  • "A' trains are still running 8th Avenue Express during normal hours in Brooklyn. Other times, "A" Trains runs as a local in Brooklyn.

The "C" Train was originally operating as, "the 8th Avenue Bronx Concourse Express", in the 1930's to early 1950's. The line was phased out for a long while. It re-appears as a 8th Avenue local when one of the original 8th Ave locals, "CC" , went out of service.

  • Boy! That was fun!

Thanks for posting - That was a fun arrangement

  • Way cool mandolin solo, Diesel!

Thank you for sharing this site.

  • Really different, very animated and both visually and auditorially pleasing! I especially appreciate the photo montage and lyrics!

    Excellent posting! Thank you.

  • Grande Duke!!!

    Questa versione è meravigliosa...!!

  • When A" Trains & "F" Trains operate on the 8th Avenue IND Route in Brooklyn, under Fulton Street, these trains alternate between each other running express or local between "Hoyt & Schemerhorn Street" in Downtown Brooklyn and "Euclid Avenue" East New York Brooklyn. when "F" Trains are temporarily re-routed from its "Coney Island Bound" route in Brooklyn it usually operate as a local or an express. "A" Trains operate as an express or local under Fulton Street when "F" Trains operate.

  • That's fantastic! Did you actually record all of the instruments? Or did you sample it through MIDI?

  • Realmente increíble. Saludos desde México.

  • Enjoyed it very much !!! Thanks for posting

  • Hello, Jeleosimi. Thanks for visiting. 8-)

  • Simply marvelous! Thanks DieselBodine!

  • Thanks, InquietudEterna, for visiting. Glad you liked it. 8-)

  • The "A" train, 8th Avenue Express, runs express in Brooklyn weekends as much as normal hours in Brooklyn. During late night hours, All "A" trains run local in Brooklyn. Sometimes, "F" trains alternate express and local service in Brooklyn during late night hours; eventhough "F" trains run between ConeyIsland via the Culver Line and 179 th Street Jamaica-Queens.

  • Very Very Artistic and Creative

  • Thanks, Denise! I love Ellington's tunes. 8-)

  • The "A" Train, 8th Avenue Express, is still running today. All "A" trains terminal stops are 207th Street Manhattan, Lefferts Boulevard

in Jamaica Queens near JFK Airport, Far Rockaway in Queens. All "A" trains run 8th Avenue Express during rush hours and normal hours.

  • The "A" Train, 8th Avenue Express, is still running today. All "A" trains run local during late night hours in Brooklyn & Manhattan. Monday thru Friday during rush hours and normal hours, "A" trains run 8th Avenue Express in Brooklyn and Manhattan.

  • Hello jkmlight. Thanks for the info on the ''A'' Train!

  • My pleasure... The "A" train, 8th Avenue Express, is always available to you...Duke Ellington & Billy Strahorn made the "A" train famous.

Check out information on the BMT 14th Street Canarsie Line which is known today as The "L" train & the IND Crosstown "GG" train, now known as the "G" train. If you wish, you may also ride the "E" train, 8th Avenue Queens Express. The "E" train, like the "A" train is an IND 8th Avenue Independent Subway Line..

  • Is your git-box a Synapse?

  • Hello trainchugger53! You know what. I don't remember which Guitar of mine I used on this, but I think it was a Danelectro, plugged into my computer with StealthPlug, and run through AmpliTube 2 Live... I think... I made this a year ago. Of course, I was just hamming it up with that Balalaika for the video.

  • still, no need for the enthusiasm. Can you do a re-edition of In the Mood and Sing Sing Sing? PPPPLLLLEEEEAAAAZZZZEEEEE!?!?!?!?

  • nice vibraphone sound.this song is popular in japan too.

    Greetings from Switzerland :-)

  • Hi Donjuandan... thank-you for visiting my video all the way from Switzerland!

    8-)

  • A joy for the eye and the ear; above all, you don't seem to take yourself too seriously, and yet you're both lighter, better, cleverer than most

  • Why thank-you so much littleglamorgirl! You put a smile on my face with your comment! 8-)

  • Your welcome!;)

  • An outstanding take on my most favorite song and a sweet tribute to The Duke.

