  • One word CREATIVITY. Our granparents are more creative when it comes making cartoons then compared to the crap we see today. They take the battle of the bands a new level.

  • What is the song that the Isle of Jazz plays during the war?

  • Love the Double Bass Preacher ^^

  • Oh, I love this one, its one of my favorites. ^___^

  • lil horny?

  • In all the excitement, Disney seemed to have omitted a screen credit for the composer of this amazing masterpiece. It is one of the wittiest, most effective and well-executed scores ever committed to the screen. Leigh Harline did a lot of music for Disney - is this his work? If so, he deserves our attention, respect and reconsideration. Shame on Walt for not mentioning this outstanding musician in the credits for a cartoon called "Music Land"!

  • Does anyone knows the Jazz song?

  • so cute like romeo and juliet awww.....

  • The tune that the sax composes in prison is the famous "Prisoner's Song" made famous by Vernon Dalhart about a decade earlier.

  • Anyone else notice that the King of the Isle of Jazz looks quite a bit like the real-life "King of Jazz" Paul Whiteman?

  • The queen's pipe "artillery" cannons are alot better then the Jazz cannons, Ride of the valkyries ftw XD

  • symphonic army as a cool song and cool weapon

  • symphonic army as a cool song

  • Thumbs up if you think this would be an interesting premise for a Pixar film.

  • Disney promotes gay marriage.Oho..

  • @Daesification and??? is that a problem??

  • @Daesification

meh? gay marriage? but they all married their opposite genders o___o

  • now I noticed something funny....the musical notes from the king's army are the USA's flag's while the Queen's looks like Germany's, is thsi m imagination O_o?

  • @MrKlausbaudelaire maybe but i think its to do with there styles of music, black notes strike you to be classical whereas blue and red are more upbeat and jazzy

  • @PimpMyBanana

but they are not only black, bu a darkish red, and remember that Disney was sided with the americans (obviously, they ARE americans xD) during the second world war :) and they are praticly the champions in subliminal messages xD (but in this case the message is weaker since the classical land is not the villain)

  • @PimpMyBanana

and btw, notice how symphony land is shaped like that Sol simbol in the beggining of a partiture while the jazz land is shaped like a sax ^^

  • @MrKlausbaudelaire It's called a "Trebel Cleff" Sign. (pardon my spelling if it's wrong)

  • @MrKlausbaudelaire Which is funny considering Classical music comes from Germany and Jazz comes from America.

  • @TheGerman6th

well, more precisely from whole europe, rather than just germany

  • @MrKlausbaudelaire though in 1935 the official german flag was the nazi one, so maybe the colors of the notes are only a coincidence... but it also made me wonder...

  • ow em gee, I've been looking for this like FOREVER O: cant say how much I'm happy for finding it =D

  • I remember when I was a kid, singing the tune at 4:48 with the "BLORP" note at the end.

  • what is the pieces of 0:28 to 1:16 and composer please?

  • @masterclassicalmusic Minuet in G, WoO 10 No. 2 by Beethoven. Originally for piano.

  • @realar The problem isn't so much that the pitch is usually wrong, but that the tempo is wrong as well (by the same ratio). Funny story here: When screeners of the film Once were circulating prior to the Academy Awards, they had been transferred from a 25 frame format to 24 fr. and played a half-step lower and too slow. The music won the Oscar anyway, which leaves us with the question as to whether it would have won if it have been playing at the correct speed!

  • The saxes remind me sooooo much of Tubby the Tuba.

  • ow my god !......I LOVE THIS CARTOON

the last time I see this on TV I whas 8 years old, now I am 27 years old

    this brings back memories

  • i like very much the sound that the father does on 5:30 like " this is war, everybody get ready!!"

but it is kind of familiar to me, i heard it somewhere. It's part of a song, a musical or i'm just imaginating things?

  • @NitsuevoIII

funny is that when the simphony is attacking, the sound the organ does when "shooting" is anotehr classic "war song", this casek, the valkirie opera

  • Who conceived this cartoon: the script, the details and the score, was a genius.

  • What's next rock n roll? Or maybe pop?

  • This is fantastic! Great cartoon!

  • A good looking transfer. And, unlike other versions on the web, playing at the correct speed. (You can tell because the Wagner at 6:19 should be in B minor - which it is here. Most other posted version play it in C minor.)

  • @QWeirdness Finally someone who notices pitch differences, many apparently don't notice.

  • cool!!!

  • Agree with Hethrin, I used to love this short film. Symphony Hour and Peter and the Wolf were also amazing. Disney For The Win

  • Wow...nostalgia just swept over me like waves of music....I watched this cartoon all the time as a kid, it was on the Peter and the wolf VHS tape. Thanks for uploading.

  • At one tine 'War Tubas' actually existed.

They were used to detect enemy aircraft before the invention of radar.

(Not used offensively as in this cartoon.)

  • @jsl151850b we can say that was a good pun, however

  • I can understand many metaphores here inside every melody, but I missed the last part , in the weeding, can someone explain me why the Father and son are perspiring?, and why the father smiles when he pronunce that high note on the church? I considere this cartoon very interesting and a beautiful master work and I apretiate your answer. Thanks.

  • They're just both really anxious about the wedding. Then he smiles because he got through the wedding and now he's married.

  • @dominustecum

I think is kinda stereotipical the groom be nervous in the wedding

  • @MrKlausbaudelaire Thats true. And simple. I understand now. Thanks so much-

  • @dominustecum

your welcome ^^ I also keep imagining how was to make this episode's character's "voices" like making a violin laughs or a cello says "I do" xD

  • @MrKlausbaudelaire I didnt realize he said "I do"!!!! (spanish speaker) thats so funny , thanks so much!!!

  • i hear the eroica symphony!!!!

  • Right on. Fight with music note. lol

  • wait a minute. since the king and queen are getting married, wouldnt that make their children... siblings in law?

  • @F1315NJ It would make them half-siblings. In any case, isn't this cartoon promoting incest.

  • This was on Sing Me a Story with Belle.

  • That's a cute one.

By the way, the princess was a VIOLIN, not a cello.

  • Oops, my bad. Will fix it now. Thanks! And I agree, this is such a cute cartoon!

  • Great! In reality, the Bridge of Harmony was built by George Gershwin, indeed he composed symphonies including "An American In Paris" Rhapsodies as "Rhapsody in Blue", as well as Jazz like "Strike Up The Band" and Blues like "Summertime" sang later by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong.

  • amazing

  • That was lovely, superb creative work.
