  • I was deliberating between this guitar (in Maple Green) or a PRS Paul Allender (for more than twice the price...!!). Your video has helped me decide that this may be the one considering what you get for the buck...and it doesn't go out of tune like what people have said about the Allender...Thank you for a nice demo. Cheers.

  • @blazes8n many thanks, and I hope you have fun with your new guitar!

  • why dont they make em left handed... every guitar i want ,no one bloody does them left handed

  • Is it heavy all light on the shoulders?

  • @mapexdad lighter than our V100 (LP Style) but heavier than our V6/VS6 models (ST/SG Style)

  • im having trouble with the whammy bar, i mean how do i insert it? i put it in and its totally loose and doesnt keep a position, you said "push-pull" what does that mean, forgive me im probably just having a senior moment.

  • @AppleFaction Hi - this is a common query. Lay the guitar on a flat surface and put the arm in - push down so the vibrato lifts up, and if you look underneath at the back you should see a small grub screw. Tighten this with a hex or allen key and that will provide tension to keep the on the arm in place.

  • @vintageshred71 ahhhh, thanks problem sorted now, though i dont use the bar that much but its nice to have the option at least!

  • @vintageshred71 also, this is not relevant to guitars but, you know where it lets you pause the video? click on the "cc" button and then click transcribe audio, it activates subtitles, its pretty hilarious what it thinks your saying!

  • @AppleFaction I had that problem too with my strat, felt like a right twit in the end haha

  • i mite be geting this guitar but i am afraid it wont be as good for hendrix stuff cos it dosent have single coils can you tell me if its ok for that sorta thing?

  • @mrmegaguitarplayer If you want nail the Hendrix sound, then you need single coils, but don't forget that Jimi also used humbucker laden guitars too - SG's and V's

  • this guy is good he makes the guitar look awesum

  • @EmoGuitarSceneKidxP cheers dude :-) \m/

  • @SirEpik it very easily could be better than it

  • Hey Gav! Ben here! i think im gonna get me 1 of these bad boys! nice hair btw! =]

  • Hi,

I'm into buying a new guitar and i've found the PRS SE custom 22 for about €560,-

Is this guitar better than it?

  • @SirEpik I can't answer objectively of course, but the VRS100 is one of my favourite guitars.

  • Comment removed

  • hi Gav!

I know that Wilkinson is recognized for the quality tremolos. Can you tell me if the VRS100 tremolo is any good (are there any better ones by wilkinson?) This one on the VRS100 is fixed with 2 posts or 6 springs? Thanks in advance, cheers!

  • @TheRyuxuyr This is a great vibrato system. The Wilkinson WVP has a six screw system.

  • Legend, i seen you live at a guitar show a few years back:D im debating getting this guitar as well soo all good :D

  • they don't actually all have push pull trem arms i have a vintage metal axxe and that has a screw in because its floyd rose

  • @guitardude671 must be an older version of the Metal Axxe, because the new models have push ins.

  • @vintageshred71 oh cool

  • Are the frets on this guitar jumbo-sized?

  • @iMarduk not on this model no they are medium.

  • Hello friends guitarists. I'm interested in buying that guitar. I'm used to change the pickups on all my guitars. Here I have a Gibson 57 Classic Plus to put in it, but I don't know which other pickup to choose. Would anyone have tried some pickups replacement on that model ? Thx.

  • i cant decide what guitar to buy !!! which is the best ??? Vintage VRS100 or Vintage V100 !?!?!?!

  • @MilosLP4EVER ive had a vrs100 for about a year and it is the sex

  • @MilosLP4EVER I like em both but I agree with ryat75 below - still use the VRS100 as my main gigging guitar.

  • Hello Gav. Thanks and congratulations for your demos and music. Nice solid guitars ! I have a VS6 that I cherish. I would be interested in getting a VRS100 (white to be more precise). Would you know the radius and scale length (it's likely 24''75 but the PRS is 25'', so I prefer asking) of that model ? Thanks again.

  • @PincezMoiJeReve sorry for delay in replying - it's 24.75" and its a slim C profile. Thank you for your kind comments \m/

  • ok i want a VRS100 NECK on a strat guitar. but you cant get the necks induvidualy as there not bolt on. what do i do would the VINTAGE company custom build me a vrs100 nech bolt on if i gave em the money. i need that neck on a strat becuase i play 10 times better with that neck than any other guitar. iv looked into gettin a vrs100 with strat pick-ups but thats not possible. any help?

