Access Virus value in ten years = £100, Oberheim Matrix 12 value in ten years = £7000. When will the dumb companies learn; virtual analogue aint anywhere close to as good as real analogue? ffs people wake up!!
@Geeljasjes Lucky you for getting to play one! I'll have to check out awave when I'm over there next. 8k sounds about right. There are 2 on ebay at the moment for USD 5k. Exchange rate would be great but taxes would hurt a little. One day ...
LOL. This guy absolutely loves analogue synths! He looks like he's about to shed a tear after playing those luush strings! Awesome synth, but Great keyboard player too.. : )

Very inspired. I don't understand japanese but I do understand music and the Matrix 12 just speaks to my inner soul. I will be picking one up, borrowing it from a friend of mine, in just a few days, so very happy now that I heard these tones. The M12 is just... gosh. I love it.
A beautifully designed synth, let down only by the quality of the oscillators and the sluggish envelopes - that thing is dying to have a sharp attack and a plucky decay. It's like seeing the gates of heaven and noticing that they're made of fiberglass in the Disney style.
Same goes for the Prophet-600 - another great sounding synth that cut one corner too many. Sigh.
Ah, the 1984 monster box. I've only had a go of this once, luckily. I was baffled by the thing, I thought I was piloting an aircraft rather than playing a synthesizer, but as soon as I got past the immense awkwardness I fell in love with this machine, its sounds are gorgeous indeed. Then I saw it's price, which wasn't gorgeous, and automatically stopped me from buying one.
I haven't seen the first video of a Oberheim Matrix 12 doing something better than a cheap Casiotone. If you find one let me know. So many filters and routing and buzz and I haven't hear or see anything actually. No one can program that stuff looks like.
Perhaps they can get permission to use this video clip for the Japanese distribution of the new SEM. Maybe the distributor can enlist Oberheim San to make a video for them. He has that enthusiasm.
Ah nakarnotiko ni oberheim, stok a harino jumiko. Weng a huki oberheim harino stok jeh quarko. Do konoko udo ni hoprokimo. Roland Jupiter stok a harino ni stylophone.
If you were able to A/B them live, I think you would see that there is no comparison. I own them both and it is like fire and ice. Oberheim is vastly superior in sound.
hum those Vintage analogue stuff as always a Nirvana of sound ^^ it's very difficult to find the same sound on new Japaneses or swedish synths, maybe Doepfer , Dave smith or Moog continue to make real polyphonic analogue synth.
They never really had one. Memorymoog... reliability disaster, not designed by Moog. Opus 3, meh... string synth, not designed by Moog, and kind of boring. Polymomog, major reliability nightmare, designed by Dave Luce NOT Moog, almost a home organ.
It would be cool for them to design something new that was polyphonic, but chances are it would be a polyphonic Little Phatty at best.
you're totally right. I replied to a thread somewhere about what Moog could do for a polysynth. I suggested two versions for two price-points. The first would be a Poly version of a Minimoog (like the Memorymoog), but in order to keep the prices in the Andromeda range, they could offer a base 8-voice model with two 8 voice expansions for up to 24 voices, with a 5 octave keybed. The second would follow the Phatty line, also with an 8 voice expansion, totalling 16 voices, and a 4 octave board.
@Rocinante01 I don't think so,Bob is gone, his company is owned by people outside his family, their just sitting on the "Moog" name.they are not going to Evolve the "Moog" synthesizer, there is No economic incentive for them to do so.
