  • Also the song isn't quite right for either species.

  • @EtheralDarkness Songs vary even in each breed. As soon as it started singing and dancing I knew it was a Society. Twinkle-twinkle, mee-meep, twinkle-twinkle, mee-meep, twinkle-twinkle, zzzzt! It's got all 16 of mine going bonkers. My Zebras are all straining to see who the newcomer is.

  • I breed spice finches and society finches as well as many others. This is not a pure bred society finch. Most likely a spice / society cross. Not enough pied variation in the plumage to be a society , irregular pattern in the breast area for a spice. These birds can crossbreed and I'd say this is most likely what happened here. I've seen it in my own aviary when a society and a spice paired up and this is what some of the babies looked like.

  • THEY ARE SOO PRETTY!!!

  • My finch does that too!

  • is it possible to tame these guys after u purchase from pet store?

taming it like...how u put ur finger out and make it stay there instead of flying haywire all over

  • That definitely is not a spice finch. For one, the markings on the breast are much more scalloped on a spice finch. Even more obvious is the song and dance this little guy is doing. Spice finches wouldn't sing and dance like that any more than a zebra or gouldian finch would.

  • That's definately a spice finch. Society finches are mostly white with brown or tan backs and wings, white spice finches are a dark rusty brown with the spangled breat feathers.

  • Those are the prettiest societies I've ever seen!!!

  • @rbentrdr , thanks. I think they enjoy their life :-)

  • Your finch is very nice!!!!

  • Can you tame these little guys at all? I'm getting one in two days and I'd like to know before I buy one. Even if it is just a look, don't touch kind of pet, I'd still like one.

  • I have one and she does the same thing... I love when they do that! Her BFF, Sky, died over the summer from unknown causes so now we have Lily who is a white (albino) Zebra finch.

  • Nice song. Nice bird.

  • Lol I got a Society Finch and I thought it was a female. Until it started singing.

  • nice vid

    isnt this called spice finch?

    i have four of them

  • @karpov711 ,

thank u. This is deffinately a society (or bengalese) finch. The spice finches beaks are darker and the plumage on the chest is different.

  • @Murfika are these birds loud or more quiet i am thinking about getting one but i need one that would be more quiet. thanks please write back

  • nu va kap graze :}~
