@EVILEMPIRE951 True, but Pacquiao hits MUCH harder than Taylor. Then again at Jr. Welter, Chavez was less effective. I think that at Jr. Welter, Pacquiao would out point Chavez easily. At any weight lighter, I think Chavez woulda' beat Pacquiao but in a helluva fight.
@fearthenoise according to people, there were some people (some say edwin rosario) who didnt like chavez very much and they decided to turn to "brujeria" (witchcraft) to harm chavez, chavez visited a man who cured people from "brujeria" and was given a "cured" (blessed) red silk "liston" (the RED band on his head) to ward off such attacks and was told to wear it before stepping into the ring. he had his whole team wear one for protection.... it was also mentioned on an interview with chavez....

I'm my honest opinion, Chavez vs Pac would be a great fight. My prediction is Chavez by 10th round knockout. Pac is faster than Chavez but I think he just couldn't stand chavez' pressure. Also, let's not forget that up until he was over 30 and ringworn, he was basically unbeatable. Pac is a great fighter as well. But can anyone really see Chavez going life-or-death vs marquez, or losing to Marquez like mist observers think?or do you see Chavez being knocked out by a torrecampo type fighter, or
@almaperro I think that fight would really depend on the weight at which they fought.I think Pacquiao could beat Chavez at Jr. Welter(no doubt)but would have a difficult time with him at any weight limit lower. At Lightweight? Pick em', that's a great fight.
If you notice the way chavez fought, he didn't take big punches because he was always smothering and pushing his opponents back with his head and body. One of the decades dirtiest fighters.
hey, bteniswood, doesnt make any sence to compare the kind of boxing we see these days and the boxing 15 or 20 years ago. its clear to me that there is no way we r gonna find the tipe of fighters we had back in the days, so, they were a diferent tipe of athletes, they werent no bedettes just trying to look god on the ring, and also, there were real champs, couse there was only one champ per weight, not like the superchampions, the champions and the continental champions of these days.
With all due respect and no offense to Puerto Ricans, but everytime a Puerto Rican, or other Latin American boxer has ran his mouth about Mexicans talkin bout they can beat em all, A Mexican boxer tears them up bad. Salvador Sanchez tore Wilfredo Gomez up, Julio Cesar Chavez gave Rosario a beating, Chavez whooped Camacho. Oscar De La Hoya straight murdered Ricardo Mayorga . Need I saw more?
@josexivuqueer First of all thats not true. Mexicans use to be the cream of the crop until the Ricans came. You've mention the great salvador sanchez, which is by far the best Mexicans fighter of all time, against the great Wilfredo Gomez. What you have failed to mention is that the fight was fought at 126lbs because Sanchez refused to come down to 122lbs. Next, how many mexicans did it finally take to beat Wilfredo Gomez. Gomez murdered zarate. Destroyed limon. Lopez. Davila.Perez.Rubaldino.con
don't hate vato. I'm mexican american, and if you have ever been to Puerto Rico, it is a beautiful island and they treat mexicans and chicanos like familia !
@josexivuqueer Correction he didn't fight limon. I ment pintor. And gonzalez. Next you mentioned the dirtiest fighter of all time, chavez. That fight with rosario was disgusting. @MrRedskins0021 Yeah plus he's a dope head..Mayweather will whip his ass and probably Mosley would also..This 80s version of Chavez would have went through Paq like a wrecking ball...
@JcLazy1 did you know that Chapo Rosario has been the best Puerto Rican Boxer in history defending his title 17 times wining by K.O better than cotto and tito trinidad. If you search, you'll see that there are so many big names of that moment.
@rafatorres77 Wilfred Benitez, Carlos Ortiz, Trinidad, Camacho > Rosario and there's plenty more that are greater then him from Rico, just pointing out the obvious ones.
@Christofides1 now you have an aswer. : José Luis Ramírez, Rafael Limón, Rocky Lockridge, Meldrick Taylor, Roger Mayweather, Lonnie Smith, Sammy Fuentes, Héctor "Macho" Camacho, Juan Laporte, Edwin Rosario, Greg Haugen, Tony López, Giovanni Parisi, Joey Gamache. and he has records, like 39 world title fights. 29 timesm defended titles winning by ko 21 times.

