@gazpuddin haha! Once; my friend charged a ball at 30PSI and managed to middle it. Neither of us are batsman and I hand't even played cricket for a few years at that stage. That being said, I reckon someone could be able to play balls fired at 60PSI with a lot of practice, the hardest part is not knowing exactly when the ball is going to come; even a count down isn't that helpful.
@consec69 well Andy Roddick's serve is a lot slower than an average velocity of 280kph over 22m distance as I believe they measure the initial velocity of the ball coming off the racquet. IIRC, my 280kph speed reading is an average velocity over 22m, not muzzle velocity.
@usmal7862 balls/stupidity haha. Don't think I would put myself back in to face it again, the ball hit me on the forearm when fired at 90PSI (full power is 120PSI) and it left a bruise for weeks. Thanks for the comment, check out my new videos and new channel (PerformanceCannons).
@mrasabbasi I made it myself. It didn't cost me that much as I already had a lot of the materials laying around but if you bought some of the stuff for cheap on auction sites (trademe/ebay), it would probably cost $200NZD. If you're in America, it could be made for a lot less
@deancassar Surprised you're not in Australia's ODI squad. I measured the average velocity by finding the individual frame the ball left the barrel and the frame where it hit the back fence, then I find how many frames were in between that, the distance from cannon to fence and the frame rate of the video footage to find the average velocity. It does reach 280kph ±10kph, so no, you do not almost bowl that fast.
I think you better reposition your knee pads to cover your wonka. One proper strike to your wonka will have you singing like a soprano in the women's choir.
@gunot5827 280kph is indeed slow for one of my cannons but it's unbelievably quick when trying to bat against it. At 125PSI the ball would have an average muzzle energy similar to that of a cricket ball at 150kph (meaning they have the same force = hurt the same). It's not as easy as you think facing it. Playing earlier doesn't work as you have no idea the length or line of the delivery, only an estimate. If you live in Auckland, I'd be happy to give you a demonstration.
@reload377 it'd take too much of my time to do that, you could just go to spudfiles . com and do some research and spend some of your own time figuring it out, it's very simple. Glue pipe together, modify valve.
i think u should at leat be able to play a forward defensive to the 180kmph balls after a while, coz ur eyes adjust and you kinda know where its gonna pitch...
@GujjarAttack If the cannon was mounted and I was playing on a dry in-door wicket, but in the current conditions it was impossible. Some short balls wouldn't bounce at all, others would pitch 2 meters in front of you and bounce over your head. The balls would also drift very slightly in the air too and it was difficult to get consistent line and length firing the cannon from the hip. I got hit in the forearm at 250kph and it felt like a hard ball hitting me (muzzle energy would be the same)
haha, don't see them at all

@gunot5827 It's just one of those things that may look easy but once you're down the other end (without a box), you're shitting yourself.
