well we're unbalanced by nature so i guess we're all dumb-asses! ;) hehe... seriously, i do agree about doing our best to find balance.

we've seen our share of "sponge bob" and it is a little freaky. but it doesn't seem "damaging". i'm not sure what they are talking about in this study. ?

ken and i grew up on bugs bunny. when we showed our kiddo some bugs cartoons at about age 4, they would make her act out in her playtime more aggressively. so we shelved those for a little later.

Well I'm sure glad you didn't mention Howdy Doody,but then again there is no comparison.Same way with todays cartoons,I grew up on Bugs Bunny,Road Runner,Fog Horn Leg Horn,Tom & Jerry and I turned out brilliantly.J Edgar Hoover was a fan of Bugs Bunny thats why no FBI raids on Mel Blancs house.Sponge Bob is just sick,you can't even pretend he is real.Death to Sponge Bob !!

@AmericanPowerBase That study is also rather flawed, since Spongebob, being rated TV-Y7, isn't for the preschool-age children that were involved in that study, where as Caillou, being rated TV-Y, is specifically designed for children that young.

cartoons aren't like how they use to be... cartoons could disappear for all we care. back then cartoons is what kids look up to, superman, batman, he-man, gi joe, power rangers etc etc.. look at the cartoons now, the kids are now gonna look up to sponge bob? iCarly? flapjack? adventure time, regular show?? see where im going with this...

cartoons i feel are just a tool for parents to not have to worry about their kids and just relax.. its easy, flip tv on, kids taken care of. its not good but thats just how it is in most famlies.

Not gonna lie, when I have kids, TV will probably be out of good TV shows that have good lessons. That's why I'm collecting DVDs of the good shit lol, I want to give my kid a push ahead of others but then I want them to be able to experience certain other lessons first hand (the ones that are taught best FH).

As for Spongebob...uh, never liked it even as a kid lol. It didn't appeal to me very much, I was more of an Japanese anime type of child.

Spongebob Squarepants is actually a good cartoon to me. Nothing wrong with it in my opinion. It's one of my sons favorite cartoons. He loves it. Good video.