@MrRedskins0021 I can understand ur taking offense at ppl comparing them (I too am a big Chavez fan) but when you compare them both bro, Pacquiao would actually win in a decision, or late stoppage. Pacman is just way to quick and skilled for Chavez. (It's not easy to say this either). Yeah he had trouble with marquez and moralez but don't 4get he was still coming up and he beat em both twice. Chavez beat lots of fighters in their prime but he also lost 2 other fighters in their prime.
@josexivuqueer He beat Morales once and lost to Marquez both times but since he brings in more money they gave him the nod. Chavez wouldve took his best and MURDERED Pac-man
@f3dor1 Actually he beat Morales 2wice and he beat Marquez. Although one fight may have been a draw but in the end Pacquiao got it. I doubt Chavez woulda beat him. He was 2 slow. Pacquiao woulda won a decision.
@MrRedskins0021 Even though some of the decisions went Chavez way. He obviously lost to Meldrick Taylor. He obviously lost 2 Randall twice even tho one decision went Chavez way. He lost against Pernell Whittaker even though it was a "tie". Those 3 are people I see Pacquiao as having a better chance to beat then Chavez. Don't 4get he beat Cotto, and Hatton in their primes as well. Like I said I'm a Huge Chavez fan but when you look at them closely, Pacquiao would've beat Chavez.
@MrRedskins0021 I wouldn't get too concerned. He's also getting compared to Ray Robinson, Henry Armstrong, Roberto Duran, and other top ten ATG's by these crazies. According to them, he would beat Ray Leonard, Tommy Hearns, and everyone else....Hell, he would beat Ali, and Mike Tyson at the same time supposedly. Crazy bastards.
@MrRedskins0021 Who did chavez fought in their prime? Pacman destroyed morales, made him quit on his knees. Made DLH quit on his stool. Just like how chavez quit against dlh. Pacman is knowned as the "mexican killer" for a reason. You cant compare chavez's opposition with Pacmans.
@MrRedskins0021 they compare him to chavez cuz hes the best right now..i agree chavez would prolly beat pacman but its not absurb to mention both of these guys
@aschindler22 I think it's totally justified as well! and actually IMHO; Pacquiao could of presented some serious problems for Chavez. Julio was highly susceptible & often struggled against fighters that could move.
if you really know chavez please tell him this is one of one my favourite fights. i remember it was shown the following saturday in england on world of sport. both boxers did their very best but julio was a level above. it is sad hat happened to rosario afterwards and i hope julio is doing well. thank you.
Yes, this fight here is one of the greatest demonstrations of pressure fighting against a high-level opponent who hit as hard as anybody. Chavez was a man of steel and should be regarded as one of the top 5 lightweights of all time, maybe top 2 w/Duran being No. 1.
Re: Chavez vs. Pacquiao, JCC was a far more sophisticated and intelligent fighter than Manny. On the other hand, he wasn't all 'roided out like Pacquiao so that counts in Manny's favor. But I think Chavez would wear him out and kayo him in the late rounds or win by decision. It would've been a very entertaining fight, that's for sure. What do you think?
I agree.Chavez would have pressured Manny and broke him down to the body and head.Chavez would have stopped him and at the point tat it occurs Manny would be busted up.
I think you nailed it there. Rosario was a one punch ko artist and Chavez just took everything with no visible effect and beat the poor guy to a pulp. Awesome display of bodypunching pressure fighting!
Chavez had an iron jaw and demonstrated it here because Rosario could really punch. But Chavez also demonstrated excellent defense throughout the fight. But when you pressure-fight, you're gonna take some shots; and Julio could take 'em and deliver 'em right back in spades.
my family is good friends with chavez....especially back in these days ..the man use tell us stories about his fights. he told us that when him a rosario touch gloves during the refs instructions, rosario ask him " if he brought his box" chavez was like "box ?? what box??" rosario responded by saying " the box am going to send you back to mexico" haha funny shit. but this made chavez mad, thats why he fought him with rage...this was the best chavez ever in this fight !!!!
