TRAVIS CRABTREE THE GOOD LIFE YOUNG FREE AND TO BE TRAVIS CRABTREE NOT A CARE IN THE WORLD.WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO HIM?PLEASE LET ME KNOW ANGELODME@AOL.COM
@123456789034038 Last I heard, as of about a year or so ago, Travis was alive and well and living in Florida. His brother Lynne passed away last April, I believe. And, "Smokey" Crabtree, his dad (who was also involved in the movie) is still alive and still living in Fouke - although I believe he is close to 90 years old now.
HEY TRAVIS CRABTREE KEEP GOING KID WISH I WAS IN THE BOTTEMS HANGING OUT WITH TRAVIS FISHING HUNTING ETC..................... JUST PALS. WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO HIM?????? SIGNED SOMEONE WHO LIKES THE SIMPLE LIFE. A.O FROM CHICAGO
Travis may have gotten a song in the film, but the best part was when bigfoot stuck his arm through the bathroom window and that man ran out of the bathroom with his pants and boxers down. To the guy who said Bigfoot was pushing sixty: yeah, but he liked women. Surely he procreated.
It's safe to go camping now along the river. Bigfoot's pushing sixty years old easy and that's old in Bigfoot years. Take him a bottle of Geritol and B12 caplets and maybe he will howl once more.
Those scrambled eggs did look tasty. Gonna have some with a waffle tomorrow. Merry Christmas. 12-25-10
I have a book that crabtree wrote his real story you can order one on line look for smokey and the fouke monster he also has a updated book of the next 28 years of his life. You cannot put this book down when you began to read it.My father discovered he has family living in fouke. A uncle he has met.He was adopted as a child.I will meet his family this year in fouke .I would like to work on a document about bigfoot in fouke but do not have the money.I am 47 i hopr to do this soon.
My family loves this movie! The past few years I've gotten a couple of my friends to watch it when they come over for Halloween. We always sing along to the songs! My mom taped it along time ago, and the tape is getting really old. :(
What a cool song for a cool movie and a cool area to live in. Uh, yeah. What was the director thinking of adding a musical interlude. He brought Herb all of those things in order for him to stop having to check him for ticks when he visited.
Yeah! " Herb limps 'cause he blew half his foot off in a hunting accident." Glad they included that bit of info in the documentary. This is one of my favorite flicks! It scared me then, and it scares me now!
Wow. You're right. I always thought there was something really quirky about the relationship between the music and vocals in this song. Not "quirky" in a bad way - but it made it really interesting and unique sounding. I never put together the difference in time signatures. But, now that you've said it, yes. That's what it is. The music is in 3/4, and the vocal lines are sung in 4/4, but with 3/4 rests between lines. It makes it sound very odd and unique.
I was lucky enough to be a little kid when I first saw this. It scared the crap out of me back then.
Great memories (for some weird reason).
There's another awesome tune in the movie that describes the monster's plight of (apparently) being the only one of its kind. These songs should've been nominated for Oscars.
So this is where Brad Jones got the name for the character in 80's Dan.

When I first watched this so long ago, Travis Crabtree was my favorite "bad ass" in movies. Unfortunately, much later he was replaced by Han Solo.

I bet Herb grew a few plants back there in bottoms

Herb Jones is a man who likes a lot of privacy...he's been livin' alone in these bottoms the last twenty years!

I think there should be a Travis Crabtree camp for boys. If only I had Travis to teach me the ways when I was a boy, I'd might be something today.

Gotta love that bit of flugelhorn in there too.

What is hauntingly genius in this song, is that the band plays in 3/4 time and the singer appears to be singing in 4/4.

Sure we are all amazed by this songwriting wizardry, but what about the opening overture to the movie?
Wow... it's a variation on a theme (meaning the ballad was written first) and it's orchestral arrangements are masterful.
Travis Crabtree is in hs ealy 50's now and still remains an American icon.

One thing I wanted to say:
That was awfully nice of Travis Crabtree to deliver all these goods to his freind Herb Jones that lived in the "bottoms" for the last 20 years.
But I gotta' believe he also brought him whiskey, marijuana, and dirty magazines too. too.

SDChargers- You are talking about the theme song. It was written by a Mexican fellow.
You can find it on video #4 and forward it to 5:28, then the song starts.
Absolutley these are award winning songs. The actual opening prelude music in video #1 (overture) is the best of all in my opnion.
