You have to listen to Joe on the first Clapton Crossroads Guitar festival to really see how good Joe is. To me he's one of the most under rated axe men going!!
Forty years ago on a school night...."blotter" acid at the old Pittsburgh Civic Arena.....youthful indiscretion, good rockin'......what a fuggin' night !
Where , oh where are the new kids who can play like this ? Or am I relegated to an endless trail of tribute bands for the rest of my life ? Tell your asshole son to drop the goddamn X- box controller, pick up a guitar, listen to this song, and go make some rock and roll music !
Fun Fact: Joe is responsible for giving both Pete Townshend and Jimmy Page guitars that literally changed their lives. He gave Pete an orange Gretsch which Pete used on Who's Next and more specifically Won't Get Fooled Again. And he gave Jimmy Page that famous sunburst Les Paul. I thought I read somewhere Joe also gave Jeff Beck a guitar Jeff used extensively but I can't remember.
hoping you're a woman... LOL! If not, then dance on my friend... 3-man bands and the amount of sound they can make... Joe and his gang are great! Every song has a classic 4-4 rock beat. Love the bass. Lamar
I saw these guys for the first time on American Bandstand. Don' remember the year. Fell in love with the song and right away looked for their music. Good songs. Good times too. Thanks.
Well glad you did tomtrenton. James Gang Rides Again made realize how I love this kind of rock and they were introduced on the first FM radio station in my area. The Bomber, Funk 49, Woman, the whole album or 8 track back then. Still love it. Thanks for posting.
GOOD OL' JOE WALSH THIS IS HOW HE GOT STARTED WITH THE JAMES GANG, THEY WERE BAD ASS!!!! Then he went to the Eagles and played with them before he struck it out on his on with his FAMOUS ALBUM "THE SMOKER YOU DRINK THE PLAYER YOU GET!"
@Mensgift You got it backwards dude. He went to the Eagles after that album and maybe a couple of others I will have to check on how many but the Eagles gig was later than the "Smoker" album.
Interesting note: Jimmy Fox has the foremost license plate collection in the world. Type James K Fox license plates into google to see. He used to live around the corner from me on Page Drive in Concord, Ohio.
it was no bullshit they were too do a gig that night we happen to be by the airport when they pulled up next us around 73 in pdx
me and my friends were around the airport not to see them but just fucking arouund and my friend happend be toking on a reefer with the window down in a 72 chrysler town and country which my dad owned we had the clear the car of smell before we got home those were the fun days
i remember having this 8 track...ouch!!!...my chick magnet vehicle then was a 65 chevy pick up truck...oh...yeah!!!...i had plenty of them groovy chicks...yeah...rite!!!..NOT!!!...my friends w/ the gto's n chargers n chevelles...those guyz got all the " can have a ride "...girls!!!...i think gas was 25 or 27 cents a gallon...we didnt care if our cars were smart...lol!!!...another 8 track i had in the truck all the time was from grand funk railroad!!!...
8 Track in my ole 4 door '56 Chevy Bellaire, with chrome reverse wheels, Sheepskin seat covers, and a huge back seat. No, they don't make cars like that anymore. You can take your girl cruisin' over to the Scottis for a burger, fries and a coke and buy gas for about ten bucks. and get some smokes with the change. That was when the world had Real Rock N Roll.
Woman! I've been hearin' 'bout the things you say Woman, yeah I don't want you talkin' that way Wanna take you home, give you some money Every time I try, you think that it's funny Woman, yeah I don't want you talkin' that way Don't want to break you I just want to make it, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, hey
Woman Oh, how about you and me? Woman Think about what it could be Wanna take you home, do things to you Every time I try, you just think that I'm foolin' Woman, woah How about you and me? Don't wanna break you I just want to make you, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Woman, yeah, yeah, yeah I don't want you to act so bad I don't wanna break you I just wanna make it, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Ah, ah, ah, ah woman Why do you, why do you act that way? Woman, yeah, yeah, yeah You know what? Ah, good God! Ya know what? Aw, get it on!
@xXBlinDXx12 joe walsh didn't learn how to play the guitar until he was in college. i think your teacher is lying to you. he played bass in high school, but like i said, he didn't pick up a guitar until college.
@daviddet really? im bummed if hes lying to me. but i kno that hes got connections with eddie van halen. like theres picks that he showed me tht show eddie's initials on them. but ill have to ask him again.
Joe Walsh Is the 1st Hippie ever. Wow! A total blast from my "head' days.... Black lights, posters, poster paints, cheap weed, LSD, etc... I saw these guys when I was 13 or 14 at the Portland, Ore. Paramount Theater. Hardly any showed up for the concert, so they had us fill the orchestra pit so they could get "up close and personal" with us... They kicked ass big time and partook in some of the good herb floating around... Thanks for posting this. One of my all time favs from those days. PEACE to all
