly reply to my comment in order to squeak your rodeo nonsense. To justify your fibs, give me the link to establish your statistics about eventing vs rodeo fatalities? And salt lake olympics does not equal world olympics by any standards. Yet again, you have yet to tell me why antagonising a horse with flank straps is appropriate? All for 'lol'...'cowboy' glory...
@kaeso100 Just google it idiot! I found several studies within a few minutes. Why do you use a harsh bit, spurs, quirts? Why do you have to use your reins for balance when you ride and cause your horse to have a hard mouth? Do you think what your sport does with your horse is completely natural? Absolutely not. Does that mean I think you should quit, no; but don't pass judgement on something you know NOTHING about. Why don't you read CHSRAcowgirl182's comment & learn.
@teamroper202 I googled it before, I did not find the figures and facts you mentioned, hence why I asked. I do not use my reins for balance, nor use harsh bits, so I can't answer that question. Spurs are in fact a requirement at high levels. The fact is we don't antagonise horses to perform, you do. Why don't you read the 2 highest rated comments on this vid....you might learn something....
To kaeso100: Since I don't know whether you have ever ridden a horse before I will assume you haven't. You would have the same effect if you were riding your horse and your second (double) cinch slipped back to the flank area. It is not tight, you can just pull the end of the rope and it slips off. It acts as a signal, I guess irritant for the PETA lovers, for the horse. These horses are bred to buck, they like to buck and as a result are very good at it.
@teamroper202 the flank srap is like a girth around the flank of the horse(wich is one of the most sensitive parts of the horses body) when the horse enters the shot the flank strap is tightend, the horse finds this feeling uncomfortable and theirfore tries to get it of wich resultes in bucking, rearing and the occasion flip, the horse doesnt want to buck and doesnt find pleasure in doing so: your explination is totally wrong ha!
@teamroper202 the flank srap is like a girth around the flank of the horse(wich is one of the most sensitive parts of the horses body) when the horse enters the shoot the flank strap is tightend, the horse finds this feeling uncomfortable and theirfore tries to get it of wich resultes in bucking, rearing and the occasion flip, the horse doesnt want to buck and doesnt find pleasure in doing so: your explination is totally wrong ha!
@tuckertruthbetold & kaeso100: It took me a few minutes to read your poor spelling; but I get your drift - even though it is wrong. This is how the stock contractor makes his living. These horses can be rodeo athletes for more than ten years. If this avenue was not available to them they would have been canned and in a box on their way to France/Japan within the first five years of their life. The reality is that these animals, like the cowboys that participate - all of them are athletes.
@tuckertruthbetold I have the same question to you as I asked kaeso100. What exactly is your knowledge and experience with horses? Do you ride? If so, in what discipline?
@teamroper202 Sorry, I missed your comment recently as you didn't directly reply to mine, as I did yours. If you wish to keep up your pretence of rodeo competence, reply directly to this comment. If the horses were bred to buck, then why use a flank strap? Why irritate a horse that would buck anyway with applying a flank strap? I event, we use an overgirth, if it slips back...the horse does not start bucking out of distress. What is your justification of the deliberate use of a flank strap??!
@kaeso100 The flank strap is covered in sheepskin so that there will not be any rubbing on the horse. Again, since I now know that you have nothing to do with rodeo stock or rodeo events, I will reiterate it once again. If the pickup man can grab the end of the flank strap and it pops off - it isn't overly tight. If the horse can buck and cause it to pop off it isn't overly tight. It encourages and signals to the horse to buck and kick out rather than run across the arena.
@teamroper202 The horses 'bred to buck' are tried and tested. If they buck enough, they are used for rodeo. If they don't they are sent to slaughter in many cases. The flank strap irritates the horses promoting an exaggerated response for 'show'. I previously stated I event, that's the sport and the involved disciplines already given for your information. Why use a flank strap on a horse bred/born to buck??! Oh yes, silly me....cowboy glory. Rodeo horses are too well handled to be 'wild broncs'.
@kaeso100 The difference between you and me is that I would never presume to know more about Eventing than you; but I did some quick research & was able to find some staggering statistics about your humane sport. According to your own Animal Aid and UK racing stats, they claim that a conservative number of horse deaths related to YOUR sport is well over 300 per year. Look it up yourself. Unlike you, I believe that you, as a participant, should look after your sport & I will look after mine.