Styles do make fights I guess my point is Chavez certainly was not afraid of Nelson. It is certainly too bad they never met in the ring. I do believe Chavez would've beat him by no means dominated Nelson. Only Whitaker could do that. I've watched the fight between Chavez & Lockridge & too me it is over-hyped bs about Lockridge winning. It has been a while since I seen the fight, but I thought Chavez won. I was expecting it to mirror the Whitaker fight, where Chavez was dominated from 4 to 12.
i know one thing rosario was not in shape he trained 9 days for this fight rumors he was on a 6 week cocaine run don king threw 2 million at him so he took the fight if you watch the bramble fight he was moving and shape in this fight he stands flat footed and has no power on his punches rhis fight was a set up for chavez fuck don king
as with every other opponent Chavez has, there is always an excuse as to why lost. Rosario looked to be in pretty good shape here. Maybe Rosario chose to fight Chavez the way he did. He believed in his power too much. Think about it, he had Chavez coming right to him and he figured he would be able to hurt Chavez.
His team claimed the went to Venezuela to train, to get away from the hype of the fight and public pressure in Puerto Rico. Im not sure what they were doing once in Chavez's (HUGO!) country, but that's what was said..
iam not saying rosario wins the fight iam just putting out facts he WAS ON a 6 week cocaine run and only trained 9 days sanchez was a great fighter. gil clancy said if sanchez does not get killed you never here of chavez, chavez was good but not great he barley beat rocky lockridge lost both fights to frankie randell and sweat pea schooled him and he never fought a. nelson
Gil Clancy is a complete moron.Lets not forget that A Nelson barely got by Mario Martinez in their 1st fight and I believe was dropped by Martinez in the second fight.Chavez destroyed Martinez w/ez..Chavez's first fight with Randell was as close as they come, had it not been for low blows Chavez would've won.Randell got as good as he gave, go back and watch the fight.Chavez was also faded by the time he fought Randell. Now the 2nd fight Chavez should've been declared a tko loser because he quit!
So he made it to 90 and 0 with NO DRAWS never winning fair and square? How about Meldrick Taylor? Dude, you obviously have a bias toward Chavez. That, and you must have some other thing that prevents you to see things more objectively. Was Hector Camacho not "fair and square?" Or Greg Haugen? Gimme a break!
Oh ok, I get it. Well, the people who say that are idiots. In many cases, they just say it because he isn't from the states. Plus, people are just mad at the fact that he wasn't a "charismatic" champion, one who didn't talk his ass off. He did his talking with his fist.
Guys, chavez is one of the top fighters of all time and one of my all time favorites as well.
My words above are all the ones that I have heard about this great fighter for the last 15 years. I know he is great and I shouldn't let it bother me, but it does because this guy was/is such a special fighter to me.
Yeah, it bugs me too when people talk shit about Chavez. I shouldn't let it bother me because everyone has a right to their opinion but some of the stuff posted on youtube is just moronic. Chavez was a fantastic fighter, an all-timer, and deserves his due. And you're also right about the Lockridge fight. Chavez won it going away.
I'm pretty sure that your original reply was to one of my post about Chavez where I was being sarcastic, who's the retard?
Generally I think people who run around calling people names, are a bit mentally challenged or at least emotionally challenged due to the lack of something, most likely something physical. There are options though, prozac has been shown to work wonders or in your case perhaps assisted suicide is a more plausible solution.
Not trying to keep it cool.I simply state that I think Chavez is a great fighter, IMHO.If I'm a "boxing retard" for saying that, you're the one with the problem. Now, for the last 15 years I have heard over & over how Chavez was such an overrated fighter & every fight that he has won, lots a people tend to make excuses that his opponents were on drugs, over trained or something. Or in the some cases, chavez vs Laporte or Lockridge, it was highway robbery for chavez to win. I was being sarcastic
@sinusbradycardia dont know what the hell we're arguing about.I think chavez is the greatest mexican fighter ever,I thought you thought i was calling YOU a retard because you were.Whoever i called a retard i reply directly to them
AND STILL WAITING FOR THE NEXT JCCHAVEZ-SALSANCHEZ-FLOPEZ,,,,THE BEST MEXICAN FIGHTERS OF ALLLLL TIME.......

