  • I've had mine about (XXXSuper40EFX) about 5 years now with no probs.

Nothing will touch it in its present price range, if you see one , get it.

  • just found one of these online and i'm hopefully going to buy it, cuz you made it sound great man. i've got an IB too and it's a white ARX140 i love it. nice rips man keep rockin

  • Great demo. Sounds just like my XXX. I'm thinking about swapping tubes if I can get a better rhythm sound. I like it ok for leads but its a tad fuzzy for my taste, even with an eq on it. Great skill level for your age dude.

  • thank you finally! so what are your over all impressions of the amp?

  • Nice chops. I can't help but thinking this amp (in ALL Youtube demos) sounds a bit flabby... I like the tone of the 2nd setting you played (kinda "scooped" sounding), but it was very fuzzy/flabby, even the palm mutes didn't have sufficient "chunk" to them. Not a gripe about your playing at all... I guess if I want Mesa chunk, I'll have to pay for it.

  • scarified!!!

  • Good video, thanks. Paul Gilbert is GOD!!!!!!

  • What's the song at 2:18?

  • @dono159 technical dificalities

  • What's the song at 2:18?

  • what are your settings? I own a Peavey XXX 120 watt combo. im not sure what the best settings are. im trying to get a good lead tone, and since I cant sell it i may as well get the most out of it

  • Can this amp do modern metalcore like Parkway Drive, As Blood Runs Black, As I Lay Dying kind of stuff?

  • @Levi790 absolutely, one of the mainstay metalcore amps is the 6505, and the ultra channel is so close to on the XXX its amazing, just click the damper switch on the back to tight and go to town, its the crunch channel where it really sings, way more mid

  • @Levi790 Yes, if you watch any other video on Youtube, you will hear that.

  • @Ghold125

    It's all good. I got a 6505 now.

  • sounds to me like a typical high gain Digital Modeling Head...

  • Has some nice sparkle on the clean. Never thought I'd say that about a Peavey

  • totalna popicovka :D

  • You and Trey kick ass did you go to chamberlain

  • Thanks man, do I know you from somewhere? And yeah I'm there right now. Senior year. Thanks for watching!

  • Great demos dude!

I like them all. I don't think you've ever owned gear that I personally didn't like :) Great amp taste :)

Btw your voice sounds like Sam Witwicky from Transformers :D

  • Thanks man, I really appreciate it! More coming! Its fun demoing this stuff for everyone! And Haha I guess a bit

  • orion 2:11 - 2:16

    xD

    awsome amp

  • Ive heard this amp is tons better than the XXL, is that true? When I tried the XXL, the distortion sound was like cardboard

  • @Rambo29 the XXL is transtube, this is all tube. This is by far a much, much, much better amp.

  • The XXX is all tube. Much better amp IMO. :),

  • @Rambo29 the xxl is solid state, this is tube, and its tons better

  • Its the Tube version of the XXL of course its better

  • The xxx is definitely better, Haha and I like the phrase, "sounded like cardboard". Stealing that :P

  • Outstanding demo! I already knew the "metal capabilities" of this amp, but no one else let us hear it "clean". You're one heck of a play too! THANKS.

  • Thank you!

  • paul gilbert sweet

  • Great chops Man. Nice to see someone who knows the amp and how to use it. Thanks

  • Thanks man. I'm glad I got a demo in before I sold it. I have a Laney VC50 now. Ill be doing a demo of that soon!

  • If you still got the amp, how much do you want for it?

    <|M|

  • Sorry don't have it anymore. I now have a Laney VC50

  • around how much do these amps run the half stack modles?

  • Love this Amp!! Is heavy as a Tank!! Peavey re-release it! it's called 3120 now :D

  • Nothing wrong with the XXX. It has ultra responsive controls, tweaking it is a learning process. Moreso than most amps.

    1) JJ tubes are great in this amp

    2) stock speakers need serious breaking in before it sounds good...or you can just swap them out.

    3) The type of guitar/pickup combination you use makes a difference, too.

  • this is a great amp. you are probably some mesa fanboy.

  • nope

  • your tone is better than paul gilberts, that's for sure. whenever i can find this amp and afford it, im buying one!

  • haha thanks but its not!

Actually mine is for sale. message me about it and we can probably figure something out.

  • is it still for sale?

  • what are you playing from 1:15 to 1:26? sounds like you're trying to play something by a japanese power metal band called galneryus.

  • nope just improv. haha

  • Thank you so much.

  • Dude, you played that really nice. Paul Gilbert stuff was great. Btw. great sounding amp!

  • a good sounding amp- you'd never know that from all of the CHUNG-CHUNG-CHUNG death metal shit being played in XXX reviews. Thanks for posting a "normal" video of the XXX being played by a real player. THANKS!

