The paint on this generation F-150s are horrible! My grandparents have had 5 or 6 Fords and never has the paint chipped or faded like my grandfather's 08 F-150 STX
idk why people dont like these truck or the motors. we had 3 of them. BULLETPROOF! 01(180K) 04(170K still have it) 07(148K just traded for new one) we usually have trucks for 3 or 4 years b/c miles are put on them really fast. take care of these they last. we had no issues with them. so it looks like he uses this one for work. beats it up a bit. yea theres gonna be som paint chips and dings here and there.
@northsiderollers glad you guys have had luck with the 5.4, ours has been pretty much nothing but trouble...CEL is on every other month it seems, valve issues, gasket issues, huge injector problems...it's a headache...I really like the truck aside from that aspect of it...

My bro has the 05 FX4 (same cab/bed config, but black leather and two tone Black/DSG paint, as well as a console shift, how it should be IMO) and his 5.4L makes a whole lot of noise, but never seems to go anywhere. (210,000 kilometers on it though). My dad had a 2004 Lariat a long time ago and it was the same way.
@stopscrewingaround11 I seen a lot of F250 5.4's around here infact, I saw a 1999 ish f350 4x4 5.4 X-cab with an empty heavy duty trailer hitch hooked up in a parking lot yesterday, that thing was making a lot of noise and looked dangerously underpowererd. Guy up the street has 08 Fx4 Crew I thought that was noisy & underpowererd. I never liked the 5.4 or 4.6. just a poor powertrain.
@abram7117 Yeah the 5.4 was never a fantastic engine....but from about 2006 or so on it started to become a real dated drivetrain. It improved in 2009 with the 6 speed and sound deadening (except for the weird exhaust note) but it was mediocre. the 5.0 is mounds better.
@stopscrewingaround11 I heard the 09 and 10 5.4's had ticking issues and that the 04-06 had bad spark plug issues, Seems like the 2v was the only solid one Hope the current 5.0 proves reliable, seems like the first good overall truck motor Ford has produced since the 5.8. The 4.9 I6, 4.9 V8, 4.6 were pretty reliable but gas hogs and dogs performance wise.Since 5.0 isn't offered in Super Duty or in the max tow package, I'm guessing it replaces the 4.6 while the EcoBoost replaces the 5.4
@abram7117 Yes, you are right. My uncle has a 2010 and it has a rattle at lower speeds, and my brother's truck ticks at idle and low speed accel. The 5.0 was indeed made to replace the 4.6 because Ford compares it with the 4.8 and 4.7 GM and Dodge motors, yet it also seems to replace the 5.4 as well because it's available in almost every trim, even Platinum. The Ecoboost is meant to directly replace the 5.4 in the F150 because it's compared with the 5.3 and 5.7.
@abram7117 As for the Super Duty, the 6.2 is probably supposed to double replace the 5.4L and 6.8L V10. Their engines are all mixed up and it's hard to pinpoint what replaces what.
@mercmilan06 Haha his is an 080 and has 80K on it, STX with the 4.6 and god I love F-150s but he beats the HELL out of it.! I might steal it and get it detailed for him.
