  • What video card do you have? My effects are NOT this fluid and they should be I have a good Radeon card

  • beautiful theme :D

  • so good. but those features are only available on ubuntu lucid lynx. you can't do that on the main version of ubuntu.

  • @robertsonpenaroyo What are you talking about, the main version of Ubuntu always have all the features in there. Lucid Lynx is just the name for the last Ubuntu Distribution, each new one has a new name but also all the features of the previous one. There are no "premium" ubuntu distributions.

  • I think I already answered that question before, i don't know right now, it's from aMusic, will look into my dbase and let you know.

  • I think I already answered that question before, i don't know right now, it's from aMusic, will look into my dbase and let you know.

  • Great video m8... what is the tune what playing on this video ?

  • now go do the same with windows

  • Man, Can you make a Video Showing how to put that configs just like the video?

    (yes ATI readeon 5570 HD)

  • i just got linux ubuntu 10.4 on my mac using parallels. how do i get the spinning screen

  • @wiwinko97 You have to get OpenGL working, check if hardware acceleration is enabled, else you will not see any cube spinning. Then you should install apropiate packages as per our Ubuntu Tutorial, you can find it on our channel, I suggest seeing Part 2 which teach how to install and configure 3D Effects.

  • What kind of PC you have? I mean, processor, video card, ram, etc, and where you filming with a program or with a camera?

  • @ZenKu2014 This has already been answered before and is at the comments, but for keeping updated here it goes: Core i7 920 @ 3.2Ghz with 12Gb DDR3 and a Geforce GTX295, a gamer's machine, the one I use for the reviews at TecnoGaming. This was filmed with a camera and a tripode adjusted in front of the monitor.

  • Cool video!!

  • hey man do u know why i can enable the visual effects on mine,,,, i dont have a Graphics Cards plzz help

  • Wow , verry nice desktop !

  • @toapecur Sorry, didn't read correctly that last one. If you have the latest ATI fglrx drivers for ubuntu and eyefinity is not enabled you are out of luck my friend :(

  • @toapecur Actually, you CAN'T. For eyefinity to work you have to connect AT LEAST one of the monitors to the "DisplayPort" of your videocard. This is a "hardware limitation" not a software issue.

Eyefinity with 3 monitors, either on linux or windows requieres at least 1 DVI + 1 HDMI + 1 DP. You can skip the HDMI and use 2 DVI's but you HAVE to use one of the monitors in the DisplayPort. If you don't have a DisplayPort compatible monitor you have to get the DP to DVI or DP to HDMI converter.

  • which open animation do you use? like either beam up, burn, etc.

i can't find one that looks like yours but i want that one!

  • @assolombardo which is why i switched to linux mint and its better and faster

  • May I know how you managed to record it this smoothly? Also are you using an SSD drive?

  • @Rimdeker Sure thing. :) A video camera in front of the screen, a couple of hours with a tripode adjusting the camera to fit perfectly and with no lights in front. That's the best SSD you could ask for to record a perfect desktop video. ;)

  • @TecnoGaming Truly amazing!! I've only played with Linux for the past year and I amaze myself with what I can do... I'm no techie guy that's for sure. I just can't get over how Windows OS doesn't flop over and die. Brainwashed comes to mind. Linux is worth to me 10 times more than any Windows OS and it's completely free. I JUST don't get it how MS is so rich... whatever. I'm totally Windows free!!!

  • how did you get all those animations? i just got ubuntu because of this video and i dont have any of those animations

  • @Fuzzyscape Just look our Ubuntu 3D Tutorial in our video channel (click on the TecnoGaming user and search for Ubuntu 3D Tutorial) begin with Part 2 Video (part 1 describes how to install ubuntu (which you already did).

  • They are all over the place in my video-channel tecnogaming, look on the comments.

  • Can you tell me the specs of your computer?

  • Very good

  • Can someone tell me how to make Linux my primary OS and win7 my secondary so i can still play my games and stuff?

  • @LeSkoog That's simple, just go ahead and install 7 then put the Ubuntu CD on the drive (with windows) and install inside windows, that's it.

Next time you boot up, the windows selection menu will show "ubuntu" and "windows 7" and you can choose.

  • @LeSkoog Look for Grub

  • What are you running this on?

