  • Wow that was a good landing for your first in a 737

  • Do you have to be British to fly for British airways.

  • Hey ,nice landing u do there

  • @Rustomce i third it!

  • @mrhaydon 4th I guess :P

  • mark i want to be you lol

  • no winglets! thats rare on a 737 nowadays

  • actually there arealot of 737's with no winglets these days

    737's with winglets are

    737-800 and 900series

but with no winglets they are series 300 and 400

  • You start on £30,000 as an SSP cadet. You earn about another £10,000 in flying allowances. So about £40K intotal, after tax about £30K.

Pilots into BA get recruited via the SSP (Self Sponsored Pilot) route or the DEP (Direct Entry Pilot - eg pilots frorm other airlines / military) route.

DEPs get paid more as they have more experience. They start on £45,000.

  • NICE LANDING

  • @AP264 is this per month???

  • @AP264 is this per month

  • @AP264 Is that all you get paid? 0_o

  • @AP264 is this for one year or one month?

  • what airline do you fly for??

  • This is with British Airways

  • What do you do in base training? I thought it was when you just learned/practised operating your type around the base you're given?

    Can someone explain please? :)

  • No, "Base Training" is the term given to the training required for your type rating to go on your license. The training involves a minimum of 6 landings on type for your first type rating. Normally these are done as 6 "touch & gos". 6 is the minimum. If you are gash and do poorly you will have to do more until the examiner is happy. I have heard of someone doing it in 24!

If its not your 1st TR then all you have to do is Zero Flight Training (ZFT) which is a couple of circuits in a simulator.

  • Oh ok i understand now, but then what's line training? (sorry)

  • Line training is your first 40 sectors flown with passengers and a training captain. After this you do a line check and if pass you are then a fully qualified FO flying on the fleet like any other pilot. If you fail, the airline gives you more sectors with a training captain until you reach the standard required. A sector is one leg of a route, eg LHR to EDI

  • Well done wait !

    Was that Chateauroux Deols? Vatry?

  • Chateauroux

  • Very nice landing for a first in the real world! How come the speed brakes weren't deployed? Or were they, but just couldn't see from where you were sat. :)

  • It was actually a touch and go. Everyone's first landing on a jet will be touch and go during "base training". The speedbrakes are stowed, flaps retracted to 15 and thrust levers increased.

  • Ah, right. Thanks!

  • Hey i was talking to Tim last year, My uncle knows him and i wanna be a pilot so i went for a chat with him He told me you guys took at 737 out to france to a random airfield, I was like I wanna do that!!!
