  • Weiner 2012!!!!!

  • Go , Congressman Weiner , GO !

    ONE of AMERICA'S " GREAT SUPER HERO'S "

  • he just bitch slapped the RepubliCUNTs like they were redheaded stepchildren ... OUCH!!!

  • This crap that if you can buy insurance across state lines will bring down costs is a load of crap. You can buy gas across state lines does that bring gas prices down no when exxon goes up so does shell and all the others. They will ban together and continue thier big profitts.

  • Weiner is the only democrat with balls. Single payer would have been the only way to go. Now, we will get a watered down meaningless bill that will do more harm than good

  • Democrats seem to be proud about bankrupting the country. All these great government programs are broke! Why pat yourselves on the back for that? What is going to happen to all those dependent people when the checks don't go out?

  • Spending ~ 2-3 Trillion on illegal wars doesn't bankrupt the nation?

  • Yes, all the spending on these worthless wars has bankrupted the nation. Why add more?

  • Universal health care is a right, not a business proposition. Fear is never on the right side of history. Your cry falls on empty ears, the people are those who challenge the republican politcal ideals. Which is why america is changing. Your business sense, exploited the poor for to long. Your end is coming. And its not about fear of government, it has always been about democracy. And its the lack of republican social interaction which is your demise. Your fear is docile to the rich.

  • how can you say that healthcare is a right? how can you say you have claim on the labor of another person?? don't freak out, I'm not republican, I'm not a Glenn Beck fan, but please explain why you think it is a right....it is immoral to say you have claim on another person's labor or human capital

  • it is so easy for the dems to crack on the repubs because they are just that much worse of people, but both live in a la la land and we the people have to foot the bill for their boneheaded ideas

  • "Why They're Republicans & We're Democrats" like when the democrats in congress opposed the civil rights movement?? haha, he forgot that one. And who the hell would brag about setting up the ponzi scheme known as social security?? everyone is so far from reality, it is really starting to get to me

  • They also forgot that Lincoln was a Republican.

  • Actually Lincoln was in three different parties. He actually left the Republican Party while he was president and joined the National Union Party then he was assasinated. Prior to being in the Republican Party he was in the Whig Party.

  • Weiner--answer me this? How thrilled will you be when people who've hurt nobody else go to jail because they can't afford to buy your corporate-sponsored "healthcare?"

That's a pretty big difference between this and Medicare, don't you think?

  • You go to jail if you don't pay for Medicare. It's called tax evasion.

  • If I'm unemployed, I do not pay those taxes. It's not much of a choice, but there is still some semblance of one.

If I'm an illegal alien, I can still get medical care, but I don't pay the taxes and I just get deported.

If I don't drive, I don't buy auto insurance. If I do drive, it's the state that sets the requirements for insurance, and not the Federal gov't stepping in and dictating what insurance company's pockets I must line.

Bottom line is that it's also unconstitutional.

  • that;s wrong to and counter to the govt claim that they were setting up a private "trust fund". to go along with the social security "trust fund", both of which various adminns and congresses have looted to the tune 0f alomst $80TRILLION DOLLARS.

well hopefully that wont happen again, like they did with the hwy trust fund, ssi and medicare. maybe the public health plan will be run as well as the public schools.

  • Congress specifically exempted itself from the recent reform bill. They get to keep their gold-plated plan that only requires a small pamphlet to understand, but they gave the American people a 2,000 page plan that will give them tin-plated coverage at much higher cost.

This is bait-and-switch. The plan he is holding in his hand is totally different from the plan he is offering Americans who are not members of Congress.

    It's a lie.

  • oh gimme a break...

the plan they have NOW has always different than the avg Americans? Have you been upset this whole time...or just now?

  • Yep, I've been upset over this for years.

But it is also a legitimate objection at this juncture.

It is clearly hypocritical that they want to force everyone else on to this system, but it is not good enough for them.

Let them remove their own objection. Now is the opportunity, while they are considering the bill in the Senate.

  • Maybe the democrats could grow a fucking brain and realize that their very own policies create the problems that americans have in healthcare. The very mandates and overinvolvement in industry (other then safety and environmental policy) ruin OUR consumer strengths of choice. These democrats are so out of touch.