  • @RCROX5000 config is on the first post on my video channel, core i7 920, 12gb ddr3-1600, geforce gtx295, 64gb ssd.

  • @TecnoGaming DAMN.

  • Nice Video!

    Missing Tabbing and Group Windows.

  • ONE WORD: HOLY FUCKING SHIT

  • @Wurminfektion thanks! I am preparing the next video with new tech.

  • nice emotions

  • I personally feel Arch Linux + Openbox > Ubuntu + Gnome

  • @Askar450 that's ok with me. i hate it when people are complaining ubuntu isn't the right distro. ubuntu is just one of them. it all ends up to 1 fact: windows is hell.

  • Great video! Really shows off the visual effects. Thumbs up.

I hope that your terminal is green text on a black background. Go nostalgia!

  • @TecnoGaming ok gracias!

  • xfce > gnome

  • @omfg4all Are you for real? I do not think so.

  • @TecnoGaming yes i am for real, xfce isn't as supported as gnome true, but it is by far more lightweight. compiz is all shiny and everything but there its only useful purpose is propaganda. xfce has right clickable desktop menus and panels dont get lost if they autohide. panels have gnome-applet containers for gnome compatibility. windows and panel has changeable alpha levels by default without compiz and it has a mouse mascot. no one likes a foot as a mascot.

  • @TecnoGaming I do, too, find gnome sexier than xfce, but I think that's a matter of personal taste.

    Haven't tried KDE yet, though.

  • @omfg4all Uh NO!!

  • @sethalos Uh YES!!

  • como activas los efectos

  • @muerte873 Hay un tutorial detallado en mi canal de videos de TecnoGaming en el playlist llamado "Ubuntu 3D Tutorial".

  • Everything's perfect except that gelatine effect, it's awful and dizzying.

  • Whoa! This is an awesome OS! Hey, does Ubuntu run faster than Microsoft Windows Vista?

  • @GlitchMasterSonic YES!! it runs on just 256 mb ram and a pentium III processor. anything above is better...

  • WOW!!!

  • what setting will I change in 1:40 when it became 3d?

  • How do you make this on 03:35 ?

  • Just goes to show you how much computers are evolving. Take a look at Windows 1.0, for example, everyone thought that was so amazing, lol.

  • that effects are working on my radeo 9600 with 64mb grafiks to

  • NOW! i'm sorry for going with windows. DAMN that's hot effects!

  • windows and mac wish they could do this :)

  • esta re piola amigo, ubuntu es mejor q windows 7????

  • @charlyxd009

no es ni mejor ni peor. mas hacker escriben spyware para windows porque %95 de la poblacion mundial usa windows

  • Goodbye windows you will be forgotten.

  • Such effects are AMAZING! I love this feature of Linux! Sometimes with a good graphics-card it looks like... WOOW!

They definitely should create more of those effects for compiz^^ I would appreciate it.

    ...

    WHO ARE THEY?! xD

  • @Shadowparshath The ARE creating more effects, they should be ready when the new compiz version is out and since it will be around the corner any time, I will be doing another video showing the new effects. Stay Tuned!

  • @Shadowparshath everyone can be "they"

  • mola

  • And I just can't seem to understand why people continue using Windows. Nothing personal, I used to be a Windows user but now I realized this Operating System is way beyond better. Honestly, Ubuntu 10.04 has nothing to envy to any of the releases of Micrsoft Windows. Ubuntu 10.04 rocks and the most important thing...it is being improved every day!!

  • @gitomubuntu I love Ubuntu, but some of the reasons I continue using Windows:

Since I program, I use a lot of VB.NET and C# and MonoDevelop just isn't for me.

I have many EXE's (such as my own) that aren't compatible with Wine or Mono...

I can't get Ubuntu to work own my MacBook, It will only allow Mac OS and Windows.

But someday I wish to move completely to Linux :)

  • @XcomputernerdX I also have a macbook pro and I also have windows installed on it. BUT! I also have Ubuntu (studio) installed on it. Yes it's not that hard actually, just search for mac trippleboot or something like that!

  • @chabbelito yes i have tried that several times, but each time i had to reinstall Windows completely

  • @gitomubuntu

many things have no linux support yet.

