  • The fact is... Jeep is better. It's just natural though. The jeep was not an armored vehicle in the military but rather a vehicle (usually no roof or a soft top) that was meant to go anywhere and do it quicker than the heavier vehicles. With the heavier use of ieds and other factors such as the way that humvees are meant to just go with the troops into combat and patrols, the humvee was made heavier and larger to carry armor. Even the military humvees (if u watch their videos) are not goodoffroa

  • @kferrell630 No, the thing of it is, Hummer's are awful civilian vehicles. They have terrible mileage, I mean hell I've tuned my Wrangler '97 to get at least 19 mpg and I don't know a Hummer than could touch that. Also, the Jeeps weren't bastardized when they were produced for the civilians, in fact, they're incredibly personalized and were made BETTER when they transitioned. Civilian Hummers are simply lame ass military Hummers for bleach blondes to get groceries in. It's pathetic.

Civilian hummers, while not as capable (in my opinion) but are still very off road capable... including the h3. Saying that civilian hummers like the H2 aren't capable because its not based off of the hmmvv (humvee) is like saying that Cherokees aren't capable for the same reason... they're two different cars.

How about the custom fenders flares I added to my jeep? The custom writing along the side? the custom lift kit? the bumpers? the 33" tires? The swapped out roll cage? the custom bucket seats? The fact that no one has my Jeep and unless we're talking about newer models nobody DOES have the same Jeep. Civi Jeeps are better than civi Hummers. All around.

Given that the jeep has less hang over, less weight, both front and rear locking axles it does perform better. But what car on the market other than a wrangler will out perform a hummer h3 4x4 with both front and rear locking axles (which is available in the off road package).. nothing

  • lol I never said one was bad or the other, I simply stated that your hipe over the h3 being better than the jeep is miss placed. both have solid axles and as such will both get stuck with the same size tires just as easily as the other. Now if you want to talk about the very heavy and bullet proof set up of the big boy military set up hummer, that is not even comparing apples to apples.

    Front of the H3 is IFS, not solid axle. The H3 is cheaper than the Tahoe. True, it does share parts.

  • @b4igetu jeep wranglers have a higher center of gravity, that's why it's always rolling. It also has solid axles. So no matter how many inches you raise the wrangler, it doesn't increase clearance. On the other hand, the H1 has a geared drive system, allowing high clearance and low center of gravity. So for an example, the H1 can operate on a 40% side slope with 3,500 pounds of payload. Of course, not everyone can afford 150K for the 2006 alpha. Jeeps are just a poor man's hummer.

As a former owner of a Jeep and a current owner of a Hummer, most people don't give as much credit to the Hummers as should be. Sure the ole' Jeep was nice, but not near as smooth or cable when you compare the Wrangler and H3 in the ratio of weight and HP/torque. Not to mention a Tahoe and H3 have nearly nothing in common, asides that they're a GM product.

  • The only problem with your comment is that the 2004 Jeep Inline 6 does not gets 190 Horsepower and 230 lbft. Maybe cleaning it got more power out of it but that is a lot more than standard. But i fully put my trust in a jeep before a hummer any day

  • Sounds like the h3 is in 4L the whole time.. Stock for stock decent comparision. But, when it comes time to mod, price wise the jeep will come out on top when it comes to overall price and cabability.. they have been around the block for a while, everybody know's what makes them tick.

  • all i have to say is that they both rock when it comes to having fun, my brother in law drives a jeep cj with a 4.5" lift with 35s on her, and we drive a stock hummer h3 and the hummer keeps up without a problem, as a hummer fan and owner, what they say about a hummer not getting stuck is horse shit, we got an h1 stuck this summer burried it in mud and had to pull it out, its not what you drive its how you drive it , go hummer go and for you that cant afford one get a jeep