@kaeso100 Try watching the YouTube video titled The downside to cross country. I can see why there is a high mortality rate and forced euthanizing of these horses - broken legs, necks, shoulders. Instead of you making an uninformed criticism of rodeo/ of me on eventing, wouldn't it be better for you to monitor YOUR sport and I mine? I might try and stop all forms of cross country, steeple chase, show jumping and dressage for unneccesary cruelty to horses because I didn't have the knowledge.
@teamroper202 Unlike rodeo, Eventing has the full support of the Olympic and World Equestrian Games committees, you spot the difference there? A rodeo horse bucks due to a flank strap, and in very unethical cases ear twitching and electric shocks. I dread to think the amount of steers, bulls and broncs that are euthanased as a direct result of rodeo injury, far outweighing eventing casualties. Event riders don't antagonise a horse to perform, that is the key difference on a humane basis.
XSpinDriftedX and BexaEquestrian4 - both of you obviously know very little about rodeo or horses. Because if you did you would then realize that the horses used in rodeo are BRED to buck. They buck because they love to buck and are very good at it. They are not abused as idiots like to believe. NO the flank strap is NOT tight. If you knew anything at all, you would know that. Bronc riders do not GOUGE with their spurs. The rowels roll! Again stupidity is spouted by those that don't know.
keaso100 the flank srap is like a girth around the flank of the horse(wich is one of the most sensitive parts of the horses body) when the horse enters the shot the flank strap is tightend, the horse finds this feeling uncomfortable and theirfore tries to get it of wich resultes in bucking, rearing and the occasion flip, the horse doesnt want to buck and doesnt find pleasure in doing so
@tuckertruthbetold Thank you for replying to my comment, I was trying to prise a logical response from 'teamroper202'. I won't hold my breath though...lol!
Bronc riding isn't beause the horse have gone mad and want the rider off its the bucking strap they tightly secure around the horses flank to cause pain and irratation... I hate that sport.
It's not often the rider's fault, except in Rodeo. Horses can trip or refuse a jump and the rider takes a tumble. I have fallen countless times but never purposefully to hurt my horse. They have all been accidents. Some have even been my horse's fault, but I still love him! =D
the ground is always harder wen u fall! i went today. biggenden show. my first D grade. in the jump off it was about 1.10m storm was goin great. then i got to a spot where i could either go inside a jump or around. storm got confused and the finish peg was in his way so he turned. unseated me and i landed on my feet, lucky i grabbed the rail of a jump - it was just the right height! so storm galloped off through all the hacks. lol. i just shook my head and went after him
They say that you can't be a true rider until you've taken seven tumbles! =D Strangely, on my seventh fall it was the day before my first show and as I was cantering along I said that to my horse and he stopped dead still and I fell off! Wierd! I wasn't hurt, and we did really well at the show! Probably just coincedence but still...
Do you ride English or Western? If English, how high do you jump? If Western, do you Barrel Race?
I love watching rodeos, I always cheer the bull and hope that the rodeo riders get trampled. It's almost the only thing that really REALLY makes me want to hurt someone badly.
Polo is definately a sport though, at least the horses WANT to play polo and they aren't forced into it.
When people talk about the horses rights they really don't understand how well these horses are taken care of and how much money it takes to feed one, not to mention stable, shoes, wormer, vet bills etc. Every relationship is give and take. And when it comes to bucking horses they are in that position because they are not fit to be ridden by average riders and pose a danger to children.
only because you think it is a stupid sport ! it is the greatest sport 4 ever
Sit on a horse, learn riding and then you can say that it is no sport!
Every human always thinks it is easy and not anstrengend (sorry for my bad english) but every one who said that and after that learned riding knows it is {anstrengend}
Like when a fly crawls across your arm. Obviously you swat it away, right? That's what the bucking strap is like. It's a sensation that causes the horse to want to react. The only way to react, is by kicking out. That is a natural horse instinct. And as far as these horses being scared? Surely, if you know horse anatomy and language, you would see otherwise. Their eyes are not rolling, their ears are not flat against their head. Their tails are not swishing to even show irritation.
First of all... great video. Your daughter has a fun mind.
