  • Yeah, the Steelers were a "JOKE", until the 70's!!! Love the classic Unis, especially, the "Burgh"!!!

  • Great vintage Browns! I recall that Ernie Green came to my elementary school for a visit and I got his autograph.

  • Frank Ryan was a very underrated quaterback, I love to watch the old NFL games, notice how lean & quick the players are.

  • Saturday night, October 8, 1966 to be exact.

  • the Browns were good in 1966 and the Steelers were bad untill the 70's, Dick Hoak is the running back for the steelers in this game.Hoak later became the running backs coach for the steelers and went on to coach franco harris, rocky belier, barry foster and the bus. Hoak has 6 super bowl rings not bad at all.

  • Check out the "Batman-style" uniforms the Pittsburgh Steelers were wearing in 1966!

  • i remember they they gave the cowboys a good a good fight around this time cause i remember the uniforms

  • The best thing then for the Steelers were the Steelerettes.

  • Those Steelers "Batman" jerseys are just hysterically funny!

  • Until 1972 the Steelers didn't even win a playoff game let alone one playoff appearance in the 40's. When Chuck Noll took over the Steelers he was carrying with a franchise which was overall terrible since its establishment in 1933 or so. Impressive since 1969 the Steelers have only used 3 head coaches Noll, Cowher, and Tomlin. I'm a Packers fan and I have much respect for the Steelers.

  • Somehow old film played in slo-motion is just better looking than all this new HD 1080 crap that just does not 'feel' right for football highlights. I love the old highlights. NFL FIlms is king.

  • NFL Films in this era was king. On into the 70's, Steve Sabol got control of things and their stuff became all about storytelling and music, instead of just covering the games and reporting what happened like we see here.

  • @upperslobodia i agree. there is way too much high tech crap in the game these days.

  • @wpruitt30

If it were up to me, there wouldn't be dome stadiums. Spoiled people with no wind. I guess that is an advantage when kicking in windy Cleveland. Our field goal kicker knows how to get it done while someone else's may not be as good.

  • How did you get this film? This is incredible! Of course it's not like this is from the 20's or something but it's still surprising that it has this good of quality and all.

  • No, that's late former sportscaster Ken Coleman, who announced for the Cleveland Browns on the radio during the Jim Brown days... he also announced for the Boston Red Sox, and Patriots...his son is Casey Coleman, longtime sportscaster for WJW-TV in Cleveland, who also of late, who also announced for the Browns on the Radio in the 1990's

  • The Steelers before the glory days.

  • The Steelers were in decline since 1933.

  • @headley62 lol. clever.

  • lol @ 3:45

  • is that don criqui talking

  • It's like both teams switched sides in 1970 and the Browns NFL titles became Steelers record Super Bowl titles.

  • The short-lived Steelers' mustard stain jerseys.

  • Didn't hear much from Steeler fans back then...pretty quiet about their team. Then in the early 70's, let's say around 1972, all of a sudden Steeler fans are coming out of the woodwork. Imagine that.

  • @jln55

You mean fans like winning teams more than losing ones? No way!

  • @sglider Yeah, you are right! Just hop from one winning team to another. Can't have a thing such as loyalty, can we?

  • @jln55 And that's any different from any other fans in any sport?

  • @DnA1322 It's different from Browns fans who still support their team despite years of poor showings. It's called loyalty, pal, ever hear of that?

  • @jln55 yeah it's called being a Pirates fan bud

  • Kinda like them ol' "batman" styled jerseys the Steelers wore back then - you can actually order that style direct from the team. Of course the Steelers really were a joke back in the late 60s before Chuck Noll arrived and cleaned house.

  • @zoomping1 in 1969, Chuck Noll took over the Steelers. They winning the opening day game against the Lions and lose the rest of their games on their schedule.

  • The Steelers were in decline by 1966 and the Browns were still very good

  • @FRSFreeState I am not sure I would use the word "decline." Pittsburgh had never been very good to begin with and would not start their rise until 3 years later - unless you are referring to Pittsburgh's brief period of near contention in the early 1960's.

  • @63kraft

You know your Steelers History, thats exactly what I was talking about. The Buddy Parker years in Pittsburgh.

  • @FRSFreeState The Steelers were in decline since 1933.

  • @FRSFreeState steelers are in decline again, sure they might make the playoffs but they aint going far