  • @stephen102 Find a professional luthier and ask them if it would be possible to fill in the pickup routs on the VRS100, re-rout for and install Strat pickups and, if you have enough money, re-finish the body to cover over the wood used to plug the original routs. Make sure to ask what they would charge too, because it won't be cheap. If you're really lucky, it will be within budget enough that you can afford some nice pickups to go in.

    Hope this helps.

  • I want your job.

I have to say, Vintage surprises me. I bought an Epiphone Les Paul, and I love it, but I've seen some of the V100s for the same price.. and I mean.. wow. Unbelievable.. I think I'll get a VRS100 next.

  • hey I have a problem with the G string on my VRS100. Whenever i use the trem-bar, even if its only slightly, the string is pitched a little higher afterwards. And then when i bend the string with my finger it returns to its original tunig. Do you have an idea what could be wrong? The nut maybe?

  • Sounds like an issue with the nut to me, if a string bend returns it to normal tone then there's a good chance the string is catching on the nut. I would file the nut down a touch on the G string or take it to a professional and let them have a look at it for you.

  • thats what i said to the guy at the store where i bought it, he showed me how to file it and i did but it got even worse. I guess they are gonna have to do the job

  • I always let the professionals do jobs like that, the only other thing I can think of that would cause that is where the string locks into the vibrato it might not be locked in properly and as you use the trem it pushes it out a bit and when you bend the string it pops back in again. Hard to say without seeing it though.

  • The bridge definitely. If you don't need the trem just block it off and you're fine

  • is this guitar good for van halen style playing?

  • If there is one in your area, go out, try it, play van halen stuff on it, like it? If no try others, if yes, ask for a price tag, buy it, like it, play it. :P

  • lol good advice thanks

  • I got a V100 over this one this summer, great guitar, I'm pretty sure I'll use it for long years to come... Next guitar is definitely gonna be a Vintage. Had Only one slight problem, jack input was not properly fitted in, but was really easy to fix. Really suprised with the sound and playability! Get them when they're still available for great prices, they could be 4 times more and still be worth it! Solid guitars, favor them over a gibson or prs anyday.

  • Hey Gav, i bought a new Vintage V99. I think its a great guitar but under the scratch plate the finish has been compromised. The pickguard has been put on too tight and has left an imprint in the wood and a screw under the scratchplate has made a thread into the paint. I am really disappointed about this because i wanted to take it off so you can see the beautiful finish. Do you have any ideas what i could do? I bought the guitar a week ago.

  • Hmm tricky. You could take it back to the dealer you got it from, but they might argue that the guitar is sold with the scratchplate fitted as standard and is therefore fit for purpose.

  • im thinkin of buying this guitar its good?

  • I cant decide weather to get this or a Ibanez GRG270B. I have not played this guitar yet but can you tell me if the neck is anywhere near as thin as the wizard neck on the RG or is it more like a strat neck?

  • I can't comment on the GRG, as I have never played one - this is a C profile neck, but thinner than a ST I would say

  • Okay thanks, Btw ur playing is awesome. ive watched a lot of ur vids. Ill be going to the vintage guitar show thingy in liverpool, will you be playing there?

  • Thanks dude! Yes I am at Liverpool in November, come and say hello :-)

  • i really want this guitar but my guitar shop doesnt stock it... its everything i want should i just think screw it and buy it online?

  • Oh by the way. If anyone knows where I can get a tobacco sunburst one of these then please message me!

  • I don't think they come in sunburst.

  • @09phillt

They used to. I've stopped looking for one now. I've decided to just stick with my blue one.

  • i own this guitar :)

  • When did you buy your guitar? And what is your opinion about it?

I'm very tempted to buy one of these, but I have some doubts about today's quality control on these guitars. Do you think they are still alright?

    Thank you

  • amazing guitar im getting it. GOOD VID. ; )

  • Quote from E-mail from JHS:

"If a model is repeatedly asked for then it becomes more viable."

Everyone E-mail and ask for a new series of VRS's!! :D

  • Hey, how does the VRS compares to Geoff's signature? witch one do you recommend? btw, the neck feel is close to what? strat? thiner than a strat?

I'm interested in buying one but i can't chose between those two

  • Hmm, two different beasts really. The neck on the VRS is thinner IMO, and it's more of a straight ahead rock guitar, whereas the Geoff model is more versatile, tone-wise.

