  • Do ya do ya want to hear this again? I think yes!

  • I really like this...I used to listen to the Ace Frehley version as a kid...But this one's cool too...

  • It's 2011 and I heard this song for the first time the other day in my truck, I turned it up loud and started to do the head bangin thing, I wanted more and wondered why radio stations didn't play it years ago and waited until now, even heard Mr Blue sky for the first time too recently, ELO know how to make my groove move.

  • @MrAnalplunger Yeahp, and people like you are gonna burn in Hell (: So can't wait to see ya there, cause im gonna beat your ass (:

  • @Zappyleaf Have respect for people's taste in music, it's childish to act like you.

  • if u dont like ELO than fuck you

  • 7 people don't want their love

  • ELO ate my homework!

  • 6 people want less cowbell.

  • @patcallow wrong song, dipshit

  • @sweetbrowneyedlady As opposed to what? Quite a bizarrely general statement to make there.

  • Comment removed

  • @sweetbrowneyedlady wtf does that have to do with anything?

  • @sweetbrowneyedlady I'll believe it if I ever hear or read it from Jeff's own mouth.

  • @sweetbrowneyedlady I'll believe it if I hear it from Jeff's own mouth.

  • @sweetbrowneyedlady What makes you think Jeff is bisexual??? Please, do tell!

  • I know probably a thousand bands have done the D A G progression and I know this song is really not much like it, but I can't help but think of the Velvet Underground's Sweet Jane when I hear this song.

  • Awesome. Gonna go drive the Nova and crank this tune!!

  • MORE COWBELL!!

  • Jeff Lynne and the guys hit #24 in Billboard, 4-2-77. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • @Helovesdogs He goes up a couple of the strings with a guitar pick.

  • I’ve just published a novel called The Mission of the Sacred heart, based on a classic ELO album, filled with secret messages for ELO fans. Available on Amazon!

  • HOT SONG!!!!! They are so talented. I have all of their albums. Never got to see them in concert. Damn the luck--------Do ya Do ya want my mind, love

  • Justin Bieber is Awesome!!!

    NOT!!!!!

  • Ace Frehley does a better version of this song. check it out

  • @owlman1963 I'm sure it's good, but the original is ALWAYS better. Why? Because they WROTE it!!!

  • @Roggiedodgie, Yeah but there are a few covers that I think dominate the original.

  • @Roggiedodgie not suhc a smart comment...look at all along the watchtower Dylan even admitted Jimis version is better

  • I've never heard of ELO before this, that's a problem!

  • @Chaoskeeper96 yes it is. go listen to ELO's "Twilight" and make amends for your sins :) ;)

  • @tachikoma747 I would recommend the entire "Time" album, not just "twilight"; but youu're spot on. Those who aren't accustomed to ELO's music will be blown away by the brilliance of Jeff Lynne and his band. Sadly, however, with Kelly Groucutt's passing their sound will never be duplicated, even by them, if that makes sense.I believe " Time" is the best ever concept album,

  • such a cool intro!!!

  • He ROCKS!

  • Great song by a great group!!!!

  • I SAW EM IN 1974 THERE JUST AS GOOD NOW FUCKIN BANGIN GROUP THEY DONT MAKE EM LIKE THIS NO MORE SADLY

  • I was always curious about the name of this song and who sang it, because I heard it used as jingle for Monster.com and 40-Year old Virgin back in 2005

  • ELO FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • THIS IS JUST GOOD SOLID ROCK N ROLL GUITAR PLAYING AWESOME

  • I've probably thanked you before 4 posting this, but "here's 2 YOU" for this! Thanx! Brenda

  • LOVE this song!! I'm overwhelmed by memories of the 70s. The song loses something in the weird bridge and ending but it doesn't matter, the rest of it is so much fun and busting loose with emotion and energy. ELO and my grade school and Jr High years, YES! Thanks for posting!

  • Fffff that ostinato that starts at 1:54 (and 2:09)

Why do I love it so much? D:

  • It doesnt get more underrated than this... this is perfection in under 4 minutes

  • When you watch the live versions, they never have slide guitar, why was that? That's what made the song so frickin cool.

  • @82pjs do you not hear the slide guitar playing??

  • @chickloverforever haha this is not a live version

  • Comment removed

  • @chickloverforever I'm gonna leave you to figure this out on your own. Hint: review 82pjs' original comment and your reply.

  • say what you will but to me... ELO is fuckin' badass

  • "A New World Record"is excellence

  • I love you girl! We have to lose the strain....

  • i want to dedicate this to someone spacial out there she knows who she is

  • Yes babe, I DO want your love!!!

