  • Diets like this give people the wrong idea. Most detox diets aren't proven to work and any weight you lose is likely to be gained back since most of it is water weight due to the lack of carbs you're consuming(which is why people on low carb diets think it's some dumb miracle diet when they lose 10lbs in a week.) Ketosis can work but that's very long term. Anything you experience from this diet is probably placebo, Chlorella + cilantro is about the only "detox" worth doing.

  • @gtghome acetone is a by product of fasting.

  • @gtghome during fasting, the body more or less goes into ketosis which is the process by which the body uses ketone bodies when the supply of glucose has been depleted. the acetone that she tastes is actually excess ketone bodies which have been decarboxylated into acetone and is excreted to various parts of the body. that explains the reason why when a person undergoes fasting, his or her breath may smell really bad.

    that also explains the coating on her tongue.

  • @Itachi2Gaara I've just finished my third day. I thought I was going to die the night of the second day aching beyond belief in my gums and throat but now the aching is GONE! I've tried to fast before and have managed two weeks but I think I did not drink enough water. I drank only 8 glasses a day. Very bad. Now I'm drinking enough water and I feel wonderful today.

  • After looking at yours and others,I went on the ater fast. I'm on Day six. I went from 222 pounds to 204 so far. I want to go as long as I can. I actually feel the same minute pangs of hunger after getting through my worst day..Day 3 Oh I keep my walking/jogging going per day nonstop for at least 45 min. My jogging suffered the most today. I have less energy!

  • @aliendeception Right on! I've been pretty much off soda for about a year now with little relapses every now and again. Just had soda a little bit ago, in fact. Gave me a terrible stomachache for about an hour, and the carbonation in it was overwhelming. It gets really easy after a while to avoid it. I'll be cheering you on if you do/did decide to go through with that :D

  • @crystalAura when you're eating ACTUAL FOOD AND ACTUAL CALORIES you're not suppose to eat less than 1200 cal a day...so eating ONE meal a day will not do a person any good...yeah they'll lose weight but they're not getting enough daily calories for energy and without energy how can you burn fat your body will just store the fat ..your body will go into starvation mode thats why water fasting is better cus its 0 calories and ifs safe to do for up to 40 days no food JUST WATER.

  • Ten days. Well when I did without food for ten days, I nearly fainted many times. But I know what you mean about not feeling hungry. I did however suffer from the acid in my belly and I needed to dring lots of water to dilute it. I also felt very weak and had pains in my muscles especially those between my shoulders and neck (I think they are called deltoids). I was told that my body was literally eating itself in order to get nutrition. I broke the fast with solid food - a painful mistake.

  • Thanks for sharing your experience, wlwak. I might have had those experiences as well, except that for weeks before this I had been eating nothing but fruits and leafy greens, and some raw peanuts. I'm sure it helped.

  • Well Done! I understand how you feel after fasting... you dont want to eat and people ask me how can you survive on one meal a day? And its like "How can I eat three meals a day??!!" Its so much, too much for the body. Even now I am ready to fast again! I love how I feel.

  • Im going to be on my last day of water fasting tomorrow which will be my 11th day. How do I break the fast? Im very scared about this part because ive heard of people overeating after extended fasts and becoming very ill.

  • Dear metalxx7,

    hmm having some oranges will give your digestive system a reason to go to the bathroom/washroom. It is less pleasant to eat after many days of fasting... let this be as gentle as possible, let the focus be on rehydrating first, with fruits- mostly nonsweet, if it's easier on you (i.e. cucumbers, lemon juice, cherry tomatoes, strawberries, melons, etc.).

  • Continue this for as long as you wish <3

    Slowly add more sweet fruits as you appreciate them, things like mangoes, grapes, and bananas, dates and figs.

    You could start adding fresh greens after a couple weeks of this. After being on this, you may prefer it to eating unhealthily, which if you did, would present rashes and a coated tongue. The body is much more sensitive now and will respond more immediately in eliminating or surfacing these ingested substances rather than store as mucous.

  • Wow, you seem so centered when you fast.. or are you that way all the time and fasting just brings you back to center when you stray? Either way you seem calm and I'm wondering if you're going to fast again. Do you only do 10 days or have you ever gone beyond that? Funny but saying "10 days" is so fast and simple but living thru 10 days of fasting goes by slow.

  • Yes, it does. I am so impressed with your extended fasts!

    When on this fast, and when eating fruits before this, I was coming more in touch with this centeredness and watching my impulses and mindless habits, questioning the necessity of them. I definitely felt more of a stillness over this fast, and it was a beautiful place to be in, spiritually.

    I would like to experience a longer fast someday, when I am ready for it.

  • Yes, fasting or even eating just fruit will bring about a headache for a full day or even a little more than that... just keep drinking water and eating fruit, so it's not too bad, and it will go away soon. Then if you keep up with the lifestyle of not eating sludge foods, you will not experience headaches at all anymore.

  • Hi Elise! Yes, this is how water fasting works. You rest a lot and drink a lot of water daily until you decide you're ready to eat (and this would be simple, easy to digest foods- fresh fruits or some have steamed veg). It gives your digestive system a rest, and it gives it a chance to flush out. Your skin clears, and you resensitize your taste buds, and most of all, you release mucous. Your body becomes sensitive to chemicals afterwards. I have had interesting experiences with that.

  • One night I had soup with caramel coloring added, and this was after a fast and fruit cleanse, and the next morning I had brown markings on my hands that looked like I had drawn on it with a brown marker. The caramel coloring had surface to my extremities- the hands.

  • I was amazed that another lady had just completed her 20 day fast, followed by another lady who did her 10 day fast. As they blogged about their days, I became inspired by their strength and resolve. I then knew I could do it too! I, too, had done 5 day fasts before this.

