  • how much did bass increase with the jl's?

  • ur reflection in the Lap top looks scary! Blair witch proj! LOL!

  • ur reflection in the Lap top looks scary!

  • How much were they for both subs

  • insane!!!

  • this vid kills head phones, I found mines at gym, why did I put all the volume up, now I'm going to have to buy some

  • where can i find these subs, i wanna get 1 for my z2300

  • How many watts does your sub or subs take?

  • I hate when people try to make there system look good... Then forget about the camera itself..

  • are you using the z2300 amp? if so is it working out ok? because I'm looking into throwing in some aftermarket subs in to replace my logitech subs

  • This shows how inexperienced some people are. The logitech (tangband) z5500 subwoofer is rated at about 8 ohms because they are designed to be in an open room. The jl w3's are rated at 4ohms because they are designed to be in a truck or car reflecting off of the trunk or wherever it is placed. Because the w3's are in an open room, they'll sound like garbage until reflected properly... Dont buy things when you dont fully understand them...

  • @ezfingerboarder :D u dont know anything bro :D

the impedance (ohms) does not tell anything about where the woofer has to be placed :D the JLs sound garbage because it isn t a sealed enclosure.JLs are only good in sealed enclosure.the thing is: they are louder than the logitech because of the impedance! if the impedance is lower than more power reaches the woofer. for example an amp gives 200 watts @ 8 ohms than it probably can give 400 watts @ 4 ohms ;)

dont talk shit when u know nothing :D

  • @MrSl1x I actually know a lot about audio... and yes the impendance does change the sound in an open room I know this Ive been working at a car audio place for a while now. Incase you didnt know, they sound bad because theyre in an open room and all a sealed box does is allow more power to the sub... a ported box allows the lows to hit much harder and makes them sound better. I have a 12w7.

so dont tell me i know nothing because maybe you just didnt know that

  • @ezfingerboarder

i had my jl ported and sealed. all i found out ist that it got louder around 45hz in the sealed box and it got more precise..... in germany everyone who knows JL gets them into a sealed box. simply try it out. why do u think jl audio 's subs are originally placed in a sealed box? because they dont know anything? :D sure.

  • @MrSl1x I have a w7 in a prefab ported box. so no, they don't come in only sealed boxes

  • @MrSl1x Impendance is a rating of resistance of motion in a sub. If a sub moves more, the waves need to reflect more to produce audible bass

  • @ezfingerboarder WORD :-)

  • @ezfingerboarder those JL can be wired at 8 ohm...don't talk shit when you don't know shit ;)

  • @bigbenITA considering that there are two subs here, i highly doubt they are wired to 8ohms. when a pair of subs is wired together, the impendance is usually cut in half, not doubled.

  • @ezfingerboarder those sub are "dual"..so if you wire form amp to sub regular and from sub to sub inverted you get 8 ohm :))

  • @ezfingerboarder x2 thinking the same exact thing! its the same story with the foolz in the ghetto putting home subs in cars haha!

  • I think you mean 110 volts not 600 watts.

  • The Bass wanna Explode :D

  • i like how the camera cant handle the bass :P

  • 0:18 E A R G A S M ROFL

  • if a girl sat on those subs dyu think they would have a orgasm straight cuz im finkin of buyin em

  • :D Good Bass

  • Comment removed

  • @Matterboy81 no hes not u retard? xD LOLz

  • Bad idea if your not leting your subs breath if you do that the actaul sub will get super tight and blow. Just makin sure if the airport arnt in the back

  • @FSsk8rteam You're right, they are basically sealed sitting in that position unless he cut holes in the side of the cabinet... they have a large port on the left side.

  • Are they significanltly better than the original subs, like are they worth as an investment?

  • @JRprodz of course not, you're spending money in 2 subs and you throw the cones away and keep only the enclosure. then spending again on 2 new cones? you'd better spend all those coins (of 2 z2300's and 2 JL cones) in one really capable subwoofer.

  • can you spell overkill? cuz i sure can

  • yo how do u put hook it up cuz i just bought one

  • @bljtgill Take the grill of of the logitech z2300, undo all the screws, use some back bone and plyers to take off the orginal sub( caution the sub is magnetic and will drop like a rock to the bottom of the box), pull of the + and - wires on the subwoofer, plug them in on the new jl sub and put the screws back in. make sure power is OFF!!! 600W DOESNT FEEL GOON ON A FINGER!!! good luck!!