Second... what is going on with the rodeo deal? Okay, for all of you animal rights activists... half of you probably eat some sort of animal, am I correct? Okay, then you have no right to complain about the discomfort a horse might be put through. Until you stop causing any type of animal discomfort, don't complain about it. Then, for those of you who are vegetarian, try to think of it this way... the bucking strap is like a sensation.
it's true. you havent ride for 10 years, if you havent fall off. me best friend, she things that if you don't fall off, then you are a good rider. that so not true! i have falled off lots of time, and i fell better after i have falled off :b
lol i love this video because its soo true!! and if you havent fallen off then you havent really experienced riding. its sounds harsh but its soo true
most horses, when ridden correctly, and treated right, they never throw you on purpose. the bronc riding "sport" is completely ridiculous, wasting horses to have their sides gouged by spurs and backs beaten by "cowboys" you are not a rider or a horse person, or anything thing but stupid if you don't treat animals with the respect they deserve. If you get thrown or fall off, 95% of the time, its the riders fault.
@XSpinDriftedX i agree with yuh!! i hate rodeos!! all it is is legal animal abuse n those who say rodeo animals r wild needs 2 do research n watch the fatalities of animals n rodeos. i hate rodeos n ppl who LIKE rodeos!! we need 2 do sumthin 2 outlaw it!! nobody thinks of wut the horse or bull or calf is feeling!! i hate cowboys n ppl who represent rodeos, all yall yella bellies can suck it!! just cuz animals cant talk, doesnt mean that they feel less pain than we do!!!
@XSpinDriftedX Although I'm NOT a fan of bronc riding either, I disagree that it's cruel. The horses are so used to it, they would buck without the strap because it's their job. Once the rider is off, they trot happily back to do it again. A horse with a job tends to be happy, even if it is bucking someone off.
do u no wat they do at rodeos??? they electrocute animals they kick + whip them senselessly, and theydont give any record of the nimals death. Rodeos suck. I rly hope they stop.
i have a question, how did we end up on talk about rodeo? this is a crash and burn vid, and second, rodeos arnt bad, i ride barrels, and watch all of the events, im not saying ALL rodeos are good, SOME are bad, but more often then not, the stock have an awsome life
i agree with Zenofmind! Rodeos suck!!!!! they abuse and torture is unnumbered. i like this video but thwe rodeo thing ruined it all. not to be mean bu the rodeo is horriable. i made an account and a video about rodeo abuse. go to rodeosRwrong and watch the video. then you will see the truth about rodeos.
my x bf worked with the bucking horses and bulls, they tie their genitalia to make them buck and dont you dare say other wise! Horses shouldnt have such poor treatment in english or western riding they protect their legs and tendans and they are taken with excellent care but it rodeo horses are used as worthless props
the bucking straps are NOT even touching the animals genitals. what rodeo is he working for?! don't even say i'm wrong cause you know damn well i'm right! i rodeo and know many people in the rodeo buisness and i'm sick of people saying how "mean" we are to the stock. news flash! the stock is treated better than the cowboys and cowgirls! many of them love their job! fyi many rodeo stock are rescued from slaughter. and go to great homes when their career is over. they are athletes not worthless!
Bronc Riding - The reason why the buckers 'buck'.
The reason why these horses buck is from the buck strap. It isn't pulled unbearingly tight at all. It is a strap, around the horses flank, which is a sensitive spot (try touching the area, your horse might try to kick you) and its pulled where is sits not loose, but not tight. Horses dislike the feeling so therefore they 'buck'. BUT. There are some unporfessional rodeos out there who decided pulling it tighter will make the horse buck 'higher'.
So tell me, how can an annoying girth be 'okay' for the bronc? the horse gets no relief, it is just continously being annoyed all through the rodeo show. Come on, that's a braindead sport for braindead people. I feel sorry for the horses.
Don't fell sorry for the broncs! I want to be reincarnated as a bronc. Their girth is not tight at all, nor is it loose. It's kept in between. The girths do have material made out of sheeps wool that tickles their belly. They are not squeezed to bucking but tickled. They do not wear the girths the whole show either. The girths are put on right before they are ridden and come off right after. Those horses only work for 8 seconds a ride and maybe 10 minutes in total for a year. What a rough life!