  • @theavanger255 Many things like what Windows programs? Honda Civic parts don't fit on Chev Cavalier's or a Ford Taurus's but Honda Civic is still a pretty awesome car. Use whatever OS you wanta use but complaining of compatibility is pretty freakin' lame. If you want to eat at the largest food chain in the world because everyone else is herding there well... you can't complain that your bowel movements are different when you actually eat good food. It's "Different, but Not Less"

  • I know something that Windows has that Linux doesn't........Viruses.

  • @TheWhiteRabbit1990 That's completely right.

  • Comment removed

  • @GamerAndReviewer ... 5 **** comment ! Totally agree, am using Ubuntu 10.04 to post this... I love the fact that it doesn't crash, is always fast, boots up in no time at all, and does every thing its supposed to without the constant interruptions for updates, virus protection out of date, blue screens of death, trojan horses, worms, key loggers and bloody windows key codes to activate shit that you can get for free on here!!! The list goes on... Enjoy your Windows experience !!

  • @GamerAndReviewer really everything? including virusses?

and for the rest, we're working on it. (wine)

  • @nieknooijens Linux doesn't have viruses... I just say to run all the programs which are designed for Windows.

  • @GamerAndReviewer i know, but... virusses are also mere programs. a fake virus killer is a program, so making something like microsoft office work, also means making something like virtumonde work. but I think you will be interested in the longene project. (longene.org) they are implementing parts of the windows kernell in the linux kernell so it ll become binary compatible with programs and device drivers of both OS'ses

  • @GamerAndReviewer

Windows 7 performs much better than Ubuntu or Opensuse on my computer. And programs crash or lock up way more often.

Linux sucks as an os. Like this video proves perfectly. You can make spinning cubes but what design problem does a spinning cube or ripples on the screen solve? None. Linux might have a nice kernel but that doesn't mean shit for the commercial developers and the end users.

Open source is good for creating standard technologies but not operating systems.

  • @TheWhiteRabbit1990 i think they made this cool thing called an anti virus program hmmm? i wonder what its purpose is??

  • @Mxgk11 anti-virus is only used AFTER the virus infected your pc. a virus killer doesn't stop the problem from comping into your pc, it only removes it afterwards. the right-management system in linux prevents programs from messing with the system files and thereby blocking incoming virusses, since they cant modify any files or install themselves on the harddrive.

  • dude that is fucking epic... i wish i could get ubunto 10.04 to install correctly i keep on getting a boot error called initramfs busybox. yes i have all the system specs 4gbs of ram 64 bit, i downloaded the 64 bit ubunto 10.04 desktop edition for my laptop and burned it to a disk. no luck :(

  • how do u set what u did 00:59

  • @pathdestroyer Expo effect, enable it on Compiz-Config Settings Manager. The effect is activated by pressing Win+E.

If you like you can watch my Ubuntu complete 3D tutorial (part 2) where I teach how to set up all the effect in this video.

  • What is that open effect that you use called?

  • @handel23333 You have to be more precise, give me the timing of the effect.

  • I so wanna know where I can find the songs you used on the 3 tutorial videos and this one!

  • @chris32882 check my youtube channel, it is there on the comments, frontpage.

  • I so wanna know where I can find the songs you used on the 3 tutorial videos and this one!

  • It's great to see that truth and reality annoy you guys so much. I guess 20 years of desktop Linux failure isn't enough to wake you up :-)

  • @ScienceAperture ignorance... talk about computers iff you know about computers

  • @ScienceAperture it isn't failure. linux is just about getting off the ground. 7 of 10 supercomputers in the world run linux! most internet-webservers run linux. you know android? that os they put on phones and netbooks? it's linux too! linux is everywhere, from routers to cellphones. so it's no failure. and desktop linux? it's just about beeing finished.

  • @ScienceAperture go masturbate to Mac and windows somewhere else, you clearly haven't used Linux or know what your talking about

  • @A7xfan2010 Although I agree with you, no need to be aggresive, this guy clearly want us to be upset, that's all. I am glad I'm not interested in competition, I use both O.S. because I don't receive medals to use one or another and I enjoy both for what they are.

  • @TecnoGaming well yeah i like mac and windows but this guy is retarded

  • i was so impatient after seeing this video that i just couldnt wait for your tutorial videos and decided to jump into it with a leap of faith.

had to do alot of reading and forums and still doing that but i have got pertty much everything u have showcased in this video.

end result ? lucid lynx is my ALMOST full time OS with a win 7 dual boot and i ONLY boot to windows when i wanna play game otherwise mr bill gates and his minion known as windows stays locked up and forgotten most of the time.

