  • looks cool

  • Cool!

  • This is amazing.. well done man!

  • that is cooolll!!

  • Genius! Max/MSP FTW!

  • This is... AMAZING! So jealous right now...

  • WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON!!

  • great stuff!

  • what's that thing in the arm? is it like jonny's from radiohead?

  • jonny uses max/msp but the thing on his arm is actually just an arm brace from his aggressive playing.

  • Miller Puckett invented Max/MSP based on the work by Max Mathews.

  • Miller Puckett did invent the max language, that took the name from max mathews. somewhere around 1990, msp (audio object library) only were available in 1996/97. Miller Puckett frustated with some max programing, developed afterwards the Pure Data (Pd) language, close to max/msp. and free...

  • imagine what you could do with the actual knowledge of saxophone techinque!

  • @thecosmicrain I think his sound is great! I looked see if you'd posted any videos of yourself playing with actual knowledge of saxophone technique, but didn't find any.

  • Reminds me of the sound track to David Cronenbergs Naked Lunch

  • this is amazing

  • Idiot.

  • Radiohead didn't invent max msp, you're obviously really frustrated with yourself to be so angry.

  • No really!!?? I thought Lester Young did!!!

  • muyyy impresionante,,, de verdad un virtuoso

  • That was really cool. Were you actually using your arm movements to control the audio via midi though? If you were, what were you using to pick up the motions?

  • lol at the little fart sound at 0:29

  • dude i think there's something wrong with your saxophone

  • brilliant!

  • Thats nice, welldone! Somehow funny but impressive too!!! :P

  • IT SO AMAZING!

  • i heard farts!

  • thank you for inspiring me.

  • Very hip. I'd watch a longer piece. I really like the way the visual ghosts seem to be triggering some of the effects. nice concept.

  • It could probably be a camera fed into a max msp and recognizing hand gestures from that feed to manipulate input sound.

  • I still dont understand so is it a laser? or do u just do it from a pedal? or what? is it like a laser thats run to u or sommin then whenever u move it repeats the sound?

  • That's fucking incredible! How do you do that! I've heard of Max/MSP before but I don't really know what it is, or what it does other than make amazing sound like that. I'd love to pick your brain about it!

  • Obviously the original poster will be able to explain more effectively, but Max is basically a visual programming language that allows you to control data and sound by using a small number of basic commands. The beauty of Max is the sheer flexibility - this user has some kind of movement sensor hooked up to a MIDI input of some sort and is triggering using that. It works beautifully. If you know what you're doing - which I don't yet.

  • i think max msp is pretty expensive, if you search wii midi you can find some people that hacked those controllers to do basically this same thing

  • theres a torrent on piratebay, cheers

  • does sax pedals change its sound in a drastic way? are they special pedals?

  • have you used matrix based feedback controlled by audio parameters to do this? great stuff man

  • FART

  • Behold... the SAXOFART :)

  • sounds like something off the SAN diffusion record from about 2000, so not groundbreaking, but i'd still like to see the MAX patch you were using and what sensors you used to trigger it

  • wouldn't it be easier if you put the patch on your leg?

  • put an accelerometer on your crotch, too.

it might engender some new creative pathways. . .

  • crotcherometer for added interactivity!~

  • Whoa.

  • Muy interesante, el video tmb está trabajado con Max en tiempo real?

  • wtf was that?!?!?!

  • What can you tell me about the sensor you have in your arm ?

  • can you explain Cycling '74 kroonde? a little more?? what is it exactly

  • Max Msp is a powerful tool if you know how ti use it!

  • no hablan español

  • es lo verga!!

    si

  • es lo verga!!

    si

  • you can delete kbekin comments without any regret. He's just cursing in spanish. On the other hand, great job.

  • hej i´m new in max/msp and i want to do the colour effect you use in the video. have you a link, code or short hint? thx

  • That actually was done post in final cut, but there is a Jitter object in Max that will separate rgb channels like the above video effect. I can't think of it off the top of my head but I will message you when I remember

  • awesome!

  • I like it. More sensible control would be better of course but the visual aspect compensates for that!

  • im not even gonna try to understand how u did this

  • that is some cool shit dude

  • WTF!!!! it's awesome!!!

  • awesome!

  • very cool. perhaps try exerting more control over the patch through the motion of your arm, like a theremin almost.

  • most definitely, this was sort of a test run and will be improved on in the future. thanks!

  • dood...

  • Man. This Vid is Totally Awesome. Maxmsps´s really incredible. I´m just getting into it myself, but really as a newbie to max. Have you got some sensor thing going on this vid?

    Cheers Kenn

  • Thanks! I'm just getting into it as well. I used a Kroonde which is a wireless unit that will support 18 sensors. I only used 3, haha

  • you also have to have a small penis!

  • Can that be used to make music ?

  • a lot of people do use it for music...some just make noise, haha. check out cycling74, they're the company that makes max/msp and have lots of good content on their site.

  • Sax/MSP lololol. Oh the PUNishment.

But, really, yeah, that was fantastic! (y)

  • Wow.. Congrats it is awsome

  • how do you do that ? that was fucking fantastic ! ?

  • O.O

    Cool

The guy from the Mars Volta, Adrian I think his name is, he should use that.

  • absolutely incredible.

  • Two thumbs up!!

  • that is FANTASTIC!