    Thanks

  • Thanks for the kind words, cha5. I also made a video of me doing "Chelsea Bridge." I realize that tune was written by Billy Strayhorn, but it would be part of the Ellington Band's material. Check it out, too, if you're interested. I've done other Jazz tunes, too, though I'm more of a "variety" channel than strictly Jazz. I certainly love Jazz!

  • Ellington, Strayhorn and Bodine. Awesome!

  • It's a pleasure riding on the "A" train with Duke Ellington and Billy Strahorn.

The "A" Train, 8th Avenue Express.

  • Thanks for stopping by, jkmlight! Sounds like you really mean it! Ellington's music is just really cool. 8-)

  • I'm enjoying your channel so much! Hours of fine entertainment, and this is no exception! Absolutley marvellous stuff! Is there any thing you can't play? lol.

  • Thanks Ed! With all the work I put into so many of these videos, it sure is wonderful to get a comment like you just made. I appreciate it immensely! 8-)

  • I wonder if people realise how difficult it is to write Band arrangements. Yet Baron Bodine turns them out like shelling peas. You were born in the wrong era.

  • Andy, I would've loved, "musically speaking," to have been there in the Hot Jazz, Swing and Bebop eras. The musicianship of those people was astounding! The music had the excitement that later generations would bestow on Rock.

  • Hey Scott, a great, great Job,I liked your multi-instrumental arrangements, you're a great arranger man making it all sound crisp and fresh, liked your "Bazooki" guitar solo(very musical) and all this dedicated to me(and the Duke ofcourse) I would like to give you 12 stars on this one, very good and great sense of humor, greets Vic.

  • Thanks, Victor. Wouldn't it be great to meet those cats! The Balalaika "solo" was in the spirit of the other Indtrumentalists depicted in the video. I tried to make them look like they were playing this tune. LOL! I'm glad you liked the video! 8-)

  • Another great showcase for your multitude of musical talents Diesel & another fine video. One question, who's the handsome young man on upright bass at 01:18?

  • Hey Boots! That was me playing at the "Rodeo Bar" in NYC back in 2001. I was playing bass for "Moot Davis," an up & coming Honky-Tonk Singer-Songwriter. 8-)

  • Another great music video! The most I enjoyed that part from the relaxed vibraphone solo to the guitar solo.

  • Thanks, ftom. It was a fun video to make, both musically and the video itself.

  • You're a hep cat, daddy-o.

  • Thanks, "Big Daddy Del." 8-0

  • One more thing Diesel..anyone who brought you down to 4 stars on this one should be pissed upon.

  • I'm sad & heartbroken over it, but whatcha gonna do? It was probably some "hater," "music elitist," "person into a different kind of music," or "racist bigot." LOL... I'll get over being sad about it and life goes on... forcing a 8-)

  • DieselBodine, excuse me for possibly sounding inappropriate about my comment on that person that brought you down, but I totally agree. That was someone who had no appreciation for the hard work you did and couldn't see the genius in it. People can be strange at times on youtube. ((hugs))

  • I grew up listening to this music. My parents were of that generation and they loved Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Ella Fitzgerald. My dad would crank this music up so loud some days, you could hear it through the house and probably the neighbors could hear it too. LOL

  • My parents love this stuff, too. They'd go dancing to the Swing Bands when they were young. 8-)

  • This is a masterpiece Diesel. Truly a masterpiece. How you got to synchronize the tune with the actual movements of the musicians must have been painstakingly difficult. Brilliant! Just Brilliant!! A thousand stars.

  • Thanks, Rhonda. Calling it "a masterpiece" just tickles me pink (whatever that means!) I tried to get close with the synchronization... it's funny seeing the guys playing higher notes when the music is going into lower notes! LOL & 8-)

  • DieselBodine, if anyone can see it I could. My parents were such jazz fanatics and I can see you really did your homework. Wow ..still have to tell you this was something. Something very great. Fantastic job.