if you really know chavez please tell him this is one of one my favourite fights. i remember it was shown the following saturday in england on world of sport. both boxers did their very best but julio was a level above. it is sad hat happened to rosario afterwards and i hope julio is doing well. thank you.
foxydn4 2 years ago 8
Yes, this fight here is one of the greatest demonstrations of pressure fighting against a high-level opponent who hit as hard as anybody. Chavez was a man of steel and should be regarded as one of the top 5 lightweights of all time, maybe top 2 w/Duran being No. 1.

Chavez vs Manny. Who would win and why?
ESSENCEOFEACHTHING 2 years ago
Re: Chavez vs. Pacquiao, JCC was a far more sophisticated and intelligent fighter than Manny. On the other hand, he wasn't all 'roided out like Pacquiao so that counts in Manny's favor. But I think Chavez would wear him out and kayo him in the late rounds or win by decision. It would've been a very entertaining fight, that's for sure. What do you think?
Kedbuka 2 years ago
I agree.Chavez would have pressured Manny and broke him down to the body and head.Chavez would have stopped him and at the point tat it occurs Manny would be busted up.
ESSENCEOFEACHTHING 2 years ago
indeed, Chavez and Duran puches when landed were aimed at breaking bones. Hard punches.
nalcow 2 years ago 3
I think you nailed it there. Rosario was a one punch ko artist and Chavez just took everything with no visible effect and beat the poor guy to a pulp. Awesome display of bodypunching pressure fighting!
SmackNcrack01 2 years ago 2
Yep! (SmackNcrack01)
Chavez had an iron jaw and demonstrated it here because Rosario could really punch. But Chavez also demonstrated excellent defense throughout the fight. But when you pressure-fight, you're gonna take some shots; and Julio could take 'em and deliver 'em right back in spades.

chavez appears as a boxing comentator for "Azteca Boxing"
a mexican channel. HE sometimes appears drunk on televison comenting on the fights! =)

my family is good friends with chavez....especially back in these days ..the man use tell us stories about his fights. he told us that when him a rosario touch gloves during the refs instructions, rosario ask him " if he brought his box" chavez was like "box ?? what box??" rosario responded by saying " the box am going to send you back to mexico" haha funny shit. but this made chavez mad, thats why he fought him with rage...this was the best chavez ever in this fight !!!!

nelson knocked out martinez in the 2 fight style make fight nelson would have done well againts chavez
3232rams 2 years ago
Styles do make fights I guess my point is Chavez certainly was not afraid of Nelson. It is certainly too bad they never met in the ring. I do believe Chavez would've beat him by no means dominated Nelson. Only Whitaker could do that. I've watched the fight between Chavez & Lockridge & too me it is over-hyped bs about Lockridge winning. It has been a while since I seen the fight, but I thought Chavez won. I was expecting it to mirror the Whitaker fight, where Chavez was dominated from 4 to 12.