  • @pathdestroyer I am soo happy to hear that, you can still watch my tutorial videos for that "magic" technostyle effect :) and I am very pleased to had helped discovering a new O.S. for you.

  • @TecnoGaming been using ubuntu on and off and never took it too serious to use as a full time OS but lucid lynx is a massive improvement and compiz project has become magical now.. after configuring all effects i used to keep playing with ubuntu for fun lolz.

let me suggest you should made a detailed step by step instructions for people who want to try as it can be a bit difficult initially.

i also suggest u make a video with cairo dock as well..gona try preload now... and btw nice track.

  • @TecnoGaming Same for me, I watched this 4 days ago, and now I open Windows only for 1hour to play a DotA match, otherwise windows is bye bye, I managed to install Photoshop, I wish that NotePad ++ to compile it for Linux too.

Anyway in my opinion Ubuntu is the most stable desktop os at the moment.]

  • @pricop2007 gedit

  • @pathdestroyer I deleted windows completely. really, i never need it.

  • This desktop interface is AMAZING! I almost asked for a tutorial and then read your comment below about already working on one. I'll be waiting for it.

That's the most advanced desktop interface that I've ever seen.

  • @Eliminator5555 I saw your 3 part tutorial after posting this comment.

  • @Eliminator5555 Is not a "traditional" tutorial as you can see. :)

  • yay wobbly windows

  • Genial el video , ubutu me regalo un disco original de ubuntu 10.04 y apenas lo ando istalando pero queria ver videos quedo super genial el video pero como que la musica llega a estresar :S

  • Fantastic vid. I just installed the 64 bit OS. I noticed you had a Torrent folder. I'm looking for a Torrent program for Ubuntu. I got rid of Windows all together. Any advice would be great.

  • @dotDLLnotfound It's right inside ubuntu, no need to look for any further, it's installed with ubuntu by default.

  • @dotDLLnotfound theres a built in app called TRANSMISSION ...path would be applications>internet>transmission ...it is not as kool as utorrent etc but it does the job much faster in my opinion .

  • Excelent video, but the next time, try to show us some openGL applications running while using compiz, because that the way to show us some of the Ubuntu power!

  • @JairJY Next video will be all about games and OpenGL apps, give me time.

  • Great! Now if only you could do something useful with it, like using actual apps or games, that'd be really awesome!

Oh, wait, it's designed for show and hype, not to be usable. I knew there had to be a reason why Linux has been stuck at 1% market share from 20 years.

  • @ScienceAperture Will make another video showing off games and playing Hi-Def videos all at once so you never say that things again in front of me without thinking it twice ;)

  • @ScienceAperture Agreed.

  • @ScienceAperture because 99% are idiots and are suffering from the disease of Apple and windows dumb OS for dumb and un-intelligent people..oh wait ..u are one of those 99% ...sorry i MEANT to hurt your feelings.

  • @ScienceAperture thats because 99% are idiots who are suffering from diseases like apple and windows...oh wait...u are one of them.

oh and btw just to take the piss out of you ? ubuntu linux users manage to find most of the apps for free and dont get to experience much of hangs and bluescreens etc.

sorry i MEANT to hurt your feelings. u shud stick with your ipad, imac and ipod before i-KICKyourARSEcuzYOUdontKNOWanything.

  • genial

  • I think ubuntu is awesome, I'm only using Windows because of gaming =/

  • @TecnoGaming de nada , you're welcome =)

  • @TecnoGaming de nada , you're welcome =)

  • woooww cwul:D

  • Good show! This will show Mac and Windows users that it's something else out here, which is just as good or even better. Got both myself.

Like the music, a little bit similar to the 90's synthesises

  • @spectrospirit Thank you for your kind words.

  • what plugins do u use?

  • @alan760 I made a complete video tutorial on how to use all the video effects yourself, it seems you didn't saw it.

Go ahead and check my youtube channel TecnoGaming and then go see the Ubuntu 3D Tutorial, there you will have careful instructions on how to:

    1- install ubuntu

    2- configure 3d effects

    3- run effects

  • great video and soundtrack !!!

