    Thanks again!!

  • Wooow... Can i buy it o.o?

  • Whats with the legos?

  • it indicates HDD activity: every time the HDD clicks, the lego gear turns one click.

  • Funny! I thought that maybe the ring of light could be used as an "indicator led", like orange for network, green for dvd drive, and red for hard drive activity, but I've never seen it done before.

  • yeah, that's easy to do - re-route some wires, use multi-color LEDs or just cram a bunch of LEDs into the ring area, but I don't like my indicators to be combined.

plus, it's so easy to do, where's the fun in that?

"hey, look at my cluster of flashing lights!"

"oh yeah? check out my robotics!!"

but it's all good... as long as it's not stock I guess. :-)

  • Yeah. I thought It would be a software solution, like you can already choose the ring of light color in the xBox Media Center.

  • WHOOP WHOOP nice mod man and nice sticker

    mcl

  • So did you just solder wires from the lcd to the bottom of the motherboard like you would with a RCA output mod? Don't happe to have a wiring diagram do you?

  • yeah, I just connected LCD to the regular composit video pins. I also have a toggle switch that goes from composit to component so I can still use my HD cables when I want to.

  • That's genius, don't think i would have thought of the toggle switch. I guess i'll figure it out, but having never tried to do this before i'm not sure what the lcd screen looks like and have no idea where to solder to the screen lol. I have the composit video pins down pat, so i guess that's a start.

  • it would be cool if you took the insane clown posse sticker off. i fucking loathe that band.

i do however, like some dark lotus.

  • hey how did you do the screen i have been trying to fin info on that for a long time because i want ton do that with mine

  • you first need to get a little LCD screen that will fit, mine came from one of those controllers that had a built in screen.

take it all apart and wire it up to the xbox mainboard - I used a switch on mine so that I can still use the component cable as well as any other av cable I would need to use.

cut a hole in the case mount etc.. but it is a very tedious job, and you gotta be careful you don't crush or break any wires while handeling it, as well as the LCD itself.

  • --it's not very good for gaming, but it DOES come in handy for when you want to use the xbox without having to hook it up to a bulky tv or monitor for other uses such as file/media serving, or just ripping discs without having to be connected to a bunch of other equipment, for example going to a friend's house or used game store.

disclaimer: copyright violation is bad, you should not do it.

  • nice thx for the info

  • where would you get such a controller anyway

  • I used the "Hip Screen Pad" --look for it on ebay, as of 11:00PM (Central) May 5th, 2009, there are currently two for sale. one for xbox, and one for PS2. it doesn't matter which one you get, the screen is the same.

you may need to run your own wires from the various boards to the screen so that you can place them around inside the xbox. there isn't much room to work with. and outside of the shell, that LCD screen and backlight is VERY FRAGILE! also, high voltage from the inverter.

  • there's been issue reported from other modders of CC inverters screwing with the functionality of the xbox itself, due to EMI or RFI. I have had none, luckily. one trick I've heard to fix it though, is to wrap the inverter in foil (copper preferred). ..but try it without first.

for power, I believe you tap the +12 from the power supply, if I remember correctly. check the board for a 7805 or a 7812 IC, that should give you a clue.

also be sure to mask with electrical tape any exposed circuitry.

  • nice thx for the info ill look on ebay and try and get one of the controllers.

  • This mod iz fucking sick man keep up the good work man!!!

  • I like the little TV.. thats sick

  • cool

  • omg dude thats insane! love your videos

  • wow did you do all that yourself or have you just copied. luv yer vids.

  • thanks..

I followed closely behind the pioneers of xbox modding. most of the mods in the video had already been developed by the time I got around to doing them. so I can't take complete credit, but I did do my part to contribute to the community, just search the xbox-scene forums for "The Timmy"

There IS a mod in the video that is an original idea, and probably the only mod like it on an xbox, the IDE activity wheel-- that's the little gear in the front that spins one click per HDD click. neat

  • incredible dude O.o