  • un involvement = 400 % price increase over previous 10 years. covered by most insurance , viagra paxil , gastric bypass, sex change, ????? . the govt will do better, sorry brother

  • That is absolutely false. Involvement is the exact reason why healthcare costs are high. The insurance companies cannot sell across state lines and are exempt from anti-trust laws. That is why you have some companies with80-90% market share in one state. You do not know the real situation. the govt causes these problems.

  • Rock on, Weiner! Roll over the RethugliKKKans.

  • Why is he supposed to talk to the chair?

Is he not allowed to say "you" or "republicans"?

Well framed - the bill fairy is paying for an invasion of asia and 800+ bases to span the globe from an out of control military - why does this uber-expense never get trimmed?

  • The House rules doesn't allow speakers to address members. Just like in a courtroom. You have to address the judge. Dipshit. I hope you never need to use Medicare or Social Security.

  • Respecfully sir, i'm for single payer, and i voted for Nader. I merely ask why the absurdity of the rules preventing honest procedure. Your dip.. comment is out of order. Regards,

  • First, I"m not a sir. Voting for Nader gives you absolutely no credibility at all. If you recall Nader said there was no difference between Bush & Gore. I think we've pretty much seen that wasn't true. The absurdity of the rules used to work. Until we got the GOP obstructionists. I watched the House off/on all day yesterday. The GOP was totally out of line. My comment was "out of order"? I think not.

  • Then you deserve what you get you stupid fool. You're financing a genocide in asia no matter what duopoly party you vote for and you probably believe the official conspiracy theory that the world trade center was not attacked by the bush junta to extract a war in asia from you stupid taxpaying wankers. Eat humble pie, you foolish dimwit. I left the country and get single payer here in the UK... because my brain is not made of sawdust.

  • My brain too isn't made of sawdust. Other than that, I couldn't agree w/ you more.

  • agree agree agree inside job ur smart & usa needs insurance reform

  • hehe, weiner

  • God truth hurts!!

The trolls will surely post their illogical threats of gloom and doom on this video, but the fact is....just as Weiner stated.

EVERYTHING in history for the good of the people has been opposed by the repukes, for the good of THEIR lower taxes and corporate interests....EVERYTHING!!

  • Anthony Weiner is a national hero

  • so, when arguments and skewed logic no longer work, the republicans stall and interrupt. What kind of country ever allowed such destructive behavior into our honored halls of Congress?

  • Weiner is the man!

And we're going to do this thing!

  • Yes we are, yes we did in the house (!!!) and we will in the SENATE!!

  • As if you even know what the word means Omar. You teabaggers think that Communism, Socialism, Fascism & Marxism all mean the same thing. (!!) How about discussing clearly why having some rules on insurance company and a medicare for all option (if the individual pays premiums) is a bad thing? How is it worse than today? How is getting what Senators have a bad thing? They love it. And if you say "communism" again, then we know you have no argument so shut up and sit down.

  • I love the title!!

  • And besides, when a regular non-senior gets laid off or is low on money, entitlements like welfare pay only a FRACTION of what SS gives to seniors to sit on their butts and do nothing, all b/c they're retired. Maybe if we reduced the COLAs, there'd be more of an incentive for seniors to save so they could pay their own expenses more.

I mean, millions of people have savings accounts, CDs, and whathaveyou. Why shouldn't we encourage that more? If you start investing early, you'll get a lot.

  • SS's intended purpose may have been noble, but the program is going bankrupt. And besides, too many seniors depend on SS for much of their living rather than saving decades in advance for retirement. They don't think long-term b/c of the SS gov't subsidy. They become dependent.

You know something? We SHOULD privatize SS! There are very few legitimate arguments against doing so. One of the main ones is the volatility of the market. But the market long-term goes up! Crises are rare.

  • If new workers in their teenage or early twenties started investing their payroll taxes into private accounts, they would get a hell of a lot more return long-term than SS. But, unfortunately, we can't do that. We have to rely on the gov't to "save" for us and redistribute it 'fairly', rather than letting me invest as much or as little as I want, like with a REAL savings account, putting savings in my own hands. Why should I be dependent on gov't for retirement? It's ridiculous.

