@DeathBringer9000 yea that's pretty much what happens.the projectile's inertia tends to keep it in place while the magnetic field propels it. An equal reaction is exerted on the gun. This would apply to ANY kinetic ranged weapon, so any gun, coilgun, railgun, crossbow, slingshot or whatever will always have some amount of recoil.
well was it a disposible camera cuz i never saw anything like that just a board from a camera is what i used but wow thats prett good its a good setup

could it have something to do with the weight of the projectile? like it was too heavy so the coil launched itself?

well yea of course I bought it, it's a camera flash :| I didn't make my own pcb and solder all the components, I had no idea how.
