  • Katsunori UJIIIE: YOU ARE AMAZING!!! I AM YOUR FAN !!!! :)

    CHEERS FROM ARGENTINA!

  • 240p, we meet again

  • man.. he's the coolest guy ever.

  • Interesting: I don't speak a word of Japanese (well, I know a couple words), yet I know EXACTLY what he's saying! :-) Domo arigato, Ujiie-san!

  • Imagine having a dad like this guy....so cool and all he's video's too, trying not laugh and cry at the same time,he's got music inside of him and those strings.....I want my mummy......lol ...

  • I love to watch your videos - is there a possibility to do some of them in english :-)

  • @koedief You can press the closed captions (cc) button on the right bottom of the video and select translate captions ;-)

  • There's one for sale in my country. I'd sell my testicles for it.

  • The sound of this synth is scary. Perhaps the best poly ever.

    C.

  • EVH

  • Access Virus value in ten years = £100, Oberheim Matrix 12 value in ten years = £7000. When will the dumb companies learn; virtual analogue aint anywhere close to as good as real analogue? ffs people wake up!!

  • I love this guy's enthusiasm and passion for synths! I don't speak Japanese, but you can tell he loves the Oberheim sound!

  • I played this synth yesterday at a shop in Melbourne.

I was completely blown away by it.

  • @Geeljasjes Which shop and how much did they want for it?

  • @neonlightsmike

    Awave.

Have no idea how much, but I'm guessing it's going to be over 8-grand (australian).

  • @Geeljasjes Lucky you for getting to play one! I'll have to check out awave when I'm over there next. 8k sounds about right. There are 2 on ebay at the moment for USD 5k. Exchange rate would be great but taxes would hurt a little. One day ...

  • OBAHAIMU MATORIKUSU JYUUNI

  • LOL. This guy absolutely loves analogue synths! He looks like he's about to shed a tear after playing those luush strings! Awesome synth, but Great keyboard player too.. : )

  • @1881Gordon wow. I actually did shed a tear. my god, those strings

  • Very inspired. I don't understand japanese but I do understand music and the Matrix 12 just speaks to my inner soul. I will be picking one up, borrowing it from a friend of mine, in just a few days, so very happy now that I heard these tones. The M12 is just... gosh. I love it.

  • I love this guy!

  • Awesome in any language.

  • You have mad skills my friend... Awesome!!!!!!!

  • Great help with the CC Captions Katsu!

  • A beautifully designed synth, let down only by the quality of the oscillators and the sluggish envelopes - that thing is dying to have a sharp attack and a plucky decay. It's like seeing the gates of heaven and noticing that they're made of fiberglass in the Disney style.

Same goes for the Prophet-600 - another great sounding synth that cut one corner too many. Sigh.

If only there were mods to get around this.

  • Man... Dat sound.

  • Excellent demonstration, this guy is the right one for the job.

  • Little bit of Isao Tomita and Yellow Magic Orchestra flavor. great upload

    D...:)

  • Too short - keep playing! I love this guys videos. His language is universal :)

  • please do some dark stuff - Pads and Basslines - everytime jazzy and poppy - cannot hear it anymore ;)

  • Funny he tries to do the 'Rosanna' solo @ 3:12, but fails

  • I want one ;-)

  • That is the best demo of any synth on YouTube

  • Ah, the 1984 monster box. I've only had a go of this once, luckily. I was baffled by the thing, I thought I was piloting an aircraft rather than playing a synthesizer, but as soon as I got past the immense awkwardness I fell in love with this machine, its sounds are gorgeous indeed. Then I saw it's price, which wasn't gorgeous, and automatically stopped me from buying one.

  • id like to mtjp with his band.

  • 欲しくなってきました。

    ファイブGに予しようかなー。

  • super lush

  • I haven't seen the first video of a Oberheim Matrix 12 doing something better than a cheap Casiotone. If you find one let me know. So many filters and routing and buzz and I haven't hear or see anything actually. No one can program that stuff looks like.

  • That first big pad sound he plays is fantastic. The Obie's have always been my favourite family of synths from that era.

  • Now thats a sound and the guy shows how to play a synth like that with respect!

  • i think this is the only synth i would like to have besides my alesis andromeda ..

  • Perhaps they can get permission to use this video clip for the Japanese distribution of the new SEM. Maybe the distributor can enlist Oberheim San to make a video for them. He has that enthusiasm.

  • i want one hella bad

  • He seems to have a genuine reverence for the instrument.

  • so cool to see how enthusiastic he is about the synth ...

  • @MarcS4R

    It's a great synth :)

The Prophet 5 video is good too...

  • 'JUMP' patch, was that OBX or matrix 12?

  • OBXA

  • from now on I'm gonna call this japanese gentleman Mr. Oberheim... or Oberheim-san

  • i so wanted one of these when it came out...... SO EXPENSIVE............Jupiter 8's were amost 8 grand back when.

Nice filters for the 80s or was it 70s

  • 80's I belive....

  • Ah nakarnotiko ni oberheim, stok a harino jumiko. Weng a huki oberheim harino stok jeh quarko. Do konoko udo ni hoprokimo. Roland Jupiter stok a harino ni stylophone.

  • That is not the most you can get out of it but you sold it to me any way. Even I rather a Virus TI I believe.

  • If you were able to A/B them live, I think you would see that there is no comparison. I own them both and it is like fire and ice. Oberheim is vastly superior in sound.

  • It's always a pleasure to watch someone who really loves the instrument he/she is playing. Thanks so much for the this very nice clip.

  • Excelent!!!!! Good Demo and Playing, PLEASE more of Matrix 12 !!! Porfavor!!!!

  • excellent, dude

  • Woa. Damn.

  • so nice playing my friend, is so sad that i dont understand what you are saying but well the music is universal and thats enough

  • More More More Pleeaaaseee !!!!

  • hum those Vintage analogue stuff as always a Nirvana of sound ^^ it's very difficult to find the same sound on new Japaneses or swedish synths, maybe Doepfer , Dave smith or Moog continue to make real polyphonic analogue synth.

  • Moog really needs to develop a new polysynth powerhouse.

  • They never really had one. Memorymoog... reliability disaster, not designed by Moog. Opus 3, meh... string synth, not designed by Moog, and kind of boring. Polymomog, major reliability nightmare, designed by Dave Luce NOT Moog, almost a home organ.

It would be cool for them to design something new that was polyphonic, but chances are it would be a polyphonic Little Phatty at best.

  • you're totally right. I replied to a thread somewhere about what Moog could do for a polysynth. I suggested two versions for two price-points. The first would be a Poly version of a Minimoog (like the Memorymoog), but in order to keep the prices in the Andromeda range, they could offer a base 8-voice model with two 8 voice expansions for up to 24 voices, with a 5 octave keybed. The second would follow the Phatty line, also with an 8 voice expansion, totalling 16 voices, and a 4 octave board.

  • @theoriginalmrsm I'm cool with that; the Little Phatty is an excellent synth.

  • Comment removed

  • @Rocinante01 they will remake the memory moog soon enough.

  • @Rocinante01 I don't think so,Bob is gone, his company is owned by people outside his family, their just sitting on the "Moog" name.they are not going to Evolve the "Moog" synthesizer, there is No economic incentive for them to do so.

  • @Rocinante01 When they can sell monosynths for 4000 euros succesfully its really not worth it for them.