Broncs are not forced to buck either. When a rodeo company buys horses, they don't buy just any horse. They test them out first to see if they have a natural aptitude and disposition for bucking. If the horse likes bucking and is willing to, then it goes to the rodeo. If the horse has to be forced to buck through a lot of effort on the rider's part then the rodeo won't buy it. Most broncs enjoy what they do.
yeah but what about the spurs the dig in to there sides while they're doing it? and they're scared.. they arent letting out the joy bucks like my horse does when hes excited, these horses are being ruined and they basically have no life after this..
Whether or not spurs are worn is left up to the riders. A lot of them do not wear them because the spurs are of no use and can get caught up in rigging. The riders that do wear them do not cruelly dig them into a horses sides. They use them to merely tap the horse so the horse moves out of the chute at a faster pace so it is a more challenging ride. After the horse stops bucking the spurs are no longer used because of how the riders must position themselves to hold on.
Oh and the broncs are not scared. Most of them are happy. They take pride in bucking off any rider dumb enough to climb on their backs. Horses don't show their fear through bucking - usually they try to run away from what scares them. The reason their bucking looks different from your horses is because a professional will alway look different from an amateur. And these horses are not ruined, but retired to pasture lives where they can do whatever they want and live like royalty.
false, many have fun and enjoy their job very much. ok yes the spurs are abit much. ruined? heck no! some of them you can actually ride once you take the bucking strap off. many of them have wonderful lives ofter their career.
actually sammy, rodeo is a cruel sport that should be stopped all around the world. Most of the horses end up in slaughter. The horses buck because the people put a eletric girth on and they shock the horse and they buck until the rider falls. except for my comment i think that this video is good and i know what it is trying to say. i fall off all the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
there is no such thing as an eletric girth! and false...many of the rodeo stock are rescued from slaughter. race horses are the ones that end up in slaughter, not rodeo. LIVE ON RODEO!!!!!!!!
Some Broncs end up in slaughter - all horses do. At horse markets - you know, where they auction off horses? - anyone can buy a horse, and some people are worried about buying broncs, so unless there is a Rodeo rider there that wants it, they can end up in the meat house unfortunately ='(
@BabyJaneLuver123 I know ='( Someone I know loaned out her horse and the loaner sold it to slaughter! She snuck into the stables in the middle of the night and stole him back. She still has him now =)
Mushergal - are you saying that using a bit is a way to cause pain on purpose to the horse? That is just rubbish. A bit is not in itself uncomfortable for the horse. But obviously when you lead the reins to the right, the horse will eventually learn that the "pressure" (if you can in fact call it that) will be relieved. That's the basics of regular dressage - you lead the horse, the horse reacts, you reward the horse by relieving the pressure/lead whatever.
right, when it's used in western riding, its usually very loose to barely touching the horse. This is not abuse at all, though those using western saddles, beware, I have seen horses almost catch their back hooves in these straps because people make them too loose! :) (this occurs when horses are galloping or are at a fast canter.) It's when it comes to the "bucking broncos" that the strap is much to tight for the horse's comfort, and it makes them very irritated and upset.
Its a girth that sits around the flank. It doesn;t hurt the horse. It is not even tight. What it does is make the horse uncomfertable. That is what causes them to buck. It doesnt hurt.
I had an uncle who had an ex-rodeo horse, ( he's now an english dresssage prospect.) He said he had kindey damage due to the strap they put under it to make them buck. If that factor is true on what you said, Its still making them uncomfortable. it isnt right!
I can't say anything about your uncle's horse. Its possible that he was mistreated. That happens in every type of riding. But the uncomfort thing is a very open subject. The way a bit is used is based on the uncomfort thing. It is more uncomfortable for the horse to pull against the bit, therefore they do what we say. Broncs have more discomfort, and I am not saying that it is a good thing to do to them, I just wouldn't call it cruel or sick like purposly causing pain is.
right! It doesn't hurt the broncs and many of them end up just knowing their job and not needing much at all! And all of them love it! Just look at their eyes and ears. The best way I can describe the bucking strap for everyone else is that it's like tight fitting pants. They just bug you a lot and you're always trying to adjust them. THat's why the horse bucks.
rodeo horses are afraid for humans becuas they scare them with waps and things. if a rodeo horse ísnt afrid/angry they dont want to throw te cowboys of and if they wont, its no rodeo so human are not nice to a rodeo horse.
I hate those pictures of the rodeos. I am all for riding, but not for riding cruely. People should know the difference of falling off a bucking horse, and falling off of a forced to buck horse.