  • I loved it... as always. Crocs is still my fave though! LOL. Five stars.

  • Greetings CMV. "Crocs" was cool, but I got to forge ahead with new stuff. I know not everyone appreciates Big Band Swing Music, but I'm glad you liked the video! Thanks a bunch... 8-)

  • I love Big Band Swing when I hear it, but unfortunately, I am not very knowledgeable about it. I'm always trying to expand my knowledge of music though.

  • CMV... knowledge expansion is good! 8-)

  • wow!this is great.really really loved this one.dont you ever sleep?you sound tired.your working to hard

  • Hi Freddy... I'm temporarily layed off from work, so I spent the last couple of days working on this video. I hope my arrangement didn't sound "tired" to you. LOL You did say you loved the video, so I am pleased with that! 8-)

  • the arrangement didnt sound tired at all.did i detect a little "NOLA" in there?

  • you told D2W you needed to take a break.thats why i thought you sounded tired.i gotta watch my comments

  • and by the way the guitar playing is great!

  • Thanks, Freddy! Coming from you is a much welcome compliment! 8-)

  • Nice video! Thanks for sharing!

  • Thanks, Felix! I don't know how much Swing Music is appreciated in Portugal, but I'm happy you liked my effort. 8-)

  • i saw this last night, but YT wouldn't let me rate or comment, so I'm back baby! woohoo! nice vid.

  • Hi Jesse. Yeah, I've been having YT problems, too. I tried to respond to comments, leave comments on videos & channels and send emails, but things just wouldn't work. I'm glad you came back! Thanks! 8-)

  • My grandad was a "mobile DJ" -late 40's/50's in Hampshire hospitals. He set speakers in wards to play music to patients and worked with blind folk playing dance music - mainly Northern Dance Orchestra recordings, but also American swing. The "A" Train was one of my favourites when I was a kid. I like this rendition from the BODINES (Bodine Orchestra of Dance and Inovative New Expressions of Swing). 5**** and fav. Set up a new playlist - so far you are the only one who has made the grade.

  • Your grandad sounds like a cool person! The musical talent of those guys from years ago was extraordinary. I was hoping to honor the musical spirit of that age with this video. I wish more people appreciated the greatness of those historic geniuses. 8-)

  • He was pretty cool. Laid back man. Had a sort of quiet smile that made you think he knew something big about the universe but wasn't letting on. Welder by trade - self employed. Clever with metal. I have a few boxes of his records saved.

I think you did justifiable homage to the spirit and talent of those bygone musical geniuses. Man, you should be proud. Did a great job. Inspirational.

  • Thanks, Mike. My grandparents were cool, too. All gone now. I have various things that were theirs and now they're kind of treasured by me as part of the memories of the past.

  • Jazz Swing and Big Band? Can't go wrong with that! Ahhhh, a feast for the eyes and ears. Great job!

  • Thanks, d2w! Now I need to take a break before making my next video... well, maybe a short break. 8-)

  • Also Scott, I wanted to add, that I have some lute tunings in case you want to show that one off!

  • Congratulations! another phenomenon. That's a collection of phenomena.5*****

    Thanks.

    Barry

  • Thanks, Barry! I'm quite pleased that you like this. 8-)

  • Great musical arrangements as always Scott! Thats funny you should put this one up, Rhonda bought a CD where Count Basie and Duke Ellington do a collaborative piece together! 5 stars my man! (bet ya' didn't know I liked that did ya'!!)

  • I love finishing this stuff and posting it as much as making it! Maybe something a little different for my next video. I actually almost lost the sound file. when it was close to being done. because of a corruption problem, but I was able, luckily, to fix the problem and finish it. 8-)

  • Scott, I love all your stuff man, I think though when you make these particular type of vids, they are a great reflection of your awesome talents!

  • great!

  • Thanks! More on the way... sooner or later! 8-)

  • yay! me first 2 comment!! i just love your Happy videos Diesel! xoxoxox

  • Wphew! I was working on this puppy for days! Glad it's finished and that you like it as well! 8-)