  • @ifergify You do not feel 600W...

  • @ifergify Ohh shit can i tocuh 600w?

  • man the sab need to be on floor this is 1 . 2get both out of there

  • wow nice camera. u should recommend it to steve meade his makes his bass sound shitty

  • now that is pretty AWSOME .. sweet stuff mate

  • Hey, i just ordered this no lie...then i saw this video..Is it worth it? And how did u get 2 Subs? mine is only coming with 1..Did u mod so it uses 2?

  • nice !

  • fuck JL

  • Are those ported? If they are you sir are a moron. The whole point of a ported sub is to bring air in behind the cone.

  • koo check mine out

  • at 0:18 my headphones went ppphhfff and then stoped working

  • @airsoftkid0102 lmfao made my day

  • @airsoftkid0102 Mine to!

  • are they running of the z2300 amps?

  • Did you change the subs on your own? And why did you change them anyway?

  • Was it worth it?

  • how do you change them? and was it really hat much of a difference?

  • sweet

  • now these are 4 ohm subs... but the amp would like 8... do you experience any problems? and is it easy to mod? because im looking to mod mine as well. with the same brand you did.

  • hey just wondering... plz someone reply. since you can put those subwoofers in those home computer subwoofers can you take the logitechs out and put them in a box and then put them in a car???????????/ if that makes since

  • @jarederajarederaj Why would you want the Z-2300 sub in your car?

  • they dont even got place to blow...put em out of there.

  • JL subs are bomb.

  • Nice but what the point of that? For the money to buy those subwoofers that you put in there and took out the other ones couldnt you have bought one or two more of the z-2300's? Wouldnt 3 or 4 of those be better than that

  • Nimm die aus dem Schrank da raus dann hast du viel mehr bass !!!

  • this system suck

    im sorry

    check out mine

  • Love the creativity and those boxes do have ports they are on the left I have a set up just like this

  • I must say, I'm far more impressed with the standard Logitech 8" woofer. Not only does it have a much greater Xmax than the 8W3V2, but It's matched for the amplogier where as the JL, you need to make sure the load is correct and you're not overpowering or underpowering since there's no gain control on the Logitech amp.

  • xD is nice what the music??

  • @itlosz1 a milli - Lil Wayne

  • wats the name of the music?!?!?!?!?

  • we have same desk :P

  • u realise u shouldn't have two subs next 2eachother like that? The magnet in each one need to be like a foot away from eachother

  • Sound ??

  • Better off using a digital source.

  • do a tutorial plz..

  • i have the same desk. heavy as hell

  • How did you go about connecting it to logitech's amplifier? Did it work, and does any old 8 inch sub fit.

    Thanks

  • please link to download mp3

  • a million is the song

  • What the song ?

  • A Millie - Lil Wayne

  • You don't have enough room for air flow...your sub will overheat. Plus it won't sound as good.

  • @xeonfuze hes right those subs wont last in there for much longer

  • @MeditatingMantis Why not?

  • @xeonfuze the port has nothing to do with cooling. It makes the bass louder.

  • @judeh101 This is true, but say you blocked of the port totally. You now have no port...the subwoofer then has to work harder to move. This causes it to produce more heat then it normally would yeah?

  • @xeonfuze both yes and no, sealed box work like a spring, so the sub can receive more power without burning out. Ported is pretty much the same except when it's out of the box's tuning frequency, it bottoms out and doesn't play well

  • @judeh101 So you could go lower if you had a sealed box assuming your amp was powerful enough?

  • @xeonfuze a sealed box has a not-so steep slope. a ported has a pretty steep slope. Prior to my last message, a sealed box has less efficiency than a ported box.

  • hola

  • the subwoofers need air to operate.

Take them out of the desk drawer and let them stand free on the floor.

  • Comment removed

  • @calvinblinkee

They work by moving air and if there is a restriction of air around them they won't perform as well as being in a drawer

  • Well yeah, what I was thinking was if you seal the subwoofer enclosure, it would still work.

  • @calvinblinkee

You can't seal the subwoofer cabinet because the subwoofer is a bass reflex system that needs the port on the side left open to let air in and out with the movement of the speaker.

look at other examples of the z-2300 on the web and see where they place items in front of the port and the objects are moved by the air flow in and out of the cabinet.

It will sound much better if you remove them out of the desk enclosure and let them "breathe"

good luck with your new system.