    Eating fruits and veg for weeks beforehand helps you get used to a lighter state and to lighter nutrition (from a food source closer to the sun~*). This prior way of eating makes the fast less difficult.

  • lol. you're a bit funny--so you seem. anyway, any tips for coming of a water fast? i don't want to eat something that'll put me in the ER ... obviously, a first huge meal is out of the question.

  • Yes, start with lemon juice squeezed over thinly sliced cucumbers, it's super refreshing! You're getting electrolytes as well. Work your way up to sweet fruits slowly- uh, they're not going to be pleasant for a while. Strawberries (any berry) and honey dews (any melon) are awesome. Pineapples- good ones- are great after a fast too. Do this for as long as you enjoy... if you want other foods, go ahead, but the mucous/debris that clogs will return just as it left.

  • I had not weighed myself, but I estimated that it was around 124. No, even though I reluctantly returned to eating, I rehydrated mainly with cucumbers or watery squash (thinly sliced) lemon juice and oranges or tangerines, and melons. I wrote a response somewhere among these comments. I'll find it and copy and paste it.

  • Well, not that much indeed, but she is really brave and independent. Fasting is known since ancient Egypt. If you wish further information, try reading Rational Fasting by A. Ehret or the books by H. Shelton, they are really mind-opening IMO.

    If you fail to follow good living habit, you will lose your health in just a few months regardless of earlier fasting practices.

    I'm actually dry fasting right now during daylight hours, and breaking it each evening with fruits. It's been a good experience for me, as I truly enjoy what I have in the evenings.

  • I know that you addressed this in some older comments, but I started a water fast a few days ago (I'm on the infamous day 3) , but I started with a sludge diet before going cold turkey into a water fast.

    The headache on day 1 was killer, and while the hunger is still intense, I'm doing pretty okay. I wish I could have done all fruit for a few weeks leading up to this because since I've been fasting, all I crave is fruit.

    Good job on your fast, maybe someday you'll do an extended one!

  • Hello :)

    What will happen on a fast is you will heed the needs of your body. There is no waiting area. You will feel everything it needs. Some people (already cleansed) seem to function almost normally on a water fast. If it is rough on the body you will know it.

    I did exercise for the first week. Just squats, boxer abs (circular sit-ups) and non-intensive workouts.

    It might be dangerous to run every day. The body takes it easy so that a lot of work can be done within.

  • Eating nothing but fruit for weeks, doing salt water flushes (too rough, I don't recommend them) and alternating with having grapefruit and lemon juices for three days, and keeping up with exercises. I read literature on fasting and clarified my purpose for fasting. I stayed on it for 10 days though I felt I ended it prematurely.

  • I did. When I stayed on fruit for a while after, I gained 2 lbs. It was steady. I felt clean.

    However, salts starches and other complex substances make me gain a stuffy kind of weight.

    My goal is to stay on fruit.

  • I'm glad for the experience. The body cleans out. My skin had never been better. My teeth whitened and became stronger.

  • It's not about losing weight, it's more about reconnecting with everything that went into evolving, creating and building your body. If you're a body builder you might really enjoy it. Try it for 3 days and see if you like it, then go for 5, then 10.

    As for the heart-failure, the body is built to handle periods of extended hunger. Part of the water I drink is plain carbonated water, because the minerals seem to keep my stomach from turning.

  • Hi Eri586, yes it is normal to weaken during a water fast. When you've gone through the roughest phases on detox on a water fast, you start to feel good afterwards. The coating on the tongue thins/goes away. Fasting is smoother if significant cleansing has been done prior to it, such as by eating fresh fruits and greens for a few weeks beforehand. Either way, you will weaken, and old waste matter and debris will make its way out.

  • Hi Crystal. Ive been fasting for 3 days and I woke up with a strange coating on my tounge like that tounge coating you mentioned in your video. what is that and does it have to do with the fast?

  • It is a mucous coating. Mucous acts as a barrier to absorbing harmful substances, but they are also caused to form by waste debris of foods eaten. Arnold Ehret writes of it. Continuing on a fast allows the body to detox and out comes the mucous. The ears declog, heaps of mucous leaves via the urinary system, mouth, nose, etc. My nose actually shrunk after the fast, the bottom part of it did. I realized what it was like to truly breathe through the skin, to have a clear nose.

  • Another comment i wanted to make, from my own experiences, is that you could expect to burn about .4-.6 pounds of stored body fat per day (+ any extra from moderate or light-modrt. exercise. Much of the weight lost is water and will return. A fasting body eliminates sodium and the sodium was causing normal levels of water (and sometimes above normal levels) to be retained. A return to eating will mean a return of sodium, which in turn means a return of water retention, normal and otherwise.

  • an IP (Internet Protocol) is like your "internet address." Every person has an Internet Service Provider, and they assign you an IP address (there are two types). If you're on a router, it's a different story. But I would assume most people just directly connect to their modem, and let it rip.

  • But yeah, none of us would see each other's IP instantly. You need to "break the rules" and use a tool to "trace IPs." Once you get the IP of a target, you may try and send a virus, etc etc. But if the target's comp is well protected (firewall, etc etc) then there's no way to breach, unless you work hard. But, if you're caught doing all this, you can get into BIG BIG trouble by the authority.

    And believe me, I had friends who were IP traced for their controversial topics.

    I dunno what kind of mood I was in the day I said all this, but I had friends who were victims of being IP traced and whatnot. Kind of annoyed how censorship was trying to come out of the blue.

    Anyhow, nothing to worry about. If people do such illegal things, just report it to youtube staff or authority. Perpertrators would be in BIG trouble.
