i really like how this guy doesnt froth at the mouth when talking about God. its like hes talking with you, not to you. its more normal rather than insane gibberish bible thumping rap.
Gary DeMar is an impressive voice of reason. However, he very much sounds like a Postmillenialist rather than an Amillenialist. However, I like what he says. We need to see the strength of the Church rather than the strength of secular society.
Where in the NT do we see the Apostles working to permeat the Roman government and transform it? or to reform the educational system? etc?
The Church's mandate is evangelistic not political. Salvation from the coming judgement is the focus of the Apostolic preaching, and the futuristic kingdom was their hope. It's in the Kingdom on earth where we will see true transformation, but it must begin now by transforming people's hearts by theGospel.
You do not consider the different character of that age. Everything comes in its own season. No emperor had as yet believed in Christ.
Seeing, then, that the kings of the earth were not yet serving the Lord in the time of the apostles, it must be granted that at that time acts of impiety could not possibly be prevented by the laws, but were rather performed under their sanction.
Yes, but when the gospel spread through people's hearts, it will spread through their lives. James said that our faith is justified by our works. If we just say we have Jesus in our "heart" but it isn't evident in the way we act, then we are liars. So, if the gospel does spread throughout the world and we are to evangelize, then social reformation is inevitable. We see a lot of people talking about it today, whether pre or post-millennial
What does a working Christianity mean for our own lives? Do we elect officials who have righteous objectives and voting records? Do we support unrighteous judgements in our own government? What are the practical implications of living a life governed by the Word of God? If Christ's Kingdom is going to rule all areas of our lives, then we must be consistnet and work for his glory, both in personal interactions and the power we have in the civil sphere.
The Great Commission says, "Go and make disciples of the NATIONS." No one ever said to not witness to people. But if your change people hearts they will change the world. God gave us rules to live by and to govern with.
One thing Gary says is correct. What goes on now was in fact going on 500 years ago. Islam, cults, debates even in catholic colleges about doctrine, just war, rights, etc. Acton wrote about some of it in his History of Freedom.
Also, Christopher Dawson called Christian culture a culture of hope. That nihilistic attitude of 'it's going to get worse any way' doesn't give me any hope. Special thanks to Gary for having the guts to say it. Thanks for posting this. Much more hopeful
Every religious fruit cake in history has believed they were living in the "last days" all have been wrong! think about it "in the last days there will come doubters" well there have been doubters for 1,500yrs, so when do these last days strat exactly?
Global, you have well said we are part of the temple, living stones. We are also a holy priesthood according to Peter. How strange then that dispensationalists expect another temple to be built. Most of them also believe animal sacrafices will be reinstated in this temple. They calim the sacrafices will commemerate Christ's sacrifice only. Yet the Bible knows nothingof a rebuilt future temple.RLJ
Do we realize that we are supposed to be part of "the temple of the living G-d"?
The temple was 'The House of the Lord' but was destroyed by the Romans in 70AD which was the End of the Age of the Jewish world as it then was - The End Times of the Old Covenant Temple in Jerusalem since fulfilled thru the revolutionary Way of THE Messiah!
