  • i know theres a vast array of music that hasnt made it into the mainstream, but this sort of feels like it should have like a million views.

  • such whimsical, lush soundscapes! <3

  • marginally sensitive, very sad.

  • This song, indeed the album it came from, always reminds me of when I first heard it, in early October 1980. I'd just come back from a week's holiday in Filey, and the weather had turned cold, wet & windy once back in Liverpool. I'd bought the album the day before going away, and so played it for the first time on my return, and nothing was ever the same again. A wonderful song & album.

  • Genius. Pure & Simple.

  • absolutely stunning song....****

  • vini reilly influenced john frusciante's playing. no wonder the beginning of the song reminds of murderers by jf. both dc and jf are amazing!

  • One of the finest instrumental pieces of music ever.....

  • nice vid - still have this album on vinyl - nice cover too (as always w factory) - btw some of the first copies of this album apparently issue in a SANDPAPER album cover :) I wondedr how long they lasted !!

  • @echo680 The Return of the Durutti Column was issued in a limited edition sandpaper sleeve-hand stuck by members of Joy Division apparently!! I own one :-) You have to keep it in a plastic sleeve or else it wrecks all your other album covers LOl!!!

  • @BJCAshton :-) thanks for reply man - always thought it might have been an awkward sleeve ! :-) - my copy just the later, conventional one

  • 2 days before my 22th birthday I gave to me the chance to see them in Lisbon... they came with a guy named Peter Hook... fabulous!!!

  • used to get stoned to this 25 years ago .........aint heard for yonks

  • So simple yet so wonderful. Make sure you hear this track on good hifi with plenty of volume - you have to feel the wall of sound ripple thru you till you tingle. This song is a big endorphin rush. Love it.

  • @dobsondale WA HAY YOU STILL ANNOYING PEOPLE WITH YOUR BAD SPELLING AND SPOUTING SHITE,YOU TWO BOB CUNT.

  • Just so beautiful. What a tune man. So perfectly put together. Pity it's so short...beautiful things leave you wanting more though I suppose.

  • @MrBellend1 Isn't it though? I agree. It has a delicate sound that I like.

  • Really beautiful. Am I the only one who thinks this song has an Autumnal vibe? Almost reminds me of something Cocteau Twins might've done. Gorgeous.

  • @stephenp1968 Quite the opposite to me.. It reminds me of April/May, but i can most certainly follow the point of your idea..

  • ahahahamazing

  • Thieves Like Us did an amazing job sampling it for "Drugs In My Body" <3 its so simple & lovley.

  • this song makes me pee happy i swear.

  • They now have a branch of Sock Shop at the top of the tower. I bought some 100 per cent cotton the other day, blue an red they were!

  • Brings back many memories. This also reminds me of the Nick Nicely track hilly fields in a production/feel way. Also quite a few new young bands getting the Durutti feel check out Irish band God is an Astronaut.

  • I loved this song when it came out ....and haven't heard it in 20 years ...so nice. I used to think of it as 'golden guitar gently falling down like rain'.

  • Extraordinaria y gracias por el nombre del grupo.

  • This song is one of Martin Hannett's most beautiful productions. True masterpiece.

  • @Enigmaticland Factory had a very eclectic yet erratic output but this is a thing of sheer and utter beauty and Hannett was a genius ...lotta continua !

CHEERS!

  • Amazing song, well done on the vid. I fell in love with "The Return of the Durutti Column" as a 15-year old when a neighbour gave me an original sandpaper-clad vinyl copy (which I later discovered Ian Curtis glued together! See his widow's book)...such haunting tapestries of melancholy arpeggios and Hannets "switches"...x

  • Durutti Column - great great great! I love this song, haven't heard it for ages! I love YouTube and all the people that share all these rare jewels with the world!

  • Oh, this is a beautiful, beautiful song. It's always made me feel so happy. The footage is somehow fitting, too. Thanks for posting it!
