  • Betty??!!

  • Crawford has a gorgeous voice <3 But I always think of Erik when I hear his voice : P

  • I'm glad to find this performance again. I remember when I first saw it all those years ago and just being completely awestruck by how powerful this is (like someone else said, I had tears in my eyes). Everyone has their own individual stamp on this song and this is his. And it's brilliant!

  • ASDFJKL WOW.

  • He is very good, but i can hear the Phantom.

  • Absolutely F*****ng Brilliant.

  • MC has a good voice but I see no point in him or anyone else singing this song if they aren't gonna sing the high notes.

  • hard to think that frank spencer became the original phantom of the opera...on stage at least.. i grew up with michael crawford and he will always be amazing

  • It's a great cover..no offense though,Ted Neely owns this song..it's willed by the Gods of music that a Ted Neely shall be born to sing the song one day..(it did happened in the 70's:))

  • I'm tearing up just watching this, if I had been there I would have been bawling. So beautiful, his voice is beyond amazing.

  • I was literally blown away when I first heard the song/saw Michael perform it - it's a jaw-dropping performance. MC doesn't sing this song, he lives it - I've never heard anyone bring as much emotion to his songs as Michael does (I often cry when I hear him sing). In this song, regardless of which version I'm hearing, you can feel his pain/anger/frustration - it's just remarkable.

  • Breathtaking, I remember this as one of the most incredible performances of the song, such passion, and THAT note! Nice man also.

  • I love MC so much...what a great actor actor...!

  • his voice is very expressive

  • He does have a unique voice.

  • The one, the only Phantom of the Opera, with the voice that is amazing and one of a kind. Webber was a fool not to cast him in the movie that would have lived forever!! Now it is just gathering dust on a shelf.

  • I was listening to a guy in my music class perform this song. I have to admit, he sounded like Michael Crawford. It just made me appreciate him more

  • He's unique! I love his voice!

  • never forgotten this performance love it

  • It might be a 'rock opera' but this song, this point in the show and the story...it's pure passion, and that is exactly what MC does, and does it flawlessly. Bravo.

  • Michael sings with his whole body and soul. This is his interpretation of the song Gethesemane. It isn't arrogance, its passion. He gives it his all.

  • He has one of the best voice to sing this song. But, the interpretation I think a little arrogant.

  • @cherry1311 What do you mean by arrogant? I think it sounds like he put his heart in soul in it..

  • @cherry1311 I always thought that he did that stuff because he was so in to it and stuff. A lot of actors use hand motions; some without even knowing.

    <3 I love Michael Crawford! <3

  • This is amazing. When he held that note at 3:40, that was amazing!!! I love this!

  • Favorite version out of all the songs of JCS Of Gethsemane.

  • The clapping never ends! (:

  • He has a magnificent gift in that beautiful voice of his, but also in his ability to sing with such convincing emotion. I get caught up in the performance every time I hear this, and sit through it sniveling as if he really were getting ready to sacrifice himself. *SIGH* THAT'S why he's a star.

  • Oh my goodness gracious...he didn't just hold that note at 3:40, he HELD it!

  • Bravo Michael Crawford, Bravo....

  • Wow, who would have thought that bumbling idiot Frank Spencer could have such a magnificent voice tucked away. What a fabulous revelation Michael's voice is.

  • No one performs this like Michael Crawford.

  • I think Michael Crawford sings this beautifully. He has a wonderful voice and this song suits him. If you've seen Jesus Christ Superstar then you'd know its quite a mellow scene anyway.

  • @sissy612 I'm not sure if you are aware but MC never had "the role", he was simply singing this song on the Royal Variety Show of 1992 I believe and probably recorded it. I could never imagine MC playing Jesus but I think he sings "Gethsemane" amazingly... even prefer this version to Balsamo who I saw a few times live.

  • @gshelmerdine MC's version is my favorite rendition of this. Seeing and hearing him perform this live is stunning. He is absolutely riveting and he gets a standing ovation whenever he does this in concert. And the strange thing is, I never liked this number until I heard and saw Michael sing it!

  • @gshelmerdine Its recorded on a CD i own i got from borders. It's Michael Crawford performs Andrew Lloyd Webber and I listen to it all the time. I love him!

  • WOW! What more can you say.....WOW!

  • His voice is just....superhuman....

  • Omg! I now looking at this and there are 666 views!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm speechless as much as Michael Crawford must have been breathless after that performance. Wow...

  • That was marvelous!!!!!!

  • His voice is incredible...