  • Comment removed

  • @calvinblinkee

A bass reflex speaker with an open port to the interior of the cabinet should never be sealed up.

You are restricting the movement of the speaker coil on the subwoofer and this will cause it to burn up and smoke. Look up bass reflex deisgn on google and see for yourself.

Another thing you might not realize is that an underpowered amplifier can burn up a speaker faster than an amplifier of adequate power. Look that up too.

  • You have seen setups with sealed subwoofer setups right? This actually increases the subwoofers thermal limits allowing to actually take more power. Also, it can actually increase sound quality on certain subwoofers. Underpowered amplifiers can blow a speaker - that's when people force the amplifier to do more than it can do which sends a clipped signal to the speaker making it distort. Throwing 200 watts at a 500 watt subwoofer won't blow up as long as the signal is clean.

  • @calvinblinkee

you can seal subwoofer setups but the cabinet has to be re-designed to operate at the design frequency.

If you had the know how and equipment to test your setupp now you would see it fail the frequency sweep test with gaps in it.

Sealing a subwoofer will only serve to restrict the throw of the coil and foam roll which cuts off bass lows. You will never understand the concept of clean audio design and you will end up with speakers that burn up.

  • @calvinblinkee

People with a sealed enclosure designed them to be sealed from the outset.

They will be better than bass reflex systems usually.

But that is not the case where you are taking a bass reflex design and sealing it up to become a poorly designed sealed system.

  • Doesn't covering up the hole inner port basically just makes your box size smaller and the outer part of the port is like just a huge brace.

  • @calvinblinkee

    No.

It has to be designed from the start to operate efficiently at the design frequencies.

Insolating the side and bottom of the bass reflex speaker system is sometimes called for to reduce resonance that would only cause distortion. Other times the speaker enclosure is made larger to allow for the fact that the speaker is limited with the amount of air it has avilable to move in and out freely.

  • Well I learned something new. But still a subwoofer won't blow with small amplifier as long as it doesn't clip.

  • @calvinblinkee

Then there is the speaker design and cone material that will affect the output.

what you are doing is taking a bass reflex design and inserting a bass reflex speaker into it and then sealing it up therefore making it a completely different speaker that more than likely will not work as well as a properly designed bass reflex system.

This is just a waste of money for a speaker that is not being utilised as it was designed to be used in a bass reflex box with a tuned port.

  • Isn't the bass reflex speaker just a 'subwoofer'? So what happens now that he replaced the Tang Bands with different subwoofers which he says is louder?

  • @calvinblinkee

Bass reflex speakers are not just subwoofers.

The bose 301's are bass reflex speakers and they are designed to operated from 30-20,000 hz

The Avid speakers are bass reflex, the Sound Dynamics 10S and 20S are bass reflex too.

Klipsch speakers are sometimes bass reflex and I had a Klipsch system in the 70s that were huge cabinets. They measured approx. 3 feet square and 5 feet high. They took up the whole rec room but sounded great.

The efficiency of a speaker is important too.

  • How is this song called?

  • A Milli - Lil Wayne. It's great for subwoofer testing because it just has loads of unnecessary bass ;)

  • @switzplaysguitar The pass is pathetically high though.

  • @switzplaysguitar that's true, but the bass is kinda high for my liking. I like lower bass.

  • @switzplaysguitar not really, it has high bass, a real sub test is a song with LOW bass. this song i use to test my mids :P

  • @switzplaysguitar Yeah, it's good for shitty subwoofers with a pathetic frequency response, but for awesome subwoofers that demand challenging tracks with deep, hard hitting bass? I don't thing so...

  • @switzplaysguitar "unnecessary bass"? Never heard of such a thing. ;)

  • which one is the best to put in the subwoofer's box?

    8' jl audio w1v2-8

    8'jl audio w3v3-8

    8' kicker cvr dual 4ohm

  • Hey Bro How much u want 4 those subs?-i got two ten inch orions in custom vented box if u want 2 trade?

  • if you are trading orion hcca's you sir are a dumbass

  • did you shwits, the orginale subs?

  • Shit* :D

  • it is good idea with this subs he he i am impressed but is it louder , better than with original subs logitech ?

  • Would the higher end 8W3v3 work instead of the 8W3v2?

  • Higher end? Its just a newer model.

  • why did you use the 8W3V2 instead of the 8W1v2? its way cheaper and i dont think you would see a noticeable improvement.

