  • He is from Jacksonville? He sounds like a goof from up north.

  • @tommytruth No one said that he was "from Jacksonville" you fool. He was dispatching from Jacksonville.

  • Same guy does HF dispatch now on the Kanawha. He cracks me up sometimes.

  • That is a very strange dispatching system. Up here in Canada a clearance would sound like..." CP 427 North, Item 1, Clearance 2001, CP 8826 South clear to proceed from Begin End Main Track sign Guelph Junction GUE to Signal # 602-3 Desjardins DES, clear to repeat clearance 2001, CP 8826 South. CP Hamilton Sub RTC Out.

  • @LocalRailfan Yea, CP's clearences are whacked. CN's are so much simpler ... here is an example of a BASIC proceed clearance.

Item 1 OCS Clearance Number 2001 To CN 532 5674 South

Item 5 Proceed from Burger King to McDonald's

    Item 7 Restrictions Nil

Item 12 Complete at 2156 RTC J.E.M. Copied by Conductor McDonald

  • I actually think that CN's clearances are a lot more complicated. Thanks for giving and example though.

  • @LocalRailfan A lot of that stuff is pre printed on the sheet. Just fill in a few blanks here and there.

  • A Jacksonville Dispatch who sounds like he's fresh from "Da Bronx" in NY City. :->

Great audio on the scanner.. was that a direct connect into your cam, or just picking it up with a mic.?

  • I used the cam for that. They were right beside each other in the seat.

It didn't hurt that that drag was sitting in front of me at Grafton while he was talking to JAX.