I instantly fell in love with this song and ELO the first time I heard this!!!

This is my absolute favorite song!!! :D

  • @MavvyBurkito Twist and Shout was originally done by The Isley Brothers, you dolt. The Beatles "stole" it from them.

  • @dbkparm Yeah, that's probably where Eddie Murphy got the idea to play a musician named "Clarence" on a SNL skit claiming to be the the fifth Beatle. He claimed John and Paul felt threatened by his abilities, and stole his music! LOL! Seriously, Jeff was quoted by John Lennon to have been talented enough to be a Beatle. Much of the Beatles' influences can be found in ELO music.

  • it just gets stuck in your head, and that's a good thing

  • TOP TUNEEEEEEEEEEE

  • TOP TUNEEEEEE THEY DONT MAKE EM LIKE THIS ANYMORE

  • THIS IS THE ONLY VERSION OF THE SONG THAT SHOULD MATTER ITS TRUE ELO AND IT KIX EVEN IN THIS DAY OF GADGETS IT STILL HOLDS ITS OWN AS A RECORD OR CD

  • RUNDGREN DOES IT BETTER

  • Don't get the newspaper thing...

  • sl23 let me know if u r still there...

  • 7 people need to get bitch-slaped.

  • @savage495

    8..you forgot yourself.

  • @theplanetking nope just you. you're not worthy of a full punch.

  • @savage495

    Wow..so lame.

  • @theplanetking grow up troll.

  • @savage495

Even lamer, " Do Ya " have a sense of humour or did you have a bypass?

  • this song is SOOOOOOOOOOOO good

it's true - 19 year olds can appreciate good music

  • This song is proof that 7 people have bad taste. Rock on ELO!

  • RIP Mike Edwards

  • @SleepyJukebox Wasn't Mike Electric Light Orchestra's original cellist, originally from the London Symphony Orchestra? And how did he die?

  • @headphone355

One of those huge over one thousand lb. round hay bales rolled down a hill and hit his van.

  • I saw this concert in MSG the year of the album release. There was nothing like it in sound at the time. It just...blew us away....

  • But iiiii'vveee never seen nothin like you

  • My mom was rocking out to this song in the car yesterday. Now I can't get it out of my head! xD

  • i love boobies

  • God is alive and well, look deeper

  • Do ya do ya want my love?

    Yes, I really do.

  • I always thought of The Sweet and ELO as very similar style groups.

  • @rare12inchsingles The Sweet... You mean grouup which gave us a GREAT tune like, "Love is like Oxygen"? I believe they were fronted by another brilliant musician and songwriter, Upper Darby Pennsylvania's own... Todd Rundgren!!! Sounds kinda like ELO's style, although Jeff Lynne is from "across the pond".

  • @scubarulz The Sweet and ELO were both from my side of the pond. Brian Connolly was the lead singer, check out Blockbuster, another addictive tune!

  • @quarkwrok Yeah, sorry about that. I did further research and I was wrong. Todd Rundgren wasn't associated with The Sweet in any way I guess. Thanks for the suggestion on "Blockbuster", great song!! Btw.... think Jeff Lynne will ever bring ELO back, now that Kelly G. has passed away?

  • @scubarulz Would it ever be the same? It was different way back when. Was Kelly G the one who died in a freak accident? Something to do with a run away bail of hay? o_0

  • @quarkwrok No, Kelly Groucutt was ELO's bass player during their greatest days., died of a heart attack 2 years ago at 63 years young. He played bass for them from '71 to '83, and his operatic voice was used on many of their hits. The band member who was killed last year in a freak accident was Mike Edwards, a cello player who briefly played with ELO in early to mid '70s, most notably on the "Eldorado" album. His obit. states his van was indeed hit by a cylindrical hay bale weighing 1300 pounds.

  • @scubarulz Kelly was the bassist from '74 - '83. Mike DeAlbequerque was the bassist from '73 -'74. Richard Tandy started out in ELO as the bassist in '72 playing live, but was switched exclusively to keys/piano when ELO set out to record ELO II in '73.

  • @scubarulz .... similar thing happened on ohio turnpike last winter ..... an SUV spare tire fell off .... rolled across grassy median ... flew in air .... landed on hood of car going opposite way and crushed the driver ....... showed the SUV leaving turnpike but didn't have picture of license plate ..... it was an accident and he wouldn't have been cited ... but evidentally didn't want to get involved .... probably in denial!

  • hate to repeat myself, but they really don't make music like this anymore

how blessed we are to know this song

you youngsters can have all the lady gaga you want

  • @siti1ca i guess i am kindof a 'youngster' and i totaly agree with you about how nodody makes music like this anymore... i realy hate the music from 2010...

