I thought the circle-square thing was symbolic of Rene's antisemitic perspective on the struggle of the urban proletariat -- class against class -- different in appearance, but "almost" equal within. I remember when my geometry teacher told us a triangle can't be trisected. That sounded hokey to me. I thought, "If a line segment and a circle can be trisected, then why not an angle?" So I set out to do it. I spent months trying. In the process, my mnd was expanded.

Then I finally did some real research on it and found out my teacher was right. Hoax nuts do the same thing, only when they find out they're wrong at every turn, they never seem to draw the obvious conclusion.

I can't wait to hear what KanGaBoy says you missed or misrepresented about Ralph's "work". Yes, it's sad not having Luke around with his keen insight into all things Rene. With Luke being an actual scientist, I think Rene and his "misunderstandings" really got under his skin. I just consider Rene a rare oddity.

kidding, excellent video this hurt my head since iv not taken geo, trig, or calc in over 3 years...i could follow along but.....probably couldnt have solved it in a night.

hum...maybe create a "simple" trig problem and see if ol JW can solve it ....on video, on a white board.....no cheatsies, that would be fun :)

@destin325 But, I thought I hid all the wires. Actually, I did do something like that. Some of the lines "moved" by making them shorter, so instead, I hid the parts that didn't belong in that step behind black shapes. It was like a Chinese puzzle box by the time I got done with it.

Bet you could. It can be difficult following someone else's demonstration. I'll bet if you set out to do your own, you would reach the same conclusions by a different method. All you need is area formulas and Pythagorean Theorem.

I did it, and I've been out of college math a lot longer than you. You would get a square with area sqrt2 + sqrt3 and in the process see that there is no reason to believe it's the same as the circle.