Well tbh its not exsactly the nicest thing rodeo. and corss country horses die in so i dont see how the horse is still laughing. Not trying to be horrid x

Funny, been to rodeos where your royal family was in attendance & the Queen's comments were that she truly enjoyed rodeo & the skills needed. PETA is after your sport now! Enjoy
teamroper202 1 year ago
@teamroper202 You need to directly reply to my comment in order to squeak your rodeo nonsense. To justify your fibs, give me the link to establish your statistics about eventing vs rodeo fatalities? And salt lake olympics does not equal world olympics by any standards. Yet again, you have yet to tell me why antagonising a horse with flank straps is appropriate? All for 'lol'...'cowboy' glory...
kaeso100 1 year ago
@kaeso100 Just google it idiot! I found several studies within a few minutes. Why do you use a harsh bit, spurs, quirts? Why do you have to use your reins for balance when you ride and cause your horse to have a hard mouth? Do you think what your sport does with your horse is completely natural? Absolutely not. Does that mean I think you should quit, no; but don't pass judgement on something you know NOTHING about. Why don't you read CHSRAcowgirl182's comment & learn.
teamroper202 1 year ago
@teamroper202 I googled it before, I did not find the figures and facts you mentioned, hence why I asked. I do not use my reins for balance, nor use harsh bits, so I can't answer that question. Spurs are in fact a requirement at high levels. The fact is we don't antagonise horses to perform, you do. Why don't you read the 2 highest rated comments on this vid....you might learn something....
kaeso100 1 year ago
To kaeso100: Since I don't know whether you have ever ridden a horse before I will assume you haven't. You would have the same effect if you were riding your horse and your second (double) cinch slipped back to the flank area. It is not tight, you can just pull the end of the rope and it slips off. It acts as a signal, I guess irritant for the PETA lovers, for the horse. These horses are bred to buck, they like to buck and as a result are very good at it.
teamroper202 1 year ago
@teamroper202 the flank srap is like a girth around the flank of the horse(wich is one of the most sensitive parts of the horses body) when the horse enters the shot the flank strap is tightend, the horse finds this feeling uncomfortable and theirfore tries to get it of wich resultes in bucking, rearing and the occasion flip, the horse doesnt want to buck and doesnt find pleasure in doing so: your explination is totally wrong ha!

tuckertruthbetold 1 year ago
@tuckertruthbetold & kaeso100: It took me a few minutes to read your poor spelling; but I get your drift - even though it is wrong. This is how the stock contractor makes his living. These horses can be rodeo athletes for more than ten years. If this avenue was not available to them they would have been canned and in a box on their way to France/Japan within the first five years of their life. The reality is that these animals, like the cowboys that participate - all of them are athletes.
teamroper202 1 year ago 2
@tuckertruthbetold I have the same question to you as I asked kaeso100. What exactly is your knowledge and experience with horses? Do you ride? If so, in what discipline?
teamroper202 1 year ago
@teamroper202 Sorry, I missed your comment recently as you didn't directly reply to mine, as I did yours. If you wish to keep up your pretence of rodeo competence, reply directly to this comment. If the horses were bred to buck, then why use a flank strap? Why irritate a horse that would buck anyway with applying a flank strap? I event, we use an overgirth, if it slips back...the horse does not start bucking out of distress. What is your justification of the deliberate use of a flank strap??!
kaeso100 1 year ago
@kaeso100 The flank strap is covered in sheepskin so that there will not be any rubbing on the horse. Again, since I now know that you have nothing to do with rodeo stock or rodeo events, I will reiterate it once again. If the pickup man can grab the end of the flank strap and it pops off - it isn't overly tight. If the horse can buck and cause it to pop off it isn't overly tight. It encourages and signals to the horse to buck and kick out rather than run across the arena.
teamroper202 1 year ago
@teamroper202 The horses 'bred to buck' are tried and tested. If they buck enough, they are used for rodeo. If they don't they are sent to slaughter in many cases. The flank strap irritates the horses promoting an exaggerated response for 'show'. I previously stated I event, that's the sport and the involved disciplines already given for your information. Why use a flank strap on a horse bred/born to buck??! Oh yes, silly me....cowboy glory. Rodeo horses are too well handled to be 'wild broncs'.