  • @101playmakers Its not all the artists of 2010's fault, its the record companies, and you can't even blame them, its society, artists like this exist, but record companies won't sponser them because they won't make any money off of them.

  • what?!?!?!?!?! why?????? why the hell did i just found out that ELO sang this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA FOREVER!!!! summer fun!

  • @ev0ra5 i was listeing to my records last night, and the same thing happened to me lol. a friend told me that if ELO had come out before the Beatles, they would have been just as popular.

  • what?!?!?!..why???? why the hell did i just found out now that ELO sang this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh Electric Light Orchestra forever!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This song ... how do I say it ... ROCKS ITS ASS OFF!

  • Phenomenal talent! :-)

  • this song was originally done by roy woods wizard in 1972

  • @kz5757 Roy Wood had a band called The Move, which Jeff Lynne eventually joined. Jeff wrote this song, and The Move originally recorded it. Jeff and Roy later formed Electric Light Orchestra together with other members of The Move. After Roy quit ELO, he formed Wizzard.

  • @GPhoenixMan

Saw the Move's original rendition of "Do Ya" while in England in 1972, Couldn't understand why they were not big in the US.

  • @lostin67 Because they were hicks and one of the

Move's bandmen was a serial murder.

But from what I understand they now are security

officers for Hillary Clinton. They watch to make

sure she doesn't get to funky when she dances

and forbidding her that evening ice cream.

Have you ever heard of "Thunder Thighs" that

was a song they wrote for her.

  • @fntime ...I can't tell if you're joking, trolling, or just plain insane in the membrane @_@

  • @TackyRackyComixNEO Robots never

    can figure anything out.

How about you read some comic

books, then you will find the answer

that is suited for your mind.

And stop acting like a racist,

    being a teenage girl, doesn't

give you license to spit on other

    people's heritage!

  • @fntime Okay, you're trolling. Gotcha. Thanks!! ^_^

  • @TackyRackyComixNEO Thanks, I'm trolling and you're, learning the lesson, that you are a lower form of intelligence. Having a 'comic book' intelligence doesn't make you a bad person! You are just very unintelligent, but not evil. Have you ever read a book? Comic books don't count. Have you ever performed on the TV show, "I'm Stupid, But I'm Not Constipated"
  • @fntime No, but I have eaten fried shrimp while on a date with a woman whose mother was a crab.

  • @TackyRackyComixNEO Of course, that's why you

are a loser. Does mom still do your laundry?

You are a joke, even within your own family.

"Now go home and get your shine box"!

  • @fntime No, that's not why I'm a loser. There's plenty of other actually legitimate reasons why I'm a loser.

  • @TackyRackyComixNEO even Brad Pitt, thinks

you are a shmuck. Tacky, if I kill you with my

bear hands, will you forgive me?

Tacky, have you ever killed a man?

Tacky, are you willing to be killed to prove

    a point?

Did you kill your parents, like you killed

    your 'life mate'?

Would you like me to kill you?

  • @fntime Okay, you're getting boring now. Good night.

  • @fntime If you kill someone with bear hands, you make Colbert's ThreatDown...

  • teslagirl, can i show you the loft of the barn where there is some really soft straw..?

  • @dictionar1 straw with no mice or rats in it?

  • @teslagirl1 put your soft hand in mine. i cleaned it just for us. : )

  • @dictionar1 You bring the ELO, I'll bring some Murphy's Stout.

  • whats a cowbell??? besides on an actual cow?? where is it used in the song?? can somebody please point it outt to me??? =D

  • @suppppz It's an actual cowbell, sometimes held in the hand and played with a stick by whichever band member is reliable enough not to bring the cow along. In some bands, that's a pretty short list--sorta explains why some never use cowbell at all. Sometimes, the cowbell is mounted with the drum kit, which thankfully removes the guesswork from the equation. You hear it throughout this song--hit, like a woodblock, not rung. If you hear cowbell ringing, there's probably a cow attached. Run.

  • god dam i love this

  • I think we need a little more cowbell

  • Do i?

    Yes, I do!!!!

  • OMG! I love It!

  • Doesn't ELO music just make you feel good? It's fun, not too deep. It's a breath of fresh air. Thanks to Jeff and the rest of the band.

  • elo is the whip or something, is it just me or do they sound like a female orchestra?

  • gotta have more cowbell baby

  • you had to have been there

  • me favorite

  • One of the high points of the 70s, is the reason they didnt release it because the move had already used it as a b side?.

  • i don't understand how people can not like this
