I,ve waited years for this version to be uploaded. I recorded when it was originally broadcast in 83. I love the Double bass on what is a beautiful song. My wife & I love this tune as it brings back memories of just playing great tunes when there was nothing on T.V. Thanks G Miller.
I've never understood why this song has never been covered, as it has 'classic' written all over it. Possibly because more artists aren't aware of it.
Sans doute une des plus belles mélodies Pop de ces années 80... Trop peu connu...On peut s'étonner d'ailleurs qu'il n'y ait pas eu de reprise de ce titre.
Love this song, easily one of my favorites from Style Council. And I agree with the person earlier who said they were both sublime and a bit ridiculous at times, lol. Just wish this clip had higher volume, and the drums really sound weak here in the mix.
I don't think the style council got the recognition they deserved. They recorded some beautiful songs that will stand the test of time. Even some of the instrumentals were sublime, le depart for one. It would be nice to see Paul and Mick on stage again. Everybody raved about Bruce (and rightly so) but it would still be nice. Here's a thought, Paul, Bruce, AND Mick. Now there's a line up!!!!!
@elashmel they had many chart singles and albums, so how is that a lack of recognition? Revisionist journalists give them little credit, but they were a massive part of my life for the whole of their career, another facet of Weller's musical journey. Admittedly there were one or two slightly dubious looks, and sounds, but their back catalogue stands a lot of scrutiny. So much better than their contemporaries most of the time.
TSC were a maddening mixture of the sublime and the slightly ridiculous at times.Keep your eyes open for some more rare clips soon.Cheers for the comment.
@StepmothersTeeth The Style Council is what Paul Weller constructed of them coming from the Jam and having his father behind him as a manager. Paul Weller has always been very innovative looking abroad for different music styles. Often wrapped political and human issues into his songs. A huge musical talent I would say to this day.
thank god !! paul and the band aren't lip-synching !! a rare TSC TV moment indeed !!

Deeply emotive, for anyone who has fallen in and then out of love

Me and my wife have just spotted her in the audience holding her top of the pops flag - which she nicked and still has to this day!