  • @psyfsg If you like it, see this one too.

  • @psyfsg thank you, you can see all of my videos of ubuntu in my channel, also, check out the "ubuntu 3d tutorial" specially the last part (it is a Demo like this one).

  • This is like a beautiful work of art. Bravo. I can't wait to wipe Windows XP and start with Linux Mint.

  • @vancityguy Thank you so much, it was more like a concept demo than, me showing ubuntu for me, so you understood my idea :)

  • @TecnoGaming You deserve the praise. Keep the up the good work and keep showing off the beauty of Open Source. :)

  • it looks like Windows after LSD

  • wat are u useing to record this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

  • @dizzydaking I posted the specs on the channel (last comment) first one visible.

  • TAKE THAT WINDOWS 7 AERO! I can use compizconfig-settings-manager without ANY problems and Aero slowed my netbook down, Ubuntu kicks so much ass!

  • @PIKACHU49386 Me too. Preinstalled Vista refused to even start Aeroshit. It said "graphic hardware not sufficient" or something like that. With Linux+KDE4 most of the fancy eyecandy works flawlessly out of the box. Even on that crappy Intel chip.

  • this version of ubuntu has so many bugs in it , sometimes the touchpad doesnot work , sometimes the panel buttons do not pop down , and after you install the video driver the splash screen goes into lowest resolution.

im going to install 9.10 karmic koala now

  • @ajazaad Yeah, I went back to 9.10 already. (for different reasons) Think I'll wait for the next version, October I think, and try it again.

  • @jimboinlimbo yea i also went to 9.04 , but yesterday i installed linux mint isadora which is the variant of 10.04 and its 64 bit version comes with everything pre-installed like music codecs , flashplayer and other stuff .

Linux mint is a very good alternative to 10.04 . You must try that :D

  • I liked it, very good. I was new in ubuntu. Your videos inspire me. I waited way of making such ubuntu like that.

  • Cool video!! Please share you compiz profile!

  • Could someone link the song or post the name of the tune plz!!!! i know it was listed at the end of the video but i having a hard time finding it.

    awesome video btw! Thumbs up

  • A lot of patient indeep...

  • AHA !! I figured it out. Apparently there is a bug (ahem!) in the compiz-manager. If you are not correctly seeing your "animation effects" you have to "reset" every option within the "animation plugin" ( i.e. click on the little "broom-sweeper" brush icon. And then Presto --- Animations Work !!! :)

  • what computer did you use to run linux? And was it 64 or 32 bit?

  • @xjanosikx This was already stated, you can check the entire PC specs on my own tecnogaming channel, also on my website (links on the youtube channel.

  • Hmmmm.... i just ask what this is good for. too much features imo. I mean, it looks cool, no question about that. But is having elastic folders really necessary and not just waste of resources?

  • @maddinfrei not necessary but it's fun, also, to be honest, ubuntu with compiz eats up less resources than vista and probably on the same side with 7 so, no matter how much effects you throw at it, so, is not a big deal for the system. Basically any card with DX9 and a minimum of 64 shaders could handle all the effects already.

btw: the video is done in a demo-style fashion so, fx and music is done as a tech demo rather than a real demo of what someone will do on a daily basis.

  • @maddinfrei Yeah, the uploader is right, Compiz doesn't really eat up resources. I have run it on a two year old laptop

  • this is the best display of 10.04 and compiz features i've ever come across. very well done. I look forward to your tutorial video, and I'd really like to get that paper airplane effect!

  • @Crashtwenty Thank you so much ! will be explained!

  • I have all the plugins for Compiz-Manager, but I cannot get the "Animations" to work .... how did you do that ?? Yes, I assigned an animation to the specific action. ??!?!? :)

  • @test540va wait for the tutorial, it's comming, have patience :)

  • @test540va Ubuntu 3D Video Tutorial is Up! check it out on our Channel!

  • Hi,

Can you tell me what vga card you got and what program you used to record this..

    thanks..

  • Whats the name of the video? is a movie , or a trailer of a game??

and i'm linux usr too an i'm born in 6.10

  • kubuntu with the KDE desktop is even better.

  • @jozeaphe Just take a look at my other video, precisely of KDE in Kubuntu 10.04, it's in my channel.