kaeso100 1 year ago
@kaeso100 The difference between you and me is that I would never presume to know more about Eventing than you; but I did some quick research & was able to find some staggering statistics about your humane sport. According to your own Animal Aid and UK racing stats, they claim that a conservative number of horse deaths related to YOUR sport is well over 300 per year. Look it up yourself. Unlike you, I believe that you, as a participant, should look after your sport & I will look after mine.
teamroper202 1 year ago
@kaeso100 Try watching the YouTube video titled The downside to cross country. I can see why there is a high mortality rate and forced euthanizing of these horses - broken legs, necks, shoulders. Instead of you making an uninformed criticism of rodeo/ of me on eventing, wouldn't it be better for you to monitor YOUR sport and I mine? I might try and stop all forms of cross country, steeple chase, show jumping and dressage for unneccesary cruelty to horses because I didn't have the knowledge.
teamroper202 1 year ago
@teamroper202 Unlike rodeo, Eventing has the full support of the Olympic and World Equestrian Games committees, you spot the difference there? A rodeo horse bucks due to a flank strap, and in very unethical cases ear twitching and electric shocks. I dread to think the amount of steers, bulls and broncs that are euthanased as a direct result of rodeo injury, far outweighing eventing casualties. Event riders don't antagonise a horse to perform, that is the key difference on a humane basis.
kaeso100 1 year ago
XSpinDriftedX and BexaEquestrian4 - both of you obviously know very little about rodeo or horses. Because if you did you would then realize that the horses used in rodeo are BRED to buck. They buck because they love to buck and are very good at it. They are not abused as idiots like to believe. NO the flank strap is NOT tight. If you knew anything at all, you would know that. Bronc riders do not GOUGE with their spurs. The rowels roll! Again stupidity is spouted by those that don't know.

@teamroper202 What is the flank strap for then?

Wierd! I wasn't hurt, and we did really well at the show! Probably just coincedence but still...

Their tails are not swishing to even show irritation.
untilwehavefaces 2 years ago 2
First of all... great video. Your daughter has a fun mind.
Second... what is going on with the rodeo deal? Okay, for all of you animal rights activists... half of you probably eat some sort of animal, am I correct? Okay, then you have no right to complain about the discomfort a horse might be put through. Until you stop causing any type of animal discomfort, don't complain about it. Then, for those of you who are vegetarian, try to think of it this way... the bucking strap is like a sensation.

most horses, when ridden correctly, and treated right, they never throw you on purpose. the bronc riding "sport" is completely ridiculous, wasting horses to have their sides gouged by spurs and backs beaten by "cowboys" you are not a rider or a horse person, or anything thing but stupid if you don't treat animals with the respect they deserve. If you get thrown or fall off, 95% of the time, its the riders fault.
XSpinDriftedX 3 years ago 28
I agree. I just think that ALL "bad" things that happen on a horses back are 99.9% of the time the riders fault :p
SunnyNerissa 3 years ago
@XSpinDriftedX i agree with yuh!! i hate rodeos!! all it is is legal animal abuse n those who say rodeo animals r wild needs 2 do research n watch the fatalities of animals n rodeos. i hate rodeos n ppl who LIKE rodeos!! we need 2 do sumthin 2 outlaw it!! nobody thinks of wut the horse or bull or calf is feeling!! i hate cowboys n ppl who represent rodeos, all yall yella bellies can suck it!! just cuz animals cant talk, doesnt mean that they feel less pain than we do!!!
bellajuliahorses 1 year ago
@XSpinDriftedX Although I'm NOT a fan of bronc riding either, I disagree that it's cruel. The horses are so used to it, they would buck without the strap because it's their job. Once the rider is off, they trot happily back to do it again. A horse with a job tends to be happy, even if it is bucking someone off.

Onaziz 3 years ago
Don't fell sorry for the broncs! I want to be reincarnated as a bronc. Their girth is not tight at all, nor is it loose. It's kept in between. The girths do have material made out of sheeps wool that tickles their belly. They are not squeezed to bucking but tickled. They do not wear the girths the whole show either. The girths are put on right before they are ridden and come off right after. Those horses only work for 8 seconds a ride and maybe 10 minutes in total for a year. What a rough life!