  • he got these subs cheap :-)

  • where did you buy this sub from? i cannot find it online. how much is it?

  • did u amplify them or just "tie" them down? cause y wanted to put a ground zero in my sub

  • looks like the JL's have a smaller rubber surround than the original woofers (resulting in less excursion)

  • not nesassarily!

  • jus in these subs they are folded back

  • negative... surround doesnt have much to do with excursion.... its all in the motor assembly.... of course you do need a bigger surround for longer excursion, but most lame comapnies (logitech) will make huge surrounds and have junk motor assemblies resulting in less excursion. the jl woofers will sound better and have more excursion.

  • indeed i already noticed that the logitech woofers didn't move to the max excursion that the surround would allow.

  • thats so true but, im sure if you put the sub on another amp like a proper sub amp it would because ive done it already.

  • far more watts? wouldnt expect the woofer to do else:P but i would rather use a higher efficiency driver in a larger cabinet, you'll get more bass per watt.

  • what you mean far more watts? the amp 320w max so it had around the same rms as the sub or a little more, and it actually sounded better and flexed alot more

  • do you mean 320W peak power, or rms? there's a huge difference. even if it's peak power the rms of the amp will be around 160W which is still noticeable, and besides, of course it can sound better cause amp quality also matters:P the stock amp distorts easily

  • 320 peak, max=peak. e.g. 3000w max 1800rms

  • hm that's nice, mine just 125 rms but it has 88db efficiency so it will go pretty loud (audioengine s8). performs really great, maybe not for insane bass but music sounds awesome as it's tight, precise and very deep.

  • audioengine is the name of the amp?

  • nope it's the brand of the powered speakers and sub.

  • haha talk about blowing the house up, my neighbours wouldnt allow it :P wold tha stop me ... never, nice tho manz

  • JL or Kicker?!?

  • look at the damn dust covers you idiot!!! JL

  • JL its the shit how are the prices of that JL subs

  • nice dude. how many watts ??

  • i got the original 8inch and a 10inch alpine hookt up to mine IT SLAPS

  • im gettin a jl 8w7 for mine

  • omg youre nuts :D i wanna see that jl 8w7 in action :>

  • lol

    if you close the door

    HIDDEN BASS

  • no bass cos it will be kept in the cupboard and all you will hear is this loud rattling door.

  • @ducttaperulestheworl No lots of irritating rattling noise from the door, that's what.

And i'm always amazed at people that make vids to show off their speakers/subs but don't even have the money to buy a decent microphone to plug into their camera. You know, so it sounds like you actually have a decent setup and all. :P

  • @LogiForce86

    this is life lol

people just follow what others do :)

about the mic thing... it's not easy cuz many people will think it's worthless to have an extra mic when they already have a built in one

plus with good mic may reduce the boominess of the subwoofer which makes people hate em

because the mic records what it should record but not making it muddy by adding extra BOOMS in it...

  • @ducttaperulestheworl lmao... got a big point there about life and people. heh

But like you said it "may" reduce boominess. There are loads of different mics. I bet they can find one that suits them. And even then there are loads of techniques to bring back those extra booms. If not a normal single or double bass drum would sound like crap. ;)

I mean even the Creative X-Fi with its "crystalizer" can bring the punch back to dull compressed mp3's. So the same can be done for recordings. ;)

  • coool!! whatz the song????????

  • A Milli by Lil' Wayne. Shit song to test subs imo. Bass is too high.

  • well srry iv nvr heard of it so idk witch is bst!

  • nice subs i got one like these :)

  • Does it sound better now?

And can you crank up the volume more than the old 8"?

  • how do i get a 4 ohm sub to run off the 8 ohm amp in the z-2300

  • by buying a Dual voice coil sub and series wiring it to the connections on the amp.

  • 8 can be just as expansive as a ten or 12 i dont no why people keep buying them

  • takes less space you have have some nice bass but not everything in your house wil rattle.

Dont get me wrong i have a 12inch to but also some 8inch i think 8inch is best for home and a 12 more for a car

  • ya i no what you mean but i just saying that for thew people how spend like 500-600 on a pair of 8's thats crazy if you spent that much you problie spent 200-300 on yours

  • Maan that rocks!

  • How much is that cone JL?

  • looks nice

  • nice

  • question could i run 2 of those subs off one of those qlogic system

  • cool ; - )