  • You mean give it to Wall St. to "save" for us? Total Genius WHOO/Bush tried that w/ S.S. Thank Gawd he failed otherwise it would be GONE. You like Goldman Sachs redistributing wealth upward huh? They paid less than 1% income tax & they themselves lobbied to get it from 32 to 31% - yet got away with tax dodges that had them paying less than 1%. Can you do that with your money? No. Wall St. redistributes our money - Democrats are taking it back & safeguarding the middle class. Ayn Rand is over.

  • Republicans have opposed as socialism everything from Social Security to Medicare, anything that helps the poor and un-influential. What have they offered? Tax cuts, health savings plans, a plan that only insures 3M more Americans. They're on the wrong side this time. Freedom means freedom from fear. And I ain't afraid of no commies.

  • Social Security might need reform, but I support it's purpose. The idea that 13 million elderly would be under the poverty line without it is more than enough reason to keep it around. Currently though, by 2075 it could put us another $30 Trillion in debt. There's more coming out than going in, and we need to look at that as a society and fix that.

  • Rep. Anthony Weiner.....is a dick....pun intended

moron probably goes better, by he's just a little too stuck-up for that...

    Social Security-Bankrupt

    Medicare & Medicaid- Bankrupt

Government plans only work for government officials because there's only a few that are covered by it, when everyone wants it, you're seriously saying there will be no rationing?

If both of the examples he used are now bankrupt, why should anyone trust this bill... that I'm sure the insurance companies put together..

  • Rep Anthony Weiner is no dick! I like him a lot! Great congressman!

  • I love the burst of applause at the end of Congressman Anthony Weiner's speech and then Congressman David Obey's chuckling when he's reminding the members to address their remarks to the chair. LOL! That was great!

  • Comment removed

  • Soc. Sec. has been spent and replaced with I.O.U.s, Medicare, Medicade, all of it is bankrupt - the worst of them all "The Prescription Drug Benefit" by the Republicans and signed by W. Bush. Weiner boy should remember that many of the aspects of the New Deal were declared Un-Constitutional by the Supreme Court and those statutes and laws were struck down.

They are all corrupt scum sucking sub-human political vomit.

  • Democrats are the party of double-talking backstabbers.

Remember 2006, Rep. Weiner? You guys promised to bring the troops home, and I was rooting for you to take both houses of Congress.

    Damn the Democratic Party.

  • I call them pussies all the time for reasons like this. They let the Republican minority trample on them when they have a majority.

But then you have DEMs like Grayson and Weiner, with back-bone. It kinda brings a little hope that maybe they can get things done. The DEMs need to follow their lead.

  • Not damn the Democratic Party, damn the Republican Party for forcing the Democrats to back down.

The Republicans flood the airwaves with propaganda and lies which confuse the American people, and the Democrats realize they have to back down in order to stay in power. They don't have spines, yes. But they aren't backstabbers, they're just politicians doing what they must to stay in power(and to keep Republicans from winning).

I'd rather a spineless jellyfish, than a talking snake.

  • We ARE PAYING FOR IT NOT MATTER WHAT IDIOT> If you tax me with force or if I pay for it myself.... Either way I'm paying for my social security, my medicare, my health care. And for the record: The previous two are completely broke. Take care of the young and old I am fine with. If you are in between that FEND FOR YOUSELF.

  • Anthony Weiner/Denis Kucinich 2016.

  • @southparkgtaca

This is a socialist, not on your life.

  • I think that is a good ticket, I would vote for them 2 in a heart-beat.

  • Ehhh, I'd throw in grayson somewhere in there, hell, bring him to the white house in a suitcase for all I care, just get him in. :P

  • I thought of that, but then I thought of electability. Kucinich only has a chance as VP in this country. :(

And imagine the attack ads on Grayson. :O Maybe he can get a high level cabinet position, though. :)

  • I love Grayson, but he can't win maybe if the Progressives keep growing then there is a chance, but not right now.

Now i would love to see him as speaker of the house.

    That would be FUN!.

  • Or maybe the house majority leader

  • Nah Grayson and Kucinich sounds better.