SammyJo231 3 years ago
Broncs are not forced to buck either. When a rodeo company buys horses, they don't buy just any horse. They test them out first to see if they have a natural aptitude and disposition for bucking. If the horse likes bucking and is willing to, then it goes to the rodeo. If the horse has to be forced to buck through a lot of effort on the rider's part then the rodeo won't buy it. Most broncs enjoy what they do.
SammyJo231 3 years ago
yeah but what about the spurs the dig in to there sides while they're doing it? and they're scared.. they arent letting out the joy bucks like my horse does when hes excited, these horses are being ruined and they basically have no life after this..
chelsea10322 3 years ago
chelsea10322
Whether or not spurs are worn is left up to the riders. A lot of them do not wear them because the spurs are of no use and can get caught up in rigging. The riders that do wear them do not cruelly dig them into a horses sides. They use them to merely tap the horse so the horse moves out of the chute at a faster pace so it is a more challenging ride. After the horse stops bucking the spurs are no longer used because of how the riders must position themselves to hold on.
SammyJo231 3 years ago
Oh and the broncs are not scared. Most of them are happy. They take pride in bucking off any rider dumb enough to climb on their backs. Horses don't show their fear through bucking - usually they try to run away from what scares them. The reason their bucking looks different from your horses is because a professional will alway look different from an amateur. And these horses are not ruined, but retired to pasture lives where they can do whatever they want and live like royalty.
SammyJo231 3 years ago
false, many have fun and enjoy their job very much. ok yes the spurs are abit much. ruined? heck no! some of them you can actually ride once you take the bucking strap off. many of them have wonderful lives ofter their career.
Sweep1730 3 years ago
actually sammy, rodeo is a cruel sport that should be stopped all around the world. Most of the horses end up in slaughter. The horses buck because the people put a eletric girth on and they shock the horse and they buck until the rider falls. except for my comment i think that this video is good and i know what it is trying to say. i fall off all the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
spirit01483 3 years ago
there is no such thing as an eletric girth! and false...many of the rodeo stock are rescued from slaughter. race horses are the ones that end up in slaughter, not rodeo. LIVE ON RODEO!!!!!!!!
Sweep1730 3 years ago
Some Broncs end up in slaughter - all horses do. At horse markets - you know, where they auction off horses? - anyone can buy a horse, and some people are worried about buying broncs, so unless there is a Rodeo rider there that wants it, they can end up in the meat house unfortunately ='(

Onaziz 3 years ago
I'm not quite there yet haha!(haven't fallen off yet but have bucked and tripped with horses)
QuarterHorseRider480 3 years ago
They do put straps on horses, its called a Bucking Strap, they also use them on most western horses and it doesn't hurt them.
LittleAngel152007 3 years ago 4
right, when it's used in western riding, its usually very loose to barely touching the horse. This is not abuse at all, though those using western saddles, beware, I have seen horses almost catch their back hooves in these straps because people make them too loose! :) (this occurs when horses are galloping or are at a fast canter.) It's when it comes to the "bucking broncos" that the strap is much to tight for the horse's comfort, and it makes them very irritated and upset.
chevalover06 3 years ago
They're most likely not wipped or beaten as then it would have been banned.
They have a strip of something round their underbelly which makes them buck.
Its sick and cruel.
SmarticleSophie 4 years ago
They do. They put straps under their kidneys, so they buck in pain. Its sick.
KaylaS911 3 years ago
Its a girth that sits around the flank. It doesn;t hurt the horse. It is not even tight. What it does is make the horse uncomfertable. That is what causes them to buck. It doesnt hurt.
mushergal 3 years ago
I had an uncle who had an ex-rodeo horse, ( he's now an english dresssage prospect.) He said he had kindey damage due to the strap they put under it to make them buck. If that factor is true on what you said, Its still making them uncomfortable. it isnt right!
KaylaS911 3 years ago

Rodeo horses arn't scared of people. I went to a rodeo once and walked right up to and pet a bronc.

I hate those pictures of the rodeos. I am all for riding, but not for riding cruely. People should know the difference of falling off a bucking horse, and falling off of a forced to buck horse.

rodeos arent bad. Those cowboys risk thier lives alot. They take very good care of thier animals too. Some of them don't, but most big ones do.

Ok, FYI, the "wild" horses aren't "angry". they're terrified from the straps around their flanks.
BUT, nice video! I like that you actually put some work into it, not just found pictures and made a slide show. :)