  • What about the Bugera 333xl?

  • Whats better XXL or XXX? I found better reviews for the XXL.

  • xxx is tubed, its better.

  • 333xl is a tube amp too but it's lower quality

  • how do you change the preamp tubes? seem hard to pull out. TY!

  • wiggle them carefully while pulling.

  • wow cool paul gilbert style playing

  • it's about time somebody did a NORMAL demo of this amp.

  • Good review but I like the 6505 better.

  • tht sounded awesome dude, but in ur oppinion, the 212 valveking or this one?

    thanks very much

  • The XXX for sure if you are looking for high gain. VK for cleans. If you don't want to spend the money for a XXX then buy a VK with an OD pedal.

  • Ah nice guitar! I got one of those to :) But I have the JSX Combo instead, it feels better for me. But I will try yhe XXX if I come across one!

  • yesss paul gilbert, u legend!

  • just by listening. you dont play much clean music do you?

  • nice scarified solo

  • cool demo bro-

many of our songs are a PRS custom22 or american deluxe strat with a 2-12" XXX

    the amp sounds great

you can roll guitar vol down to around 5-7

crank the master to 10 & channel vol about 4-7

    roll the gain back to about 2 - 3 ( 9 o'clock ish)

and that my friends will purrrrrrr

the combo 2-12" is the same amp as the head BUT it also has spring reverb (the head doesn't) for me that was a big deal cuz i play mostly blues / fusion kinda stuff

  • i cant see the settings because of the light do you think you could tell me the settings ;P

  • I hear scarified in there :P

  • Really? i think the bugera sounds very very good... do you have tried the bugeras?

  • Bugeras may sound great for the price, but they fall apart as soon as you look at them.

  • haha! Etaucher, you said most people would kill for that deal... i got the same XXX 2x12 combo at my local guitarcenter used for..

no not 700, not even 600, but 499 :P bitchezz!

That's cheaper than you bought your valveking.

and i play on a 7 string so i do really high

gain metal, and a lot of standard E tuning too

IT TAKES BOTH LIKE A CHARM :]

  • Great stuff dude. Thinking about selling my VK 112 and getting this.

    Few questions:

    1. Did you record this amp cranked? If not, does it sound the same or better when cranked?

    2. How loud does it go?

    3. How much did you get it for?

  • Thanks man. Yeah go for this thing. Sounds a ton better than any of the VK's.

    1. No it was at about 2. I haven't cranked it past 7, but its not a dramatic difference in tone quality when its louder.

    2. It goes loud enough for any small-medium sized gig. Loud enough to shake your entire room and to make your ears bleed. I cant handle past 7 being near it.

    3. I got it used at my local samash, a good deal. bout 700$ USD. hahaha I know so many people would kill for that deal. lol

    Thanks

  • I just sold mine on ebay for $475.00...where were you when I put it up for $550.00??? lol, i already regret selling it but I also have a 5150 combo and I'm never selling that thing. Awesome amp, solid and the most versatile high gain amp in terms of options and sounds.

  • What sounds better in your opinnion? Im thinking about buying 5150 or XXX 2x12 combo. I had already play on 5150 and i must say that i liked it. I have to check xxx out.

  • both fantastic amps! If you just want distortion, 5150 is better by leaps and bounds. If you want an amp that is more versatile then go with the XXX. It has footswitchable fx loop, 3 diff channels, clean is decent for a high gain amp. 5150 only does one thing, but it does it very well; high gain kick u in the balls distortion

  • @killyoupl i like 5150 more soundwise both clean and distortion. however, ive heard xxx with el34s (normally comes with 6L6 stock) and that makes a huge diff. get the xxx with el34s

  • oh yeah, and they are both built like tanks (weigh alot also, but that probably helps them sound good)

  • if you can find a XXX as cheap as i did, jump

right on it. 120W for 500 you can probably find

a super 40 or 60W around there or cheaper. its crunch channel is everything the valveking wants to be plus more. not to mention the Ultra chanel.

  • Dude awesome covers. You even did some Via! Great work! I want to get this amp. I really love Peavey and i have a Peavey Valveking 212 which is a great amp but i'd love to have a Triple XXX

  • I have this amp and love it to death!

  • I mean is the gain circuitry really noisy when you're not playing and you don't have a noisegate engaged.

  • Metal Dog ftw! =] Nice amp demo.

  • I got mine used, i think the tubes are messed up (still stock)

Also, you have to admit the clean channel isnt really special.

Great job on the video again.

  • I bought this amp and its shit.

Good review though, good to see someone playing this amp and not playing not that melo-death bullshit

  • sounds awesome dude! How's the thing for noise? I'm seriously considering the head version.

  • Great sound dude!! I'm going to buy this amp too, but the 60 w version (120 w are too much..). Are there some differences between them??