  • hi,i'm draming about this guitar :) i think it's very. One question - can you play grunge/metal stuff with it? I have a strat, but it's hard to play heavy tunes with it.

  • Hi - yes you can use this guitar for metal and grunge, although I'd be tempted to go for the fixed bridge version if you are going to play a lot of grunge as it would be easier for drop tunings.

  • wow i gotta get me one of those

  • Does this guitar have a Coil tap?

  • Not on this one I'm afraid, although some of the early versions did have a push pull fitted to the tone.

  • hello,

is this the Maple green colour, just when i look at them on the internet none of the other green ones have that white outline around the edge of the guitar,

    please reply,

    ~Sam

  • Hi Sam - no, this is the Gloss Black version - the the trans green version doesn't have any binding.

  • hello again,

ahh must be some lighting? just the head looks to have a hint of green to it,

thanks for the really quick reply, appriciated

    ~Sam

  • if you like a floppy one... >_>....HAHA

  • I'm also interested is tone on overdrive and distortion versatile enough(I simply love smooth distortion :))?

  • i love the way it's named VRS... :)

  • I just bought one of these in white cant wait!

  • your badass player ;),

would you recommend this for second electric guitar?

i see vibrato arm is great and there are 24 frets, but i prefer non finished necks,is that neck easy to play even if it has finish

  • Cheers - yes it's a great guitar and the neck is easy to play.

  • Can you bottle up your skills like an alcho pop & sell me a crate ... Nice Demo..

    Ken..

  • Lol cheers dude - let me know how you get on with the intonation.

  • Hi Vint,

Had to remove spring from LOW "E" saddle to get intonation right , D & A saddle nearly there but will have to cut those as well.. will make up / find shorter springs to fit.

    Cheers ken..

  • Next question, not gonna ask too many more lol

Floating or down to the wood for trem unit on this guitar.. tuning drifting at the moment & not able to get fully correct intonation as yet.. Low "E" block fully back & intonation still out especially after using trem.

    Cheers Ken

  • I normally have my floating for about a tone of raised pitch. It should be possible to set up with no intonation problems. I would change the strings if you haven't already.

  • Hi Everyone,

Just took delivery of my vrs100 today , so still getting to grips with it, uptill now very impressive just needs setup to my preference.

One question the afore mentioned grub screw that stops your arm from being "FLOPPY" is missing from my trem unit , any one throw any light on this , or has the design now been changed so that it's no longer fitted anymore. shame because mine is so loose it flops & it's not ideal ....

    CHeers everyone...

  • Hi dude - you checked under the vibrato? You need to insert the arm and push down hard to check underneath, and it should be a small allen (hex) key grub screw in there.

  • Nice 1 ,

    Finally found the grub screw..

I should have worn my spec's.. LOL.

  • I recently bought a VRS 100C and I am stunned by the quality - what you say about the vibrato is absolutely true, it stays in tune REALLY well. Apart of that it just looks awesome!

    Rock on!

  • I have one of these and I'm having a big problem with it going out of tune when I use the trem. Also the strings are very high at the nut.

I'm glad Trevor is on you side because he ain't on mine.

  • Hi dude sorry to hear your having problems with the vibrato.

Have you taken it back to the store where you purchased it, or to a competent luthier, who would be able to asses the problem, and rectify the high nut?

A common reason for a trem loaded guitar going out of tune is the string tension not being balanced properly against the vibrato.

  • They stopped doing through blue and the tabbaco sunburst ones :'( (my fave colours)! I think they should bring out a new one, an advance series one orrr maybe even a Gav Coulson model!!

  • LOL, I keep asking Trev to make an Advance series version of this one....yeah I like the through blue too, but I guess economically it wasn't viable, most people were going for black or green.

  • Does this guitar have a thick neck?

  • Hi, and thanks for watching. No, it's pretty slim imo.

  • Do you have any detailed spec on this? Thickness at 1st and 12th fret, radius and back profile etc...?

  • Comment removed

  • Hi dude, thanks for watching. Only the pre-Wilkinson models were coil-tapped I'm afraid - the VRS100 is full humbuckers. The main difference is the flame maple veneer on the thru blue and green, and that's it.

  • ok thank you for your help. i still want one, i use and like humbuckers more anyway. the coil tap would just be a bonus.

  • hi im thinking of getting one of these guitars. the fact it stays in tune so well is quite amazing. ive read reviews which all seem to say that the pickups are coil tapped, but they're all reviews for the blue ones. is there a difference? i want the black one like this.