dont know about that but this fight is ausome my fav

i know one thing rosario was not in shape he trained 9 days for this fight rumors he was on a 6 week cocaine run don king threw 2 million at him so he took the fight if you watch the bramble fight he was moving and shape in this fight he stands flat footed and has no power on his punches rhis fight was a set up for chavez fuck don king
3232rams 2 years ago
as with every other opponent Chavez has, there is always an excuse as to why lost. Rosario looked to be in pretty good shape here. Maybe Rosario chose to fight Chavez the way he did. He believed in his power too much. Think about it, he had Chavez coming right to him and he figured he would be able to hurt Chavez.
sinusbradycardia 2 years ago
Youre right about one thing: Chapo was overconfident. Not healthy against a guy who was like 55-0 already!
AntonioSantiago 2 years ago
His team claimed the went to Venezuela to train, to get away from the hype of the fight and public pressure in Puerto Rico. Im not sure what they were doing once in Chavez's (HUGO!) country, but that's what was said..
AntonioSantiago 2 years ago
sanchez would have destroyed both of these fuckers!!!
lilbabyface0000 2 years ago
Chavez and Sanchez fought common opponents, ask the opponents who was better.
sinusbradycardia 2 years ago
iam not saying rosario wins the fight iam just putting out facts he WAS ON a 6 week cocaine run and only trained 9 days sanchez was a great fighter. gil clancy said if sanchez does not get killed you never here of chavez, chavez was good but not great he barley beat rocky lockridge lost both fights to frankie randell and sweat pea schooled him and he never fought a. nelson
3232rams 2 years ago
Gil Clancy is a complete moron.Lets not forget that A Nelson barely got by Mario Martinez in their 1st fight and I believe was dropped by Martinez in the second fight.Chavez destroyed Martinez w/ez..Chavez's first fight with Randell was as close as they come, had it not been for low blows Chavez would've won.Randell got as good as he gave, go back and watch the fight.Chavez was also faded by the time he fought Randell. Now the 2nd fight Chavez should've been declared a tko loser because he quit!

LIke I said, chavez never won a single fight fair and sqaure or his opponents were injuried, overtrained, on drugs.
sinusbradycardia 2 years ago
So he made it to 90 and 0 with NO DRAWS never winning fair and square? How about Meldrick Taylor? Dude, you obviously have a bias toward Chavez. That, and you must have some other thing that prevents you to see things more objectively. Was Hector Camacho not "fair and square?" Or Greg Haugen? Gimme a break!

Brother, I love Chavez. That's what I have heard for the last 15 years about the guy and it's sickening!
sinusbradycardia 2 years ago
Oh ok, I get it. Well, the people who say that are idiots. In many cases, they just say it because he isn't from the states. Plus, people are just mad at the fact that he wasn't a "charismatic" champion, one who didn't talk his ass off. He did his talking with his fist.
milkman4eva 2 years ago
Yes he did! It was never more evident than in his fight with Rosario.
sinusbradycardia 2 years ago
Guys, chavez is one of the top fighters of all time and one of my all time favorites as well.
My words above are all the ones that I have heard about this great fighter for the last 15 years. I know he is great and I shouldn't let it bother me, but it does because this guy was/is such a special fighter to me.
sinusbradycardia 2 years ago
Yeah, it bugs me too when people talk shit about Chavez. I shouldn't let it bother me because everyone has a right to their opinion but some of the stuff posted on youtube is just moronic. Chavez was a fantastic fighter, an all-timer, and deserves his due. And you're also right about the Lockridge fight. Chavez won it going away.

I stuck a nerve there, didn't I!
Anyway - FUCK OFF!
sinusbradycardia 2 years ago
yeah, the same nerve every retard in youtube strikes..sure you proud of that
KingRhaul 2 years ago
I'm pretty sure that your original reply was to one of my post about Chavez where I was being sarcastic, who's the retard?
Generally I think people who run around calling people names, are a bit mentally challenged or at least emotionally challenged due to the lack of something, most likely something physical. There are options though, prozac has been shown to work wonders or in your case perhaps assisted suicide is a more plausible solution.
sinusbradycardia 1 year ago
@sinusbradycardia yeah yeah i dont really care about your silly "keeping it cool" reply. go suck a cock
KingRhaul 1 year ago
Not trying to keep it cool.I simply state that I think Chavez is a great fighter, IMHO.If I'm a "boxing retard" for saying that, you're the one with the problem. Now, for the last 15 years I have heard over & over how Chavez was such an overrated fighter & every fight that he has won, lots a people tend to make excuses that his opponents were on drugs, over trained or something. Or in the some cases, chavez vs Laporte or Lockridge, it was highway robbery for chavez to win. I was being sarcastic
sinusbradycardia 1 year ago
@sinusbradycardia dont know what the hell we're arguing about.I think chavez is the greatest mexican fighter ever,I thought you thought i was calling YOU a retard because you were.Whoever i called a retard i reply directly to them
