wats a gud slap and pop bass. along with a nice groove sound to it when i do chording? do i have to have to separate basses or can i get one that has a mixture of both? rite now i have an ibanez sr505. anyone can help me out?
For me, the Jazz or Precision Fender bass guitars are excellent for this. But I suggest trying to play around with the tone on the amp and guitar. For groove, you want more bass and a little high, with low mid; While you need more high and mid with lower bass for slapping.
hey can you put a video here on youtube where you are playing your cort funkmachine, just some slap stuff and usual stuff, i'm thinkin' about buying one of those.
My cheap one, not the ultra posh one cost £286 on ebay. They still use it as my main guitar, really slim neck, easy to play and has a good fundamental sound. The two models use exactly the same pickups and electronics.
The silver one is exactly the same as mine just in silver ! They don't make my model anymore apparently, so now you've got the crazy paint job thru-neck one that TM Stevens plays and the cheaper silver one.
Faron i love you videos man im a self taught bassist of about 4 years and well i dont like to learn the way instructors will teach i would rather be given the working knowlegde and teach myself my own way. your very descript in your teachings keep it going man im a huge fan and your making it easy for a new bassist to start right out with a six string brotha....thanx again HoD
Yeah, a good 'mid scoop' is always a decent starting point. My only advice is to listen to what sounds good and what sounds bad. Afterall, you're the one that chooses your sound, so if it sounds awful then keep tweaking ! It's also worth trying to understand the role of specific frequencies across the eq and how they alter the sound.

my bass doesnt give that funky sound ur bass gives. is it because of the strings? or should i change the effects? is it because my strings are old?
or might it be that im just doing it wrong :S

how do you get that funky bass sound?
AvoidingtheQuestion 2 years ago
Try to go for a more trebly tone on your bass, and turn up the high and mid on your amp to get more defined slaps.

Yeah sure will do. I was thinking about doing a little demo of the Funkmachine anyway, 'cos nobody else seems to have any clips on youtube.

Actually, it seems the silver one is slightly different. Just noticed it has a different bridge on it.