  • damn this guitar looks fantastic ! i just went thro jhs site and i see most of you'r video you really awesome reviewer! ,which guitar do you think has alot more rich tones VRS100 or AV2HNF :)

i need to upgrade to one of these because recently i'm not happy with my strat :(

  • Hey, many thanks for your kind comments. Tough question, both are great guitars. The AV2 is probably a bit more versatile, but personally I love the VRS100 :-)

  • Hey :)

Nice playing. I was thinking about getting either the VRS or the V100, what do you think? For rock (a la Pearl Jam or Puddle of mudd) ?

    Thx :)

  • Thanks for watching, and your kind comments. Either guitar would be great, although I'd recommend the fixed bridge VRS100 for down tuning.

  • Thanks alot man :)

  • what size nut has this guitar got ? waannna get 1

  • Hi dude. It's approx 43mm

  • once you get it set up properly it's one of the best guitars to play. everyone get one.

  • Do you recommend that guitar? I'm getting Vintage guitar because evryone seem love them! I was thinking about SG or LP style when I noticed this one! What do you recommend?

  • Well it's a personal thing I guess. I prefer this model over the VS6 or V100 models because it has an excellent vibrato system and a 24 fret fingerboard. Also the pickups are a slightly higher output.

  • does the thru blue version have binding round its body and neck?

  • Hi dude. No, only the the VRS100c (black) has the the binding.

  • I've got one of these in transparent blue and it's a lovely guitar once it's set up (it came with possibly the worst set of strings I've ever seen). The Wilkinson pickups are very good, but I fitted mine with a BKP Geoff Whitehorn Crawler in the bridge possition and now it's awesome. I compared it with a well known American £2000 instrument with a similar sounding name and it plays better! The combination of the Crawler and the Wilkinson neck pickup together give a lovely Peter Green sound too.

  • how funny is it that geoff whitehorn has his own signature Vintage now?

  • I used to have one of these in the cherry sunburst, I really miss it :(

  • i think i´m gonna buy the VRS100 in green

can i use it for Drop A?

  • I wouldn't really recommend this guitar for someone who plays in Drop A..

Get an Ibanez, ESP or a BC Rich.

  • thanks

is there the VRS 110 with fixed bridge just in black? i like the green one but this model is just a VRS 100

  • Hi dude, yeah the VRS110C is a fixed bridge version in gloss black. That's the only colour the fixed bridge version is available in atm, but you may be able to find one of the old fixed bridge versions in matt tobacco sunburst second-hand.

  • But I should add that the old versions don't have the Wilkinson hardware or pickups, as they predate Trev's involvement with Vintage.

  • Ive seen some sunburst VRS's (with and without trems) with wilkinson hardware-brand new too.

  • 100 tremolo, 110 fixed bridge

  • what´s the difference between the VRS100 and the VRS110???

  • Hi

I'm just planning to buy one of these beauties in transparent green, but I don't know anything 'bout the neck (C or D shape, hopefully wide thin and not wide fat)and about the weight! Can You please reply on these questions? Other thing I have noticed, that I am unable to find any site, where close-up photos of the details are posted-can You recommend a site, or just post pictures?

    Best regards, keep on rockin'!

  • Man you played the Hell out of the guitars in your demo vids.

    Great skills. cheers

  • Cheers dude :-)

  • is this wort to buying or should i buy prs se version??

  • Hmm - I'm not going to diss anyones products - If you want a guitar that is chock loaded with features like Trev Wilkinson designed pickups, vibrato, locking machine heads etc then go out and try one of these - but if you want a guitar that has PRS somewhere on the headstock then by all means buy the SE.

  • ...that sound came out of that little amp???

XD and I was looking at the bigger amp all along aswell.

  • Hi mate, hate to be a pain in the arse but I am really interested in this guitar, could you play a little more mellow stuff, some GnR or Floyd type stuff maybe?

    Ta.

  • Hi isayney, I'll try and do something for you soon, but it will probably be on one of the Fret-King® guitars. However, I can heartily recommend the VRS100 for GnR stuff, and as you can see it has bags of sustain, even through a 10 watt practice amp.

  • i see if i want my vrs 100 cherry sunburst to sound that good i just get someone else to play it...

  • If vintage made these before their string of copy guitars they would be even more popular

  • Schweet!

  • holy shit

  • Mate! You Rock!!!
