I bet Benoit would have lost to Austin anyway, probably via Stunner on Benoit, but since he couldn't pick him up to do it. He was told probably by Hebner or via gestures by Paul Heyman and JR to just cover him.

This match was good but the first 8 seconds of this clip when Jericho allegedly hits Austin with the piece of the announcement table is obviously the most fake part of the match. Just listen to the sound it makes and where and how it hits.

The ending wasn't bad. Austin pinned Benoit because he injured his back when he did the back body drop and he needed surgery. Thats why he couldn't compete till May 2002.
