Miller Puckett did invent the max language, that took the name from max mathews. somewhere around 1990, msp (audio object library) only were available in 1996/97. Miller Puckett frustated with some max programing, developed afterwards the Pure Data (Pd) language, close to max/msp. and free...
@thecosmicrain I think his sound is great! I looked see if you'd posted any videos of yourself playing with actual knowledge of saxophone technique, but didn't find any.
That was really cool. Were you actually using your arm movements to control the audio via midi though? If you were, what were you using to pick up the motions?
You say Jonas Brothers, i say ur a homo, they suck
92 % of kids have turned to rap, pop, and hip hop. If your one of the 8 % who like to headbang and ROCK OUT, copy and paste to 4 videos. Unless your one thats scared to stand up for real music
I still dont understand so is it a laser? or do u just do it from a pedal? or what? is it like a laser thats run to u or sommin then whenever u move it repeats the sound?
That's fucking incredible! How do you do that! I've heard of Max/MSP before but I don't really know what it is, or what it does other than make amazing sound like that. I'd love to pick your brain about it!
Obviously the original poster will be able to explain more effectively, but Max is basically a visual programming language that allows you to control data and sound by using a small number of basic commands. The beauty of Max is the sheer flexibility - this user has some kind of movement sensor hooked up to a MIDI input of some sort and is triggering using that. It works beautifully. If you know what you're doing - which I don't yet.
sounds like something off the SAN diffusion record from about 2000, so not groundbreaking, but i'd still like to see the MAX patch you were using and what sensors you used to trigger it
That actually was done post in final cut, but there is a Jitter object in Max that will separate rgb channels like the above video effect. I can't think of it off the top of my head but I will message you when I remember

Man. This Vid is Totally Awesome. Maxmsps´s really incredible. I´m just getting into it myself, but really as a newbie to max. Have you got some sensor thing going on this vid?
a lot of people do use it for music...some just make noise, haha. check out cycling74, they're the company that makes max/msp and have lots of good content on their site.

It could probably be a camera fed into a max msp and recognizing hand gestures from that feed to manipulate input sound.
