He's not saying anything you're supposed to agree with. He's telling you to Imagine (hence the name of the song) what things would be like if everything and everyone was the same, living in harmony, and everybody had similar ideas.

They went against the status quo of the power elite and there agenda's .These men have all come to an untimely death at the end of a bullet. If you ask me, it is no co-incidents that these men were killed (assassinated). You can count me in John. I love this song and it's message.

This song, is by far the best song John Lennon ever wrote and no one will ever sing it better than John did. It is totally profound and gets its message across without anything else needing to be said. I am an ultra conservative but there has never been a song that moves me like this one does. I truly wish John was still with us.

I don't need a heaven and there has never been empirical proof of a supernatural deity. You are born, you live the best you know how and then you will die. John is saying that religion is the cause of most wars and life w/o religion would be better. for all humans.

2012 is when the aztec calander resets itself. they actualy belived that the earths magnetic fields would reverse. (north pole becomes south pole and so on) however this would not cause any catostrophic disaster, there is no scientific evedince that anything will happen.. and its not soposed to happen on the first day of 2012 its like march 12 or something.
pollution couldnt kill us that fast. the end of the world is at least like 500 years away. unles god dose exsist and kills us all.

What part of the lyric " Imagine that there's no heaven, and no religion too" confuses about how John felt? I was raised Roman Catholic but I have never believed that any deity existed. I'll defend your right to believe but please don't force your beliefs on anyone. My agnostic beliefs are not a statement of amorality because I am Buddhist.
BTW, The idea that John is proposing is a society of social libertarianism, also known as political anarchy.

You and I both will never know what John was really thinking when he wrote this song. However, it is a pretty well known fact that John was a Roman Catholic. And he didn't try to hide it like you are doing as an atheist. I'm not forcing my beliefs on you, I just pointed out the hole in your logic and you don't like it. Why is that? Frankly, I don't care other than the fact I hate to see someone go to hell and live through the things John spoke of in hell. Trust me, it's not the land of milk and honey and it is the worst place one could go. But, it's your decision. John may have been raised Catholic but the lyrics of this song are quite clear about his spiritual beliefs. If you have chosen to believe that there is no God and we just die after we have lived our lives, I really feel sorry for you. And after you take your last breath in this world, I really feel sorry for what you are going to experience next. It is the worst of worst life experiences. Think about this for 30 seconds, Imagine, (no pun intended) coming to and finding yourself in a fire that will never go out? I have unfortunately suffered through 3rd degree burns.

And burns are the worst pain one can ever be subjected to. They hurt and the pain is so bad you would almost wish someone would put a bullet in your head, just to stop the pain. It is that bad. Now, imagine experiencing that 24 hrs a day for eternity. I don't know about you, but I have experienced burn pain where no amount of morphine would stop. Otherwise, if I was given the amount of morphine to stop the pain, I would have died from cardiac arrest.

And like I said, we can't ask John exactly what he was referring to but I think your comment about, "John proposing social or political anarchy" is close except from listening to the song I think he was talking about Imagine having to live in a state of social and political anarchy. Maybe that is what you meant. If so, I agree with you.

political and social anarchy is not a state of lawlessness. Political anarchy is technically termed social libertarianism and it is best defined where there is not steading government where people voluntarily cooperate and share the fruits of their labor for the betterment of the entire society, instead of the riches of a few at the expense of others. Please read Peter Kropotkin's "conquest of bread" or research "Christiana".
